  • You're all missing the point Brian clement is making. You say he hasn't read the book and thats true, but Brian is well aware of what the book is about. Its basically Fruitarianism. Brian may not have read the book, but hes done massive amounts of research and clinical studies on fruit and its effects on the body. So don't say he doesn't know what hes talking about. There are many other studies that show friut is bad for your health.

  • Brian Clement's bias against fruit is so obvious it's painful. Hippocrates does great work at healing people but telling people not to eat fruit is madness and has no basis. The results of so many people on 80/10/10 speaks volumes, but poor Brian won't find this out until he reads the book. If you believe this guy they'd all have cancer!

    Well I still would say that the most important book is still the China Study. I can't completely agree on that he comments on a book he hasn't even read and it's not like the don't know each others work from speaking on various conferences etc... I was wondering is there a vid from doug graham on Hippocrates?

  • @durianriders Just like you haven't read Price's 'Nutrition and Physical Degeneration', Lierre Keith's 'Vegetarian Myth', Mark Sissons 'Primal Blueprint', Robb Wolfs 'Paleo Solution', Gary Taube's 'How We Get Fat', or any of the other texts you claim to have 'debunked'.

  • While i don't recommend fruitarianism to anyone, I don't think there is anything wrong with healthy active people eating lots of fruit. People with health problems like syndrome X should avoid it until well and truly recovered.

  • Im ashamed to say that for a second, I actually questioned fruitarianism. Following Durian Rider and TheFruitarian shows that you can survive on mostly fruit with a little bit of greens.

  • We can ingest booze. We can certainly ingest fruit even more efficiently.

  • Perhaps the pancreas is disfunctional from high fat and protein consumption. Are you a purist or not? I don't get the hybrid fruit argument, so, you can't be pure on fruit so its ok to eat everything else?

  • Brian absolutely proves nothing in this video as regards high simple carb consumption taking a toll on the pancreas or how pancreatic functioning deteriorates the longer one sticks to a high carb diet. His reference to hybridized fruit as a hindrance to human health has no sound reasoning behind it. He essentially deems Dr. Graham's assertions unsubstantiated yet this entire video was beyond unsubstantiated.

  • @RawAussieAthlete You are an idiot for an Australian. Do you not realize that fruit has been hybridized for centuries by HUMANS to make it sweeter, and feed the addiction to sugar. YOU need sprouts, weeds, and GREENS. I caution you to limit your fruit intake, and If you do eat fruit eat only the ones low in sugar such as bell peppers, cucumbers, and tomatos. Stop spreading this 80/10/10 bullshit around because its a disgrace to the raw vegan food movement.

    FYI...The 80/10/10 diet includes as much volume of greens and vegetables as it does of fruit. It isn't a fruit only diet.

    You and Brian both need to take the time to study something before you critique it.

    I didn't make any judgemental statements about your diet. Why did you feel the need to defend it?

  • @RawAussieAthlete There is no such thing as 80/10/10 diet. It is just called a raw vegan diet. My main point is that the percentages are pretty stupid. For example sprouted quinoa is like 30% protein. Sprouts have way more nutrition than fruits plus they don't contain the oxygen starving sugar. Fruits have too many issues and to make it the staple of a diet is just ignorant. It is horrible for long term health. Dr.Clement is nearly 20 years older than Dr.Graham yet looks healthier.

    Doug is a long time vegan and raw and is super fit.

    Brian aint even raw or vegan and has a gut under that suit.

  • @777TylerJB This is BS, organic fruit is always sweeter and more nutritionally dense. People think you have to be an athlete to do 80/10/10. Thats wrong, 80/10/10 turns you into an athlete. You finally have enough energy to function. Read up on it, you find that low fat will allow you to control blood sugar levels. Its been shown through experiments that fruit won't put your blood sugar levels out of whack. If it did then people with sugar addictions would eat more fruit, not just candy.

  • What nonsense talking about the Bible. The reason we are different from 100,000 years ago is because we have adapted due to evolutionary pressures. It is long before that when lived as primates in the trees, living on fruits. It is likely that we scavenged and probably killed other monkeys just as we see chimps do today.

  • Well, I read Graham's book and I have to say there are a lot weaknesses in his arguments. Clement actually brings up a couple of good points. The bottom line is you cannot thrive on supermarket fruits and vegetables anymore, even if they are organic. Unless you're completely self-sustaining, you won't reach optimal health with the 80/10/10, you will however be much better off than the average American.

  • I'm with most of you.... don't knock something till you have read it and don't even know if he has any research, science, evidence behind it. I plan on purchasing it because a friend that I highly trust approves and recommends it.

  • First, have to agree it's rather unprofessional to make what appears to be an official comment on a book that one has not completely read.

    Second, regarding fruit sugar, sure fruit raises blood sugar, but for how long? In the absence of fat, which is the way fruit is recommended to be eaten, the sugar is removed from the blood anywhere from 20 to 40 min as it should be. The "high blood sugar" is not a chronic problem. As well, fruit does not cause spikes in blood sugar as refined sugar does ...

  • Your body breaks food down into simple sugars in order to be put into your cells. Fruit has the sugar in a readily available form so almost no digestion takes place. It's immediate energy. Meat is what kills your pancreas. This dude has no clue what he is talking about. If you listen to this guy you will end up with every disease americans and others get. Fruits and veggies supply your body with everything it needs. Do some research.

  • Amen. You obviously know your nutrition, and the speaker doesn't (well he's not a nutritionist, he's a Dr.)

    To repeat: the body will break down any food to get the simple carbs it needs and uses as fuel. Anything other than fruit gives the body un-nessesary work.

  • why did the clip stop so abruptly ? Surely there is more to this lecture, right ? I agree with Dr. Clement. I've had the worst health decline ever in my life from 811rv... These days, we need higher mineral content foods to stay raw.
