I remember your Dad very well, as he was one of the first LA cartoon shows that I watched from age 4 on. In 1953, I was upset that he left and was replaced with a faux Captain. But, over the 50s, I was happy to see your Dad in, though minor, supporting roles on TV, like Dragnet, if I am not mistaken. Though others "zoomed", your Dad "moozed" and did that inverted eyeglasses thing with his hands, which I still do to embarrass my grown kids.
Sheriff John and Captain Jet were my two favorite kids' show hosts when I was growing up in the San Fernando Valley in the fifties. I came home from school at lunch to watch Sheriff John, and then caught Captain Jet after school was over for the day. I "zoomed" and "moozed" with the best of them! Of course, I won't forget Engineer Bill, Skipper Frank, Jimmy Weldon and Webster Webfoot, Tom Hatton, et. al., either! God bless Dal and the boys!
I loved Captain Jet! I was once on the show. I think it was 1953 when I was 5. My Mom's friend had the tickets and her daughter invited me. I remember being scared the "Rocket" was going to take off! I wonder if I could ever find the episode that I was on? I'd LOVE to see it. I had no idea Captain Jet had done so much. RIP.
I was about 2 years old. Being lugged around thru different personal apperances. I was able to play with old costumes and helmet long after the show was pulled and injeted on the east coast. So this signature was a one time special or did he clown with words?...Youngest son
Sorry To Hear About His Passing. I Watched Caption Jet. When I Was A Young One., The One Show That Stick's To My Mind Is When He Gave His Signature SALUTE,BACKWARDS.MOOOOOZ
@POLI3721 Thank you for remembering the backwards MOOOOZ! I was beginning to think I was the only one. I was born in 1952, so the memory of Captain Jett is hazy, but my brother and I saluted each other with ZOOM and MOOZ for years!
@cornermoose Glad To Hear From You, I Thought I Was Only 1, Born'43, Bro n Me Exch.Salutes. Me "MOOOZ" Wch'd Everyday. Here's 1, 4u " Ha Ha The New Flex Straw Fun For The Kids n Ma n Pa. I still have his autographed picture (as shown at the end of this short clip) which I got from him at one of his personal appearances. Plus he signed my autograph book. So sad to see him go.
You can see him in Cat From Outer Space and 7 Faces of Dr. Lao and Son of Flubber and Clambake and Wee Sing: Old King Cole and Frozen Assets and The Birds, need I go on?
Thanks for the your input, much appreciated! I was about three then, but because of your dad I grew up to be a pilot and have worked all over the world, will never forget him. Your dad lives on in many of us, call us living memorials maybe. Thanks to You and Youtube for bringing him back and God Bless.
Hi. Someone on Faces and Places dug it up. Not sure how it was recorded. It might have been early form of video or a later transfer from film camera like 8mm. Which grandchild are you?

Ya. I was 2 or 3 when my daddy did this one. He already had 15 years of radio behind him. My mom designed the campy space suit. What a creative team.
