  • the 3 people are definitely Sue Sylvester!

  • Three morons are MORONS!!!

  • Superb.

  • li sentite i fuochi d'artificio al 4:40 salire al cielo ed esplodere????

  • I'M SIXTEEN AND I LOVE CLASSICAL MUSIC!!!!

    God, that felt good.

  • Stunning music. Heard it on the radio the other day. Have to download immediately from iTunes

  • we did a ballet to Respighi. EPIC.

  • this is fucking PERFECT!

  • I've loved this piece of music since 1985 when I heard it every Wednesday morning on the way to work... Simply beautiful....

  • @vanderburghmichael what a lovely way for you to go to work ~

  • I find my bliss in music. Like it you do to.

  • I am ecstatic to have been sent this piece by an old school friend as I had never heard it. Profoundly uplifting. Nice to have occasional surprises like this. Thanks for putting it up.

  • Actually, I think the ponderance of the drums adds to the performance. It gives it a definite no-nonsense air as if the dancers were really serious about what they were doing (if anyone actually danced to this music) . In all, a great performance.

  • It certainly is one of the best performances. The drums are a bit too boomy for me toward the end.

I also feel - having known this entiire suite for the longest time - thanks to the ancient recordings by Franz Litschauer - that the temp should be maintained at a rock steady pace until just before the end, when at 4:55 or so on this performance it should really start to broaden out, emphasizing the inherently triumphant quality of the ending which is clearly in the music.

  • I agree, Respighi does not get the recognition he deserves.

Without going into too much tedious detail, your graphic for me is fitting. This piece, many years ago, marked a new beginning for me, in a new State with a new love. An early morning music program on NPR would play this as an opening theme every Wednesday morning, and I would wake up hearing it. It will always remind me of a new dawn, and hope.

  • @8888Rik Was that the ABC Classic FM requests?

  • Respighi has never gotton the credit he deserves. His melodies and orchestrations are superb and all of his music that I have heard really captures the feelings and emotions it was apparently intended to. They don't make 'em like him anymore, at least the y don't promote and encourage them. Modern composers seem to have a dislike of melody and harmony. I wonder why?

  • whose performance is this?

  • I call this the 5 minute, 26 second audible anti-depressant.... close your eyes and listen with an open mind and WOW!

  • My warmest thanks to you for sharing this amazing piece of composition.

  • I love this

  • whose recording is this? I find it the best one.

  • Lois @ Buldoo Just brilliant. I love it. Chases away the gloom & wakes me up. Thanks Otto!!

  • bugger off, this my special momento with this shizzel my nizzle! G -UNIT!!!!!!

  • Bravo!!

  • d gggggg aaaaaaaa dddddddddd _/ d GG AA dddddddddddd The composition is based on this bass... Genial!!

  • @SetOfAllReals... no! it's in D major!

  • But, in thurth, there isn't a tonally piece... the work contains a modal material.....

  • This in D flat ?

  • I can't listen to this and not remember of Harvie Krumpet.

  • @mspitz2004 You are so right me too , , the first time I heard this pieces was on harvie krumpet and from that moment on I fell in love , verdi dies irae is amazing too y love that short my family think is sad , but I believe is hopefull

  • My mom likes rap and pop.

    I like Respighi. I win. =]

  • @racket238

There are young people who are much ahead of the world around them! They often have to fight against hindrances and drawbacks from others who think they know the right thing just because they are older - and because, as we know and B. Russel said, fools are always sure of themselves, while the intelligent remain thoughtful and hesitant.

  • ...Breathtakingly beautiful (:

  • Love this piece. However IMHO the Antal Dorati/Mercury Version is not so stressed and has more swing, it's my preferred version.

  • I love this musical piece of the second

    suite from old days.

I thank for a splendid sound source.

    Thank you very much.

  • simply uplifting. possibly one of the first l, lV, and V chord progressions so copied in mid to late 20th century recordings. think of Louie Louie. As a matter of fact, search Louie Louie on you tube.

  • sometimes i think that we can find paradise in the music...

  • @aneres56 "The ineffable music of the great classics comes from the exquisite regions of Nirvana where only happiness that is beyond love reigns..." - Samael Aun Weor

Often get same feelings about walzes of Strauss jr., especially "Geschichten aus dem Wiener Wald", but generally the whole genre of old classical music is 'divine'...

  • ABSOLUTELY nothing against this posting, but does anyone have a recording or posting in which the Harpsichord is more predominant?

  • Yeah, I rekon - this recording is a little weak

  • i just cant get enough of it...mindblowing

  • My mom had me look this up because she said it was wonderful and she used to play it over and over. She was right, it's beautiful!

  • My mom was ( and still is ) a big Respighi fan as well

He might be my favorite composer

    Cheers to all

  • My God, I love this piece. :D

  • this is prettyyy prettyyyyy pretyyyy goood if i may quote mr. david

  • Grandioso davvero. A so really big sound of the Nature!

  • I would love to know more about this awesome performance of the Bergamasca.... who's conducting and which ochestra, recording etc. Thanks for posting this!
