This happen to me aswell but the only way to fix it is to buy another hard drive and connected with a Data transfer kit which can move all data into the new hard drive then it should work. If not then my gaming life is over grab a gun to my head and pull the trigger. Because I'm not spending another 6 years or less starting all over again cause that's a waste of a life time.
@DrStabatoe In England there's no trailer parks and I've got a HD flat screen TV you asshole! Which can't fit in a fucking trailer you moron unless your joking around.
@shadowalkzx i had a couple friends take a look at it. the head and arm of the drive were defective and it would have been too costly to get fixed so i just bought a new HDD....
@shadowalkzx forgot to mention: my buddies work in IT and deal with this stuff on a regular basis. apparently once the drive is clicking it's pretty much finished. if u're lucky u can still recover the data but the process is usually quite costly.... good luck
What it cause: The xbox 360 can't connect to the harddrive disk.
My solution which worked for me. Take out the HDD and turn the xbox on and start playing a random game for a couple minutes. Shake the HDD a bit, or knock it SOFTLY on your hand. Put it back in and turn xbox back on.
this just happened to me and the thing you want to do is remove your hardrive then turn it on plug it back in and it will restart then it will come back no problem but a big reason for this happening is saving games while using cheats and using cheats at all it will corrupt your hard drive
i had treh same problem i diddnt fuck with anything but i took out teh hardrive then put it back it while the game was on and it worked idk might work for u
Same thing happened with me, yeah, your hard drive is corrupted and will never work again. You're gonna have to buy a new one and when you do, you can only recover your gamertag and redownload map packs and songs. Everything else, progress in campaigns, stories, and etc, are going to be gone forever. Microsoft seriously needs to fix these things.
Idk how it happens but I got a new hard drive and it's fine now. The noise went away but I have to start all over in every one of my games except for COD4 and COD WaW. Idk why. But yeah, to fix it, just buy a new one. That's all I can say.
the method has a 50/50 chance of working so dont be mad if it doesn't work.. BUT it doesnt hurt to try it.. it might work long enough for transferring information such as your saving spots and progress in games.. XBOX Live wont restore that.. just your achievements. Sorry for the bad news.. but it is physically broken you WILL need to buy another..
right now im trying the freezer method to see if i can transfer ALL my information off the HDD onto a new one.. the method is basically where you put the HDD in the freezer for 4 or more hours.. it doesn't matter u r not going to break it any more than it already is.. but i do recommend putting some sort of covering around it.. (i.e. plastic wrap.. or extra large zip lock bag to cover the connectors from moister build-up).
Hey man ive had the same problem as of recent with the clicking and every thing and i have cracked open the hard drive casing and checked everything.. unfortunately I have some bad news. u r going to have to go out and buy another HDD that has a transfer cable and disc for the 360.
i got the same error....and yea i can play my xbox without the hard drive on...your hard drive is screwed really hard to fix...im just gonna buy a new one...maybe you should do the same

i found out how to fix, your going to need gas and a lighter. and about 299.99$
step 1. throw your xbox out the window.
step 2. pour gas on it
step 3. light it.
step 4. go to a store.
step 5. buy a playstation 3
