Tomb Raider 1, 2 & 3- good times

Damn I want to rush off to ebay and try and buy an early playstation. The Core Design games where without a doubt the best. yes the graphics and everything got better with time but the game also lost that something. And the latest incarnations feel small. There was a feeling of scale to the first three, and yes the nerve racking jumps and loneliness.

TR1,2,3 were the best... after these all Tr series were '' remix '' by the first 3 games. i dont say i dont like the new TR ... just say =)

The new tomb raiders are not that good because there is not the same feeling of isolation and raiding the tombs alone.

You are totally right. The old Tomb Raider games are much better than the newer ones, especially if you play them on PS1. I like TR3 the most, but I also like the other four, they are great... :)

The collisioning in the new Tomb Raiders has regressed from TR1! The new games are so awful. Tomb Raider 1 was about being alone in dark, scary places and really long jumps. The new ones are just about stupid combat and annoying side characters! What happened to the atmosphere? I can remember every detail of TR1, the new ones aren't memorable at all.

Man, these games had me stoked as a kid. I remember getting up on the weekends in my pajamas and having a blast shooting bad guys. Later I went to the store and bought Carnivores 2, soon after that I bought AVP... ;)

Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld were all too short. Legends or at least Anniversary is where the games crashed. 1-4 were the best!

These 3 were the only great tomb raider games. I think the series collapsed under its own weight, with peoples growing expectations. Well, if anyones actually interested, i think the best tomb raider games are: 1. Tomb Raider 2. Tomb Raider 3 3: Tomb Raider 2 4. Tomb Raider Chronicles 5. Tomb Raider AOD 6. Tomb Raider TLR 7. Tomb raider Anniversary (i hated how they messed with tr1 though) 8. Legend 9. Underworld

atmosphere(music, settings, progress) was the strongest element in those games. tr4 was the ultimate peak imho, since then it went downwards. i played tr4 4 or 5 times on pc. i don't remember how much i sweared and cursed while playing angel of darkness. and i was so bored to death i didn't even bother going further from peru onwards in legend. i havent tried underworld yet but seems theres no hope.

I LOVE the old one because its the "real" Lara Croft and because the games are very long. You cant play it to the end in just one day like Legend and Underworld. Too sad. Great graphic but too short story D;

I wholeheartedly agree!! In underworld there is not a bit the "real" Lara.! The graphic is awesome, but It's absolutely desolate that the "real" Lara is gone.. :(

i am a super fan of lara i miss the old times where u barley see the detail of her face... i missed that long jumps! i really prefer the old graphics of lara.... ;( and it took me like a month to finish lara 1 and i have never finished lara 3 coz it was super hard... i was 5 :P now i have a ps3 and i lost my old laras so... i really liked the long games..!!! miss u my LARA !!! really...

I think that EIDOS should do the remak of Tomb Raider's 1,2,3,4 for PS3 =P that would be awsome...i know we already have a remak from Tomb Raider 1! The Anniversary..but for PS3 would be great =D

Eh you consider Tomb Raider 4 to be a bump? A large portion of fans would disagree with you. TR4 was Tomb Raiding all the way through pretty much (no military compounds, urban soroundings, city buildings etc etc) It was the most atmospheric out of all the PSX titles too.

it's more a personal preference. I thought all the areas were too familiar, and Egypt had already been done. I liked the globe trotting of the other games. And I didn't think the military compounds in TR 1 & 2 that bad.
