I'm pissed since I have the exact drive but it seems as though its incompatible (the flash software) with Snow Leopard ... what am I to do ... I only have 1 change left so it's frustrating ... I'm a noob, There is a site offering firmware for my Matshita dvd-r uj-898. It doesn't state whether the firmware will allow my drive to run region free. Could someone have a look at this link to point me in the right direction :)

Why don't you an actual video that can properly explain the step by step process rather than making a 1 min video with shitty music gloating on what you've accomplished while many others are still trying to figure it out.
I followed some simple 'Terminal Instructions' from the Apple forum and watched this video ;) My MacBook, UJ-857 drive, (previously locked), is now region free!!! Thanx Nevkin :)
I'm not totally sure, but you shoud be able to run it. mine is a white macbook with MATSHITADVD-R UJ-857D. search on google for your model and if you run it, tell me about the results.
So can you explain how to do it? or what was the purpose of the video?

My state is permanent, firmware is KBV, and RPC-2(locked). Do you have any idea how to find firmware and unlock this drive?
