I hear this a lot in the summer, sounds really freaky 50ft from your door. Saw the fox once while making the noise, mystery solved. He actually seemed to be taunting my dog.

OMG....this is f'in crazy!! I just called 911 a few moments ago because I heard a sound like this and seriously thought someone was being attacked or that someone had dropped a baby off behind my house...one of the questions the first dude I spoke to asked me was...have you ever heard coyotes or foxes howl....
I've been hearing this noise for years around my home in PA. I always thought it was some sort of nocturnal bird but never a fox. Thanks for putting an end to the mystery!

I thought the same thing as well. I was just watching tv and the porch door was open and I thought someone was getting murdered.

I heard that sound VERY loud outside my door last night. It woke me from a dead sleep with my heart pounding! We're near Fredericksburg.

That is a Fox Bark not a Howl but they do Howl like
any other dog would!! This fox sounds like a young

@IndigoCat17 yeah it is a bark i would recognize the howl. howls are a little longer and not as frequent, along with higher pitched than a wolf

@savvysiren a friend descibed a fox howling as woman crying/screaming.
but yeah in this vid it sounds more like a baby.

Yes, it is. Since construction in our area, fox and deer have moved into our area. They did rid us of possum, racoons and rabbits however.
