Maybe it's the right thing to do, but Shiro killing Saber is just unfathomable. If I were Shiro, I'd have a mental breakdown or I'd let her kill me instead. There's no way I could kill a lady with a golden heart who's put her life on the line for me way too many times

Rin doesn't get the opening she needs to stop Sakura and gets consumed by her and then when u go to greet Sakura she consumes you too.

Armageddon and game over. No seriously play the game. That's what happens when u try to save Saber in this route

@VanquisherX To be honest, I played Mortal Kombat when I was like 6, and Doom and GTA when I was all of 10 or 11, so it's somewhat misleading to suggest gore or violent scenes are a guaranteed recipe to distort one's mind, even in youth. Of course, s/he doesn't seem like the sharpest pencil in the box, so I'll give you that. And the whole ToS deal. Not to mention the whole emotive, evocative storyline shabang. Out of all the pairings in this game, I'd say that Sakura's the most deserving of Shirou's affection, without a doubt she lived the most pitifull life, worse even than Illya's.

Well, yeah, Sakura lived a really pitiful life... but Illya is, in my opinion, the most pitifull character of Fate... She dies in the 3 ways (even in Fate, she dies a year after the end of that route).

well, if you play the entire game it makes since, at this point Sakura is confirmed to be the "Holy Grail" which is tainted by Avenger a heroic spirit that has sucked up all the evil of the world thousands of years ago, (sounds familiar to some people?) so alas Sakura's grandfather placed part of the holy grail from the 3rd world into her, making her the grail. With that people she could control anything that she absorbs especially beings made out of mana such as a servant. = Saber + Berserker.

@solopy567 when shirou and saber went to ryouddou temple they were attacked by real assasin, then saber put shirou inside the emple and clsoe the door and went to fight with assasin, but assasin put a trap to saber and she were consumed by a shadow. and she disspaear of the world. she appear again like dark saber in einzbern forest and try to kill iliya and shirou but they escape thanks t archer help. sakura take the control of saber and berseker they two went to darkness

IF shirou didn't kill her, then Saber would've recovered and went back to Sakura (who's at this point battling Rin) you'll find out that Saber stops Rin and allows Sakura to Absorb her and in her anger of her sister cause her immense pain equal to what she experienced on the first day she went in her adopted household one of her famous line is "Ah, Never knew Rin was a (Spoiler)and she's crying already on day one, i should absorb you shirou so you can hold her hand or something," then it ends QQ

Yeah, but there's something I just can't stand. Shirou even killed Saber in order to save Sakura, but weren't there any other way? I mean, they could have thought a way to save both of them at least. And...it's just that Shirou kills Saber with "no hesitation": it's unfair. That's my opinion.

Well, and I'll comment on your last response as well, is even though Shirou says he'll forget about her, you know he won't. Saber couldn't be saved, she was blackened by Sakura and became her Servant. The special thing with this is that this Saber is STILL Saber, but her alignment is totally changed. She is actually evil at that point. Let's say Shirou used Rule Breaker,her behavior and appearance would not change. It would've been a wasted projection and probably would have gotten him killed.

Agreed. Even though my Archer obsession runs deep I can't help but admit Heaven's Feel was the best of the three.

And out of all three they chose Fate... Why, we'll never know. (Well the lack of rape/time paradoxes/endless impalment/heart extraction and savage deaths might be my first clue...)

no fate was chosen because it is the cannon ending. others are just branches(explained during interview with nasu in a fate magazine, thus no good end for fate). however fate's showcase of avalon is still pretty badass. its just that shirou gets a chance to shine in the branches(UWB and Ninelives bladeworks). Heck i like all 3 equally and if one was missing it wouldnt be a complete set. fate/zero is epic as it is an actual war(less love love more killing and NP using, also kiritsugu is badass).

Fate isn't the canon ending. The game says that HF True is the "True Ending of Fate/stay night". Literally.

Even so, I don't like to see one of the routes as canon. I like to see the three as a whole.

the game didnt say anything. TYPEMOON said that fate is considered to be MOST canon(all routes can be considered canon,but it's said that shirou is more likely to go to Fate because of his personality). the anime focuses on fate while combines factors from other scenerios(UBW is added to the berserker fight). ever wondered why there isnt a "good" ending for fate? search the fate interview online they have it in japanese(i think theres an eng. ver somewhere).

And no. That interview didn't say that. If it's the interview that I think that it's, then didn't say nothing, only Kinoko explaining the meaning of the routes, but he didn't say nothing about canonicity or whatever. The only reference we have to that it's that Tiger Dojo. And that in the final Tiger Dojo they talk of the structure of the scenarios.

The only reason why the anime cover the first route it's because IT'S THE FIRST ROUTE, and it's the route that introduces you to the world of the game.
