  • Can anybody help me? I'm looking to become a druid. I find peace from nature. I'm a 15 year old boy, my grandmother follows the druid path she gets solace from the sea and the earth. My teacher at school is teaching me about druidry but there's still one unanswered question, how do I BECOME a druid? I'm really interested in what I can get out of druidry and what I can put into it. Blessings.

  • Wonderful video! I love the quote from Alfred Lord Tennyson, BTW - he's one of my favorite Poets :)

Féadfaidh an Spiorad Awen a bheith in éineacht leat i gcónaí! )O( )O( )O( /l\

  • I realized with a great revelation there were many things I remained truly neutral about, and I had been going on, choosing dualistic responses, from a totally detached point of view, after abandoning explanations of neutrality, because the neutralness was so deep rooted. Why was I expected so often to choose a side? Most of the time if I were to follow my heart I ended up in an androgynous unmarked 'third option' type zone.

  • Great one!! Blessed be by the Three Rays of Awen! /l\

  • Another great presentation, well done, I have added , looking forward to seeing more of your educational videos....

  • I really like this video. Job well done!!

  • Beautiful!!

"Did you ever read poor old George Orwell's uh.. 1984? Yes, yes, that's wonderful. That would be, could be, the palest imagined shadow of what a world would be like under the rule of the secret use of Scientology with no remedy in existence." - L. Ron Hubbard, Philadelphia Doctorate Course Tape 20

    Video proof here: watch?v=OIAQpJe0MA0

For L. Ron Hubbard to wish a world like 1984 - something must seem amiss, vinakti?

  • @vinakti

"Convictions, seized church documents and defectors affidavits demonstrate that Scientologists have already indulged in burglary, kidnapping, false imprisonment, espionage, blackmail, and conspiracies to steal government documents and to obstruct justice."

    - Judge A. Wallace Tashima, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit

  • It is the responsibility of Wiccans and Druids,(male and female), to communicate with, and engage in assisting the various other religious groups,(Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhist's,etc), helping the homeless, abused women, etc. Druidry is more than ceremonies in the sacred groves. even if its just online, do youre bit! even a simple comforting word can save a life or spark someones drive to succeed in life!...........this doesnt mean charging up to others in a frenzy of zeal. be sensible.

  • I love your video.

  • can you be a druid but not decended from any

  • @freak4naruto It is possible. But normally, followers of pagan religions were involved with them in a past life and want to feel the way they did in that life. So, you may not be descended of any druids, but you may have been one in a past incarnation.

  • beautiful video :D does anyone know what the name of the song is?

  • Wisdom, Piery, Vision, Courage, Integrity, Perserverance, Hospitality, Moderation, Fertility.

  • lol I'm actually really happy to see this debat, Since my dad is of descent and my mom is African im glad to call myself a druid

  • Point taken...one thing for sure is that I can appreciate Druids spiritual way of life...I'm an African descendant who grew up Catholic but I've been actively learning and adopting the spiritual traditions of my ancestors and their God concept...it so simple and holistic. I hope that both African spirituality and Druidism become more popular around the world...I think we'll all be better for it...at least Mother Earth will. Blessings to you.

  • Druids are essentially europeans that follow the ancient African concept of spirituality.

  • Not at all. Druidry is based from the mythology of the Indo-Europeans, especially the Celtic peoples. People from many nations follow the path.

  • Indo-Europeans? What I do know is that the ancient Africans this world's earliest people to honor their ancestors under their concept that only the physical body dies, but the person's spirit continues to live (life after death) and we can call on our ancestors for guidance...Also, the Druids God concept parallels ancient Africas. Perhaps you should read the works of great Druid and Druid inspired authors on the subject like Gerald Massey and Alvin Boyd Kuhn. It gets deeper. Peace & Blessings

  • Well of course the Africans were the first to believe those things. The Africans were the first humans on the planet. Like all other indigenous peoples of the world, they practiced primal shamanism, and still do today. One way to describe an ancient Druid is a Shaman of the Celtic People, so Druidic practice -is- set apart from older, primal beliefs.

  • I liked, I feel these things naturally but also sometimes need guidelines/constants but i don't wish this to be 'religion' as it often ruins the world its appears like a wolf in sheeps clothing as it were, this i know but of course life evolves and there are constants or else we wouldn't live, doesn't' it make you go all fluffy haha, i want no positivity unless i can dance and i will only dance when the feeling i have is free and 'progress'.

  • Evolution has brought a new dimension on living in harmony with the natural world. Nothing stays the same

  • A'hem...there is also* evidence suggesting they also practiced human sacrifice.

Many would then be perplexed by the revival of a religion that committed such acts. The answer is rather simple: modern day druidry is for the most part, a reconstructionist neopagan religion or path. They take various facts from ancient druidry, and create their own rituals, morals, and beliefs and merge them with the ancient-laid groundwork to create modern-day druidry.

  • Yes, Ancient Druids did human sacrafice. Yet the fact that Abraham did not doubt that God would ask him to sacrafice his son points to the idea that Judaism practiced it. Jesus died for the sins of all; that is a sacrafice. Many religions involved human sacrafice. If you ask why Druidism is reviving based on this then why are these two religions still in existence? Because they no longer do.

    Blessings.

  • @SeramiNefera Most religions today dont do any kind of sacrafice (you cant say none, because some small ones do.) And the druids all died out, Modern druidism has no real link with the Druids of old, They dont even have a claim, like wicca does.

it is mainly a guess about what they were like, as they taught everything through word of mouth

  • @Celticborne Wicca was created in 1951 by Gerald Gardner,In the old times the eightfold year wasn't celebrated Druidry today was shaped by A friend of Gardner.Ritual nudity originated as Gerald Gardner was a naturist. Hedgewitches and village cunning men and women have a truier link to the old ways.Druidy is evolving and not static and Wicca also is evvolving doesn't mean it isn't good and valuable as a spiritual path because it is in't very old Both paths draw on fragments from the past

  • @Celticborne I agree that some of the smaller ones may indeed do sacrifices; I did not mean to make the sentence an absolute (grammar was horrible in that statement). No, nature does have it's light and darkness; it is also like a pendulum that reverts back to another time eventually. As for what you said about the Druids. It is true that none of the Druids really survived, but the bards were storytellers that kept much of the old beliefs alive concerning the Sidhe (Tuatha).

  • @Celticborne (2nd) They were hunted and persecuted, but these people did carry on the oral tradition until the Christian monks placed some of what they said into writing (although it was Christianized). The Seanchai, although not of the fili, were storyteller historians who kept much of the oral tradition alive. Druidism may have slipped into much obscurity, but many of the traditions and knowledge live in the stories that remain. It is reconstruction of the past ways.

  • @Celticborne (3rd) Most religions do not stay the same way that they had once been because they alter to fit the culture that they are in. Historians have noted that the Celtic peoples (more as tribes then a single people) usually blended their old beliefs with the beliefs of the people they dwelt near in order to create a newer culture style that was still based on the old. So, I am not too concerned about claims. However, even Wiccas claims to unbroken traditions are challenged.

  • @Celticborne (4th) Many dispute Gardeners claims that he learned what he did from witches (the only one who can truly know the truth was Gardener himself on that). I am not saying Wicca is a broken tradition revived; I am saying that many claim that it is. As for Druidism being broken due to the old Druids dying out. Some converted and passed the traditions on (if you can't beat them, join them). So, perhaps Druidism wasn't as broken as some people wanted back then. Who knows?

  • @Celticborne (4th) We cannot really know how quickly the Druids were all killed and as long as a few survived the tradition could be passed on (albeit more informally then the beginning) maybe that is why Seanchai and other oral story tellers still memorized much of the lore and history. To pass the old knowledge on until persecution died. However, I do not mind that Druidism is a reconstructed religion. Most tales can give a fair idea of the Druids old teachings.

  • @SeramiNefera i've done plenty of research and there is absolutely NO proof that the Druids performed ritualistic human sacrifices. they DID perform animal sacrifices, however.

  • @SeramiNefera people need to realise just because theseold religions offer answers modern religion cant, doesnt mean the old ways are allsun and love and light. Darkness is an inherent part of life, so the religions will have a dark side, even if that means sacrifice. The past is a savage time.

  • To those who are curious...

Druids were the both the judicial and priestly caste of the Celtic society. As most of their knowledge was handed down orally from generation to generation, most of it was lost to the sands of time.

However, as with most early folk religions, the Celtic religions were mostly based around various forms of nature worship, as well as containing shades of animism. While their love and respect for Mother Nature is admirable, there is all evidence suggesting...

  • druidry was the main religion of the british folk before christianity arrived to this beautiful land...a beautiful religion!

  • Who could say why you haven't heard of it? We'd have to go through your life history and ours and see how they differ. Suffice to say that like an uncommon word, Druidry is obscure. That's all there is to it. There's some good information on wikipedia, if you're curious about it.

  • Heh, errrr...... Druidism is a non-dogmatic religion and way of life, you can be polytheistic or have just one God or Goddess. I'm not a hippie :P, nor do I believe aliens built Atlantis. O.o

  • Let me get this straight... Druidism is like a hippi thing where you like the environment and believe that it came from aliens who built atlantis?... Im so confused.

  • To paraphrase guest user 127001. You didn't get it straight.

  • The username is balius88, and if i didnt get it straight then can you point out what druidism is and why I have never heard of it.

  • I can't describe it in a satisfactory manner myself but you never heard of it because it was driven under ground. It began with the Romans and was finished when Christianity arrived. It was the old belief of the Celts. At one time it was a fairly common belief system until they were nearly all killed by opposing factions. I say nearly since there is no evidence they were all killed nor evidence that any survived... so it's open to debate.

  • @balius88 Druidism is, simply put, a way of being one with Mother Earth. There are various beliefs with this and any pagan path. There are polytheistic pagans, monotheistic pagans, pantheistic pagans, atheistic pagans, and likely, even pagans who believe that everything was put here by aliens who also happened to build atlantis. As for why you havent heard of it, I have to agree with sandinthestorm. I hope I helped in some way.

  • The audio quality is actually painful to listen to in this.

The Rest on the content however is awesome.

  • I don't think the audio is too bad, but maybe that's because my hearing is already going as it is lol.

  • Exceptional!

  • Light and pleasant

  • It's true. I am a member of 3 major druid groups and none of them profess to have unbroken lineage from the ancient druids. It is however inspired by them, and in Druidry inspiration is one of the most important things we have. I am sad to see that fuzzygoddess' comment has a -6 rating. She is correct. But neo-druidism is a valid religion regardless of its origins.

  • I enjoyed this. Good music. I was a little surprised at the last virtue though. lol

  • What song is this? t rings some rather strongly tolling bells in mine mind's eye...

  • Its a Silly Wizard song but I can't remember which. LOL

  • not all made up, but carried thru from the original practices.....from old texts, manuscrpits, and just plain and simply of word of mouth thru the ages....i kno, im a druid in the proccess and studies its origins from obver 2000 years ago.

  • Thanks for the info! ;)

  • Keeping in mind this is neo-Druidism. All made up, nothing of the original included.

  • then that would be called wicca.

  • Very true. Doesn't make it any less valid though. And Druidry has nothing to do with Wicca except that Wicca is also neo-pagan.

  • Except of course... spirit/energy

  • Nicely done. I like the format (virtue, pleasant picture, quote (although the quotes were a little quick to fade sometimes)). Pleasant music, too.

  • Perfect video gypsy i love it keep them coming.
