@ProtegeTuype I don't exactly hate them per say, I just don't trust their reliability. Too sophisticated for me. I'd take a TDI over a hybrid anyday. They are just as efficient if not more efficient, and they are proven to be more reliable even than a normal gasoline powered car. Plus I love the sound of a diesel engine. Music to my ears. :-)

The Golf TDI is my favourite diesel.

This hybrid car has a 1.3 liter inline 4 cylinder gas engine, and it also has an electric motor. when the car is at a stoplight, the engine shuts off to save gas. my dad has this same car, and he gets 48 miles per gallon, compared to 30 or so miles per gallon of other vehicles. that is the economical part. my dad got his 2011 honda insight for around $19,000. Hope this helps.

@eliroxxmysoxx this uses regular gas. the only other expense i could think of that is different than a fully gasoline vehicle, is that you have to replace the batteries after a couple thousand miles, not sure how much exactly, maybe 50,000 or 80,000 miles? I'm not really sure, it might even be 150,000 miles.

@eliroxxmysoxx It can be a 4, 6 or 8 cylinder gas engine but most popular is a 4. An electric motor accompanies it. The car will automatically switch between the 2 motors depending on the driving demands, the electric motor will run at idle and low speeds then the gas motor will kick in if more power is needed or the battery needs charging. The brakes also charge the battery.

They are no better than a diesel VW Golf. More expensive to maintain and the economy isnt that much better.
