Man you and your video guided me to buying a YC25d and the boss Rt-20, I probablyl wont get around to playing my other organs for a few weeks. This thing is killer and I can't get over how with property rotary simulation(or real leslie), how Hammond it can sound. This is the ony organ that can really get that authentic sound and still do a great Vox or Farfisa sound. The Yamaha is a workhorse!
I seriously love this demo man. Thank you for putting it up. It's very informative and gives a great idea of what to expect from this organ. I consider myself a Vox guy,but you really can't go wrong with this organ. I've got to get one!!!
@Peacefrog35 Yamaha organs are severely underrated. The Vox sound is classic, but I think that overall it's a tad overrated. I constantly hear horror stories about how easily Vox organs break on the road. Yamaha's however, are built like tanks! I've got 2 Yamahas, this one and a YC-20, and they've both been gigged pretty heavily since this video, including being dropped and spilling a beer or two, and the worst that's ever happened is a blown fuse, which is the easiest thing in the world to fix!
@Mikemaniax That is great to know that they are so tough. I think I've been lucky with my Vox organs...never a problem with either one of my Continentals..... I had a Jaguar that was damaged when it arrived, but was repaired easily. I have had Gibson G101s too and they are a bit heartier though. I'd have to say for durability and sound, I'm sold on the Yamaha! I love that it has purcussion. My G101 has it ,but not Hammond sounding like the Yamaha. I just found one locally on CL...wish me luck!
Found one of these in my town need it beautiful all of them i've seen are impeccably clean and working beautifully better quality than the hyped vox's n some farfisas, more versatile and aesthetically mindblowing too!
i was looking for an instrument that will do a hammond sound for my jazz ensemble class and sound like a combo organ for my garage rock band, and i think i just found it. What do you think the chances are of finding one of these for under a grand?
@zombiesarebad67 There's one right now on eBay, but it now for $1100, but I bought mine for $400. Overall chances are pretty eh... Keep a watchful eye on eBay and Craigslist.
@Mikemaniax just found a YC-20... close enough for me. Can't wait for it to get here. Excellent demo by the way, i have you to thank for this purchase. So thanks!!
@zombiesarebad67 The YC-20's good. I own one of them too. It's sound is closer to a Vox than anything, but it's better suited to gigging than the 25d. Although, in general, Yamaha built their organs to be practically indestructible. Great find though.
Hey man... Looking for one of these YC-25D's! Had one but it got stolen. Can you put me in touch with someone that can help me out? Thanks! Ross rosskarp@yahoo.com Also if you would like to hear the tones I got from this model listen to The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight! All instrumental "Jam Band" But with Black Sabbath and Allman Bros. roots rather than Grateful Dead.
@rosskarp Dude I've been listening to your band for quite some time and it kicks ass. I'm impressed to know that you used the YC-25D, must be a pretty versatile machine hearing the vast spectrum of organ sounds on your records. If I see one for sale, I'll let you know for sure. That is, of course, if you haven't found one already.
@ThierryLouis What the fuck did I do to you? I didn't go into your video and start harrasing you about what I hated about the way you looked. You're a fucking dick! I hope you get gang raped!
Hey, great video! We're hoping to get our hands on one of these soon. By the way, how did the hammer-tip replacement go with the Pianet T? We did that with our T, using clavinet.com hammers. Went splendidly! I love clavinet.com. I hope the restoration went well! :)
@FLRSKnoxville No, I actually didn't get the new hammers. I will once I have $75 to blow. Most of the old hammers are still pretty good, but the ones that weren't, I found that if turned upside down, I get a much throatier tone out of some of the tines. Watch the Pianet T video I made.
@FLRSKnoxville i actually have a yc-25d for sale in north carolina, near raleigh. in good shape: fully functional, not museum quality, but w/bass pedals, legs, and a fairly worn leg-case. so ... reply if you're still looking.
@cptNEVO Do you still have the bass pedals? I've been looking for the bass pedals for this and have been unsuccessful, if you don't mind shipping them to Philadelphia that is.
@Mikemaniax Same situation here! I also have rusty reeds, so it'll be a while. I'll try to document the restoration process. Cool keyboards you have there!

How is the key action on the YC-25 ? Is it very light ? I am fascinated by this organ and your excellent demo.
TwistedBeats615 7 months ago
@TwistedBeats615 Very much like every other combo organ. Plastic keys. But very smooth. If you're looking to do glissando and things like that.
