I'm curious. Whilst a lovely piece of engineering, what were the circumstances under which the existing ladder was unsuitable for the client?
This solution (IMO) presents more hazards than it solves, obstructing the doorway in the event that the operator needs to egress rapidly, or if rescuers are trying to reach the operator after an accident. Especially pertinent since the walkway seems to obstruct access to the exterior door handle (positioned specifically NOT to be a work-at-height issue).
not very usefull, if the stairs are fixed you can up and down if the crane tower is operating (90. 180º..) if are fixed, you can up and down every moment and reduce the accidents of falls with
Completely unnecessary and rather dumb if you ask me.. you still have to climb up the 10 steps as oppose to the 4 attached to the carrier right below the cab.. and what are your supposed to do if you NEED to get out of the cab for whatever reason? wait 55 seconds for your electric ladder to unfold? or barrel roll over the rail? Im amazed at some of the stuff engineers are paid to design.

@XKP69X Been in service for over three years....no problem. Customer meets their OH & S obligations with it. They don't without it.

A standards compliant permanent ladder is not possible as it compromises the crane functions.

talk about over complicating it

Each stage exists for a specific reason...as per the crane owner's requirements.

lol he requested a 55 second delay before he can actualy do anything as apose to having a perment ladder in position?
its cool though
