  • I saw this video and was inspired to learn how to play this song. i've been playing the cello for almost 5 years and would just like to say you did a great job :D

  • Here is a good tip: play with your bow closer to the bridge to get a like a fuller sound. Great job :D

  • Wait a sec. I'm in #4 and I definitely not as good as you...I'm only on adagio and allegro

  • It's amazing.

How much time do you spend on praticing a day? :)

  • @139Christine About half an hour :) thanks!

  • What Suzuki book is this in?

  • @Yeahbuddy8155 I think the fourth one

  • i have been play ing this for little over a month now and have a recital in one week but dont sound quite as good as you. i have real trouble switching to harmonics and back.tips?

  • @cello9952 Hi!

Well it al starts with practicing of course, but when you have troubles with harmonics you will have to study this very very slowly. It sounds boring but this WILL work. Every day you have to speed it up and make shire you practice WITH a metronome, this helps. Also loosen up a bit in the left hand. Switching positions starts with a relaxed flexible left hand. So don't pinch to hard and it will improve, I am certain :)

  • Wow, you're really good!

  • I'm playing this for a recital tomorrow! I lost my music for it so I'm using youtube and especially your vid to jog my memory. Great job with this piece!

  • This is probably the best recording of tarantella I have ever heard! You play very well for a six year cellist! :) I am a nine month cellist ( with 7 years of experience as a violinist) trying to learn how to play this.

  • This is a great video. I'm trying to learn this song for a contest in May. This will help me a lot! (:

  • I know how to play tarantella! But i am off at some parts, it took non stop effort for two months! But you are WAY better than me because you are 1:fantastic-er than me! And 2: im better on the violin, but exceptable at playing the cello ( it sometimes strains my cause my hand is tiny) overall, YOU ARE MY TARANTELLA HERO! XD

  • Im playing this piece for solo & ensamble this year and just listening to this has helped me tremendously. Your absolutly fabulous :) Maybe once im done ill post a video of myself playing. Keep it up!

    ^_^

  • I have to play this piece this year, and I hope I can execute it as well as you did. I will be using this as a basis for comparison as I practice. It sounded fantastic. :)

  • I spent all of last summer trying to learn how to play this but never did. Your very good at playing this piece, it's magnificent.

  • @neff626 Thank you for all the kind comments I really appreciate this! Have a good day.

    !

  • wow you sound super good !!!!!!!!!! and your hot to lolz...

  • wow. I think you are realy bless by God;) never stop. Keep going:)

  • I think I'm in love with you.

  • Bellissima nel cello.

  • omg hope i get 2 play this good im in middle skool and i stared playinq the cello last year n im in advance now but im tryinq 2 go ahead of the class and learn newer higher advance thing but anyways good job playing keep up the goodwork :D

  • Nice. I played this song a few years ago as well. The shift up to the high D is a little offf, but not by much. The middle part is very beautiful. Keep playing!

  • Last 30 seconds was my favorite and well as the main melody

  • Ive been playing for 3 years well on my 3rd and do you know anything that could help me imporve significanty! Thanks :)

  • I love your playing!! I played this song in November during my teacher's master class but sadly the performance was not good . I missed a few note , XP Sad sad sad.....

  • Love this song, I have been playing for 5 years, can't wait to learn it! :D you did a-m-a-z-i-n-g! :D Go Cellos! :D

  • Wow o.o i play for 10 years now and I can tell you: THAT'S FREAKING AWESOME ;D I played the same song but it never sounded so good =( idk...

btw you play nice piano songs ((: <3

  • my friend plays this song fantastically and I listen to it every day

  • I just got this piece, I hope I will learn to play it this well :) this is awesome

  • amazing i used too play violia and i miss it sooo much......keep playing ur awsome

  • Wow I was only nine when you uploaded this! I'm in middle school now and on my first year if cello......any tips for a great tone?

  • @cutiestorm86 Hi!

I think you should hit the strings not to high --> right in the middle between the wooden comb and the black wood (don't know the name in english sorry).

You have to work with your wrist when you play fast notes, not to much with your whole shoulder. (A thing which i can do better right now ^^)

And try not to put TO much pressure on the strings, then you will get a forced tone...

    Cheers!

  • @hybridnysten Loved your performance! I've been taking cello at school for 6 years too, and I want to play this too *o* Really inspiring to listen to your version!! <3 (by the way, the black wood is the "finger board" and the wooden comb is the "bridge", hope that helps ^_^)

  • @xxxDolceMelodiesxxx Thank you for the words! ;D

  • @hybridnysten only hit your A-string when necessary!

  • Nice playing and good tone- keep the good work! -Cello Teacher "Miss Ruth"

  • @misssylvania1 Well thank you Miss Ruth! :)

  • Cello is my absolute favorite instrument. Every note comes out crisp and clear. Good job.

  • Your hair is really really blonde XD.. Your really good :D Nice tone :) Just a few odd pauses, but unless you know that piece, you wouldn't notice :)

  • My fingerings r good but my tone is bad. How do u make ur tone sound so good? I only played a year so u cant expect a lot from but u were awesome.

  • @leejustin99 Fingers need to be practiced that's the hard start :) Yeah maybe you were out of tone, or not really on the spot. A slight differnce will change the tone quit a lot so .... Cheer up you will get to it after a few years it's real fun :)

  • That was kind of AMAZING! I have to play this at a competition and I am dreading it because it looks so hard. Except when you play it. You make it look so easy. I need to learn how to play like that.

  • Fantastic sound and tone but too much shoulder, more elbow

  • nice tone :D

  • Nice job

  • since when justin bieber plays the cello? :P

  • I have a question. I am a starting cellist. Sometimes my strings wine while bowing, and i do not know why. I am not playing to close to the bridge. Might you be able to enlighten me as to why?

    Thank you in advance :)

  • @RWAHVideo

Maybe your strings are too old right now, or you use a wrong type of resen?

Or your hairs of your bow are to old ^^?

    Regards!

  • @hybridnysten

My cello is relatively new, and so are my strings.. im going to say rosin!

What type of rosin do you recommend?

    Thanks!

  • @RWAHVideo

I don't know much about rosin, but you can ask the local cello/violin builder, or in the internet?

but I think the rosin will probably not be the issue, maybe you have a 'wolftoon' don't know how you say it in English.

It's like a certain note which wines when you play them. Most of the time on the open strings D, A or C.

You can buy a tine little thing to put on the string below and depending on where you place it, the wining will dissapear.

  • @hybridnysten Many times, as a starter, I remember my cello would always sound screechy, but after much practice, it gets much much better. Keep practicing. Also it may be the amount of pressure you are putting on the bow and string. Maybe you are not pressing hard enough, or maybe you are pressing too hard. Experiment and keep practicing. Go cellos!

  • Congratulations you play well, you play in orchestras.?

  • @Alicinha891 Thanks! Yes in the LOJM : Limburgs orkest jeugd en muziek

  • I love your hair btw... but Nice job! If I may ask though, Where did you get your Cello? I am trying to get mine but they (as you already know) can be pretty expensive..

Keep up the Awesome work :)

  • @aSpadeRawrs Hi!

In a shop (violin builder) in Belgium :)

Yeah I know that's the only downside on the instrument..... :)

  • How much does a cello like that cost? Cause I Wana learn how to play!

  • this is really good! good job :)

  • My teacher wants me to lean this for Solo and Ensemble and trying out for a school and to be honest I don't think I can do what you just did and I have only been playing for three years!

  • This is ecxellent :) I've been now playing cello almost 7 years, but i'm not a half good as you! Your high notes are perfect.

  • To all who says it's too slow: Musicalskills is not about how fast you play, it's about the feeling you put in to it. :)

  • oh!

I learn cello three mounths and my teacher want me learn this.

  • Is it hard to lean?

    I love this!

    You are great!!:))

  • @lily93058 I think that is a very personal question. It is different for everyone :)

Personally I think it was a rather hard when I first started learning the piece because of the thumb position.

But now I find it a rather easy piece.

    Cheers!

  • What qualifications do you have? (A, B, C, D?

  • Wow! Who is the composser?

  • @efeblason Squire :) Don't know sure about his first name, I think William Henry

  • @0962matt How long did it take you to learn this?

  • Did you skip the repeat in the song when u played this?

  • @bmylove4444 I am not quite shure honestly :) But normaly not, I played it like my sheet music said. ^^

    Cheers

  • TOO SLOW :)

  • Ur really good. I'm playing the same song but I'm kinda bad because I only played a year.

  • That was really good! this is one of my favorite songs to play & you played it awesome!

  • Nice job bro!

  • Awesome! Keep posting !

  • Wonderful, u r so sweet :)

  • Me Mandarias Las Partes (:

  • hey just watched my m8 on his cello play this, he's grade 8 and amazing. You've played this really well :)

  • This is very good. But i think it needs more life. Cause this song was written as a dance around to save your life so a spider bite doesnt kill you. Its all about life. The skill is amazing. But like i said it needs life.

  • @Slomie521 Hi

Thanks for the comment :) I agree with your opinion ^^

  • @Slomie521 I think i'm to much logical but music has no life, it's just a mechanical wave '-'

  • @MrRenanwill I thought they were sound waves...which could mean the same as mechanical..idk..im dumb :P

  • Sorry I was on not my account like I was saying I play the cello and this is amazingRock on

  • Oh my goodness I play the cello and this amazing rock on

  • Woow so good!!!!!!!!

  • Oh my gosh, i want to marry you! :D

    you play so nicely!

  • I could really see myself getting into this song >.>

  • amazing! sounds great :)

nice hair for playing the cello!

  • Oh yeah, and you have cool hair. -w-

  • How old are you? O.o I'm 14, but I can't play this~

This is awesome! You have a very clear sound! ^^

  • Overall, this was great and in tune. However, I think you missed personality of the Tarantella, where it is the victim's last dance and so maybe a little swing to it. And of course, MORE DYNAMICS! But still, great job. No sloppy errors.

  • @Boomboomwoom

Thanks for the advice ^^ ! Appreciate it ; )

  • Good!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MY GOD YOU PLAY THE CELLO BEAUTIFLY!!!! (IM HORRIBLE AT SPELLING HAHAHA)

  • Overall, you played very well. However, try moving your bow closer to the bridge and ensure that all of your bow hair is touching the string. You'll get a much better and stronger tone. Also, raise your elbow when shifting into higher positions. It'll help reach those notes more accurately.

  • @Sw1mm3rX Thank you very much! My teacher also gave those advices and right now I think it works better ^^

  • I'm playing this on my cello too for my freshman high school tryouts. :D

  • @joymaker66 I can't whistle ^^

  • @hybridnysten That's funny because neither can any of the other amazing musicians I know. (I mean the ones that play more than 1 instrument)

  • wow good looks and talent what a package lol

    great performance :)

haha ive only played for 1 year and i can only do half the song :l

i gave up but it is still a beautiful song

    x hannah

  • My friend plays this, so even though I play the violin I'm familiar with it. Beautiful song, nice shifting, and kudos to the absence of squeaking!

  • @SafireTheWriter This is that particular friend.......you are crazy, missy =) but yeah...it's taking a lot of work to get it right...

  • im playing this for my solo, but i dont think ill be ready in time for the nyssma solo festival we have...how long did it take you to learn this song?

  • @murtoh15 I think about 2 weeks I don't quite know sorry :)

  • So, I have to play this song at Solo and Ensemble tomorrow in front of judge. And can't play it nearly as good as this. I plan to eat sleep live and breathe Tarentella for the next 12 hours :O

but I intend to play this song! EVEN IF ITS THE LAST THING I DO! :)

A friend of mine, a freshman actually, who has been playing for 2 years now, plays...beautifully!

He aspires to go to Juillard, and I believe he is going to make it. haha

    But beautiful playing! :)

You should upload a vid on how to play Tarantella:)

  • @mfmfab11 Hi ^^

Thanks for the comment. Just keep trying it will work! :)

  • Pretty Nervewracking eh?

  • i tried to play this piece 35 years ago after having studied cello for six years. i never mastered it but remember it vividly. thanks for the vid.

  • @latopete Maybe it's a good time to retry. Maybe you will manage to get it work :)

    Regards and thanks

  • where did you get the sheet music?

  • @airliners321 My teacher gave it to me I don't know ^^

  • Iv been playing cello 13 years on and off and just started learning this piece.. PoopInSoup, doesnt matter how long youv been playing for, people have different backgrounds and might not have learnt cello as intensly as you might have! A good musician can play a piece of music WELL no matter how long he/she been learning for and this guy can!.. and a good musician is NEVER big headed! Take that as some advice from another cellist.

Well played Hybrinysten i loved your vid! :)

  • Absolutely amazing! :) I've played cello for almost three years now but I'm not as good as you, although I still want to learn how to play this song. Any tips? By the way, I love your videos!!

  • Amazing....

  • you are so good you can play me to sleep anyday hehe

  • I was studying this piece only a couple months ago. Very difficult but SO much fun to play. You're very talented. Bravo :)

  • you're really good

everything is so nice and cleanly played

    (= keep it up

  • hello, thanks for this video

    You're a good musician! =)

I play te cello since i was 9 and I have to play this piece in my next review, and I was nervous because i did't hear this, so thanks!

(study thumb position and you will play better)

  • also, loosen and relax your right hand! the bow movement needs to come from the rist and fingers as well. perhaps try some sautille studies? goltermann's etude caprice is very good for sautille technique...

  • @iliketoplaythecello Heey! Thanks for the advice really like when people help me improve ! ^^

Yeah I did some Goltermann's pieces and I improved a bit sinds last year so ^^

    Cheers!

  • wow, your really good! ^_^ i also like you hair. :)

  • any tips on how to improve the part at 0:49? especialy the shift from 4th to thumb position

  • @mrjanx0000 Hmm first you need to do many excercices on thumb position. When you completely manage the base, you can try this piece. I think It's just that you need to practice allot and loosen your hand. Don't try to put to much tension on your thumb but just relax and try it very slowly you will see that you will manage it slowly, then you can accelerate. General tip= relax and practice slowly :)

  • @mrjanx0000 first make sure you have a steady thumb position, fingers curved, thumb over two strings, and no tension, your hand should be able to move freely. try some thumb position excersizes. then practice the shift from 4th to thumb, keeping the interval in your head and concentrating on the interval. then just build up speed from there :)

  • My friend Gretchen asked if she could you for Christmas.

  • @rinnemagic ;p

  • You so cute ^^"

  • You obviously have so much talent. Make more videos (:

  • Nice playing, very nice boy :-)

  • You should play Elgar cello concerto in e minor :)

  • I live in Russia, I do not know English, and translator I have a bad (((.

I had the mind why you mute? to this work

Do you have these notes in electronic form? all parts?

  • @care001007 Ooh, no I don't mute it is not activated the thing to mute my strings and no I don't have them they are from my teacher so,,,

  • by the way! ) What do you want to mute the string la and the results??

  • @care001007 how do you mean don't get it sorry ^^

  • i'm actually playing this for an audition, good job (:

i still can't play it as good as this :(

  • hi, do you know if this piece is copyrighted? i'm doing a spec commercial and want to use it.

  • @FAFEpictures

I have no idea honestly ^^ But I don't think so It's an old composition so,,, :)

    regards

  • Hi! Excellent game) .. How are you doing? How many years? I am 6 years old cello play ... and has already passed the tarantella..

  • I have to say that you play this piece quite well, and i too am learning this for solo ensemble. i was following the music along with your playing... maybe use dynamics a bit more? a theme of this song it seems is the echo of the melody. well played and keep playing! incidently, are you planning on playing as a profession?

and the world needs more cello players like you:) you seem quite dedicated! ive been playing almost eight years.... so i understand the joy of a well executed solo. :D

  • really nice job! i'm a cellist myself and i LOVE playing this song but i like this song better a little slower also. you have a beautiful cello and it makes a beautiful sound. nice job!

  • Ah I remember playing this for my solo for solo and ensemble contest.

  • Good work boy ! You played this wonderful instrument !

  • for the middle part, slow it down a little, and make the strings sing :D

  • Your cello is prettier than mine. (:

  • I came here after listening to this little girl playing tarantella and I just want to say its good to hear this a little slower lol!!

  • @JaeChoi94 Thank you :) I also prefer the song a little slower but that's a personal opinion :)

  • yay! great job:)

  • @laurelbaby113 the piece is actually in D minor. it also doesnt have repeating chords, it has many repeating double stops. the only chords are at the two similar cadences at the first double bar and the end of the song.

@hybridnysten this is performed very well. the only thing i would say is to keep the intensity on the lower string. it appears that you favor the A string. however, great performance! self taught or are you getting lessons?

  • @GlendaleHeroes Thank you for the information ^^ yeah I have lessons ^^ and right now I play it more like you said. :)

  • dude ur baller, u should try Bach suite 1 prelude

  • @USMCbroski

For a person playing for six years? I can play that and I've only been playing for a little over two years :[
