  • I'm only 28 and the GM&O was long gone when I was born. I have become friends with a former Trainmaster of the GM&O and wish so badly that I could have seen it with my own eyes. Check out my channel if you want to see my interviews with him.

  • It would be good to see GM&O modern locomotive these day if it havent out of service.

  • Looks like a lot of this was shot in Tamms. Thanks for sharing. I was probably around 12 years old when you shot this. My Uncle was an Agent at Tamms and I remember it fondly.

  • the gm&o was the first railroad to fully dieselize in 1949! great railroad!

  • I understand this film is from the time of the merger with the IC. You also caught an Amtrak " rainbow " train!

  • Frickin sweet! Love the TP&W box car and the other GM&O classics. Thanks!!!

  • Any ideal of the locations in Southern Illinois that the films were shot??

  • What's the song?

  • i wish the GM&O had never gone under, the IC should've stayed away

  • i grew up on the gmo here at mexico mo

  • I didnt get to get much of the old GM&O but i know i saw a few of their locomotives when the IC bought them out. I used to go on their old branch lines in Mississippi and see parked pulpwood cars and a few 40' boxcars on industry sidings.

  • Great footage of the old GM&O! Thanks for sharing!
