That was sad. It was a beautiful store they allowed to fall into disrepair... granite floors... marble walls... now it's an ugly strip mall. Cheesy at best. The fire damage could have been fixed. Don't let them fool you. It wasn't about a tradition and a "landmark" in the neighborhood... it was all about the money.

I think they had to do this because it was destroyed by fire and could not repair it or something.

There was a massive fire in it earlier, so it would have been too expensive to rebuild.

I agree. Such a shame a lovely old building like this is destoryed rather than reused. Total shame. Very sad.
