Sam's my favourite and I love this character development, although I'm really sorry for what Dean had to go through without him, because he was not only mourning him for his death, but cause he was still suffering in Hell. So, yeah, I understand Sam. I thought he would leave Dean since he reappeared near the end of 5x22, but even if it was a selfless decision because he wanted to make Dean happy, it was a cruel for Dean too.I'm sorry for the pain both had to suffer!

Wow.... Many changes in Sam. Interesting and surprising... To me, from what Jared told us, Sam seems more closed off and .. yeah more heartless, colder. Sam may have been doing what he thought was best for Dean but... really? Not telling him he's back, is that really better? It seems odd to me. Did Hell take away part of Sam's humanity or something? Sounds as if Sam has a very black and white view on things now and if last season though me anything is that it's never that simple.

@Natlandet Actually no, he's not going to be heartless. If you watched the video, Jared said that Sam is not heartless by any means.

@Natlandet I wouldn't call them heartless. Would you call Dean heartless back in Season 1? Would you call John heartless? Honestly? Sam just has a different point of view now because of everything he's experienced. I mean he went to hell with Lucifer wearing him, spent time in Hell with Lucifer, had to really feel what it was like to have real evil inside of him, controlling his every move. The Devil himself poked and prodded around in his mind, knew all of his secrets, his fears....

@Natlandet ...his strengths, his weaknesses, his emotions, everything. I mean he really had to experience true evil and that would change anybody's perspective on something like that. It's not that Sam doesn't care, it's just that his views have changed based upon his experiences. If you ask me though, I think it's just a game face. I have a feeling that Sam is putting up a huge tough guy front like this.

I hope it might be... and I agree completely being in Hell having Lucifer inside him that changes you and how you view things which was what I was trying to get at... It's a Sam that seems to have lost some of his empathy both with Dean but also with people in general and I was wonder if it was a result of wha happened. Sam's tough and I wanna say ruthless but that may not go down to well either.. ;D lol

@Natlandet It may seem that way because of how Jared was putting it, but we're not really going to know if he's lost that empathy or not until we watch the episodes. I think the problem is is that Sam sees things one way while Dean sees them another way. Sam thinks he's doing something good for Dean while Dean is still pretty broken up over the loss of Sam. I really don't feel Sam is ruthless, but he's not exactly Season 2 Sam anymore either, though I still think our emotional Sam is in there.

@Natlandet I think that Hell and experiencing real evil has hardened him, but I also think that it's going to eventually hit him and Sam is REALLY going to be a mess then, kinda like how it hit Dean. Jared said that Sam is pretty messed up right now, but I think it's going to eventually change.

@HawksEye1983 Alright we'll settle on hardened... Because telling your brother who thinks you're in hell being tortured and knowing how important he is to Dean that it's just tough and you promised you wouldn't, that you'd be happy with this girl... O_O Seems rather detached and hardened to me.

@Natlandet I don't see it like that. I see it has Sam being afraid that if Dean did find a way to spring him from Hell, Sam wouldn't know what he's coming back as or if Lucifer were still inside of him. Sam started the apocalypse and the last thing he'd want to do is be brought back on earth only to possibly destroy it or wreak havoc on it. He just wanted Dean to live a normal, happy, apple pie life. Sam is so full of self-loathing that I can understand his frame of mind in regards to Dean.

@HawksEye1983 Well I agree.. Dean shouldn't spring him out. No way of knowing what would happen and what Sam could come out as but now that Sam is out.... to just treat it so.... flippantly. Sam was broken when Dean was in hell how can he not at least understand that losing a loved one is always gonna be hard but instead Sam seems to shrug his shoulders and say 'well tough on you man, I told you not to be hung up on it so not my problem' It baffles me that kind of attitude from Sam.

@Natlandet I dunno. I don't think he's just gonna shrug his shoulders and say 'tough on you, not my problem' at all. I think what's going to get Sam is when/if Dean tells him that he searched for ways to try and bring him back, that's when Sam was going to be like "You promised you wouldn't." Kinda like how Dean was in the beginning of S4 with Sam after he came back. Sam's intentions are good for Dean, just not the right choice. I also think it's this new shell Sam has put up hasa lot to do with

I love both of them but I'm having a harder time... connecting with this new Sam I guess and that's maybe what's coming through in my comments where as I can totally relate to Dean emotionally. How broken he'd be after losing Sam.. all that.

@Natlandet lol No no! I'm not trying to fight or throw bad words! Please please don't think that. Just a little friendly debating I suppose? I don't know. I can't really come to a conclusion yet based on a couple of videos with interviews or some quotes from Comic Con. I mean truthfully, I just really have to watch it for myself and then decide, you know? I think maybe I look past this hardened shell or new armor that Sam has put on himself and try to get inside his head and come up with ideas..

@Natlandet ..as to why Sam is the way he is now, why he feels the way he does. I mean, Sam's trying to shove this whole Hell experience down and lock it away and never look at it again. Just as Jared said in another interview. Sam's pretty messed up right now. Sure Dean is definitely going to be affected emotionally and I think that'll eventually be fixed with Sam back and all, but you gotta remember. Sam's most likely affected emotionally as well from having Lucifer in him and being in Hell.

He's closed off... which easily comes across as cold and indifferent but if it's just a shell which we'll quickly agree that it could very well be I get him... but if that is the way he actually feels then a part of our Sam is lost, missing which could be as well with what happened to him regarding Hell and Lucifer and... everything.

@Natlandet Well, with Jared saying Sam's 'pretty messed up' right now? That's honestly what I keep leaning towards. I can't really see them completely and utterly changing Sam's character like that permanently. I think a lot of it has to do with Sam just trying to shove it all down and forget about it like it never existed but it's always going to be there. He's always going to remember it. I think eventually those floodgates will burst. They said around episode 9 or 10 I think when we find out.

@HawksEye1983 Yes I completely agree. Sam wanted Dean to have the normal life, for them to be safe and happy. He really really wanted to give Dean the chance of his dream and not to have to leave them again when he came back or carry the world on his shoulders anymore. I get that but it's Sam apparent reaction to Dean being upset and sad and 'chick-flicky' that doesn't... feel... good, you know?

@HawksEye1983 Also wrongly I suppose I felt as if this was Sam now... and in contrast to who Sam used to be this warm and caring person this one... feels colder and more .... *throws hands in the air* but then I get that Lucifer and Hell changes you. Jared is talking form just the 3 episodes they've taped right? So who's to say Sam won't break down and talk later in the season.

Have that normal life, be safe and happy and have what you alwasy wanted... ARGHHH!! Well I do know I guess because Sam knows that as soon as he tells Dean he's alive Dean will be split about where he should be.... Damn it... No easy answer is there.

@Natlandet I have a few theories. Possibly because Sam doesn't know if something dark is still in him, I think not only does he want Dean to live a normal, happy life, but he doesn't want to put Dean and his family at risk or in danger. He doesn't want Dean to run off from his new family either because he just wants Dean to live without having the weight of the world on his shoulders yet again with hunting and fighting evil. While it wasn't the best decision, Sam just wanted them to be safe.

Poor Jared, looks tired, must be hard working so much. Imagine working for 14 hours on set, maybe more, then getting on a plane and going to a convention where everyone wants to rip you to shreds and keep it as a souvenir, especially since just a day before a guy got stabbed in the eye with a pen over seating arrangements, and then have to go back on a plane and go to work. I hope they all know that we appreciate their sacrifices so much. Much love from the fans Jared!

It should be illegal for a man to be this sexy. I'm really excited to hear he's divulged so much information on Sam's character and at the same time I'm really worried for Sam as well. He's become all stoic and shoot first ask questions later, but I wonder if he's going to be like an emotional breakdown like Dean did in Season 4 from his experiences in Hell? Anyway, it was wonderful seeing him again! I miss the boys so much!
