Woody, I am an Apple guy and what you want is a PC running XBMC and Steam. That should handle just about everything you want. Of course, it will cost around $1000-1500k.

They say to never say never, but Apple will NEVER embrace Blu-ray. I do think there is evidence to suggest they would make a compelling gaming platform though (the evidence being iOS lol)

1. Don't work for Apple (no problem)

2. Don't disobey any of Apple's rules and be happy with what you have (no problem)

3. Read about what's in an update before downloading it (always done that, no problem)

4. Backup my songs on iTunes (already have every song downloaded off iTunes backed up in 4 different places, no problem)

a big super-system would be high in price, and gaming consoles lives aren't quiet as long as TV's lives, so the super-system would be potentially bad, since if one part of it gets outdated, you have to replace the whole thing.

Apple isn't going to go into gaming. Others can tell you why so I won't, but they will eventually deliver pretty much everything else that you want, probably integrated into some apple tv type box. Other than blu-ray. They haven't put this in any of their other products and its pretty clear that they don't subscribe to this because nothing they make is blu-ray capable. External drives don't count.

Apple wont do this because console makers make their money primarily on game sales... not the actual console. The margin on the console is minimal, which is why it is incredibly risky for apple to do that. Sure, apple probably has the tech to do it, but can they secure the deals for developers to actually make games for them? i dont think so.

Alright so I love my iPhone and I love that apple makes good phones and mp3 players... But their computers are overpriced for what you get.
