i dont like seeing the term "ex-/former blink member" when they mention tom in videos back in 2005-08. but fuck it, they're back already and thats whats important.
wrong.. the music industry keeps all the money gives barely enough to the bands.. its all a pyramid.. tom is a freemason.. he is following the pyramid
Tom delonge is the best thing that ever happened in the music industry so why don't u guys show a bit of respect n get over your egotistical points of view and look at the real picture
Fuck, I HATE these shitty populair female voices happily talking in their MTV accents... It makes me want to put on my personal mute/ignore button. Fuck me, it's SO annoying! @_@
How does Tom get the time to do everything he does?? Many years with blink-182, Box Car Racer and now both Angels & Airwaves and blink-182 at the same time. I mean, if he`s not touring or creating music he`s working with Modlife, clothing lines or occuping himself with aliens, planet x and goverment blackops like 9/11. Where does this guy takes the energy from? I admire it but I don`t understand it:-)
He can't put his guitar low to his bollox anymore on a count of it makes his back hurt , he cant do that anymore... but I so aggree with you on the rest ;D
''for smaller bands coming up, they need help, they can't just give their records away for free''
This is rubbish. Its a pretty common misperception amongest people these days. First off, radiohead did not give away 'records', they gave away their release online, digital. There is nothing stopping anyone giving all their music away. We have the internet, so it means anyone can get their hands on it. It costs nothing to download it, and nothing to upload it. Bands need to grow brains and balls.
stfu, tom has been in the music business since the 1990's in one of the biggest bands of its time (blink). I seriously doubt you know more about the music business than he does. what do you know about creating and/or releasing music? How many albums have you recorded and released? None...so stop expressing your stupid opinion and just type "tom rules!" in your comment box.
Secondly its a joke you can say,''I seriously doubt you know more about the music business than he does.''. Man it takes no genius to know the music business is crumbling. Free music is starting to take over. Anyhow, i have recorded numerous tracks, just released a free 22 track album. I got loads of gigs in response. I also have loads more music ready to be released, but its also gonna be given away for free. Either way someone can understand music business without any music experience.
if big bands start giving away their music for free, there would be this public expectancy for all the smaller bands to follow suit. what does that mean? that their art is now worthless? should authors start giving their books away for free too? painters?
it's not just about how much money you make. you giving away all your music for free says to me that you don't think it's good enough for people to actually spend money on. some upcoming bands need record sales to support themselves.
seems my first one didnt post, fuck it.pity you took what i said so personally and such a hostile reaction! Sort of childish getting abusive over someones opinion, no? And the fact is he does not know much about the music business if he does not understand free music. He seems to think upcoming bands need 'help' Rubbish. Im 'upcmoing' and dont need any help. Doing just fine with not a penny. The idea that bands need to sell records to be heard is absent minded. He has not thought it through.
look man... if tom wanted to do what he did, u mustnt say anything against him.. do i offend u for every choice u take? so dont offend tom u bastard...
Toms idea is "MEH", they can do that at myspace. Radiohead was gonna sell the physical copies no matter what, they announced it beforehand. The pay what you want was a "cool experiment" plus you wer able to get their music B4 the album came out. I payed $0 first but i loved the album so much i went back and payed $22-something.
blink is just going to become washed up and start selling themselves out.radiohead have managed to stay on top with out going on a tv ad or making t shirts they have come on top becouse of there pure talent.
I think record sales going down is a good thing, at least when it comes to these huge corporate bands. The corporations ("record labels") who sponsor these guys are in it for the money; they're not afraid to rape the music for profit and I think with sales going down some of these greedy businessmen might leave music and move onto something else. Maybe we can finally have a pop music industry with integrity?
LOL! What am I talking about? Integrity is a four-letter word in pop music.
by the way, me personally, i'm much more likely to buy an album from a small time band than i am a huge label band. i love supporting the small guys that no one has ever heard of :)
That's the point. Why can't we hear of bands through word of mouth. I want to hear from my buddy that this new band is out and I can hear some of their stuff on their website, and then buy it if I like it. The internet is all the publicity that you need. Bands don't need MTV, bands need hard work, touring, and word of mouth...and access to the album over the net. Good musicians don't need big labels.
what are you talking about? i think you may have read my paragraph incorrectly. I said you dont need a record company, when you have the Internet. You can sell it for what the album is worth, not spike the price so the record companies can get a piece. Any poor band can sell their album online. You don't need money to do that.
To be truthful, I kinda like Angels better. Radiohead's my favorite band though. But Blink's first 2 albums were pretty kickass though. But I never thought of them as a punk band, but rather a pop punk bands. Real punk is like Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, etc.
tom has gotten a lot smarter after blink...or appears to be. But no matter how smart he becomes nothing he will ever do will make up for breaking up blink 182
who is this man? cause it isnt tom delonge, anymore at least. he looks, acts and sound completly different. it makes me sad. but i guess everyone grows up sometime. but whats with the tight pants. i dont get it
Younger bands don't need help. They just need the internet. They don't need to rely on record companies. All you need is this wonderful thing right here...the internet. you can sell your album, and get it to any person. Why do you need a record company to take your money when you can do it yourself?
tom, blink's break up better be in your thoughts off the top of your head, kuz what you did killed no just millions of kids, mark, or travis, but dude it killed you.
they're creating an operating system called modlife. it's on angels and airwaves' official website. I dunno exactly what modlife is supposed to do but he said it's gonna be like radiohead's album where they let the fans pick the price they wanted to pay through the band's official site. but I dunno modlife is weird because they're making their fans pay which sucks. :/
um. what the fuck are you talking about? how am I a limewire/bit torrent(?) whore. you dont even know me dumbass. I still buy CDs of bands that Im fans of. yeah, I do download like everyone else, but only if I want to see how a band I don't know sounds like. so shut the fuck up. retard. and that comment wasn't even directed towards you, it directed towards the guy that didn't know what this video was about. so shut the fuck up.
lol - you misread my comment. I called myself a limewire/bittorent whore. I was saying to ignore my hypocritical comment.
All modlife is is like a subscription to a magazine, but in that subscription, you get videos, songs, and all sorts of other stuff from the band. Or at least, that's how I think it works.
oh my bad. I thought you called me a limewire/bittorent whore. ok. yeah Im not really that interested in modlife either. I might of if they had that with blink it would be so much cooler. but in ava, not so much. dont mean to insult you by saying that. I just think it's like being on a street team except you have to pay. all the groupies are on that site though. kind of really lame. hahaha.

Giving away music was started by NIN, and the release of the album Ghost I-IV.
