The point isn't that there are oil reserves here that can be drilled . It would still eventually run out, and only after more destruction of the irreplaceable environment. The question is why aren't we developing/using advances in solar and wind power. Oil reserves are kept because we remain dependent on oil, and therefore need reserves for when the rest runs out or economic warfare reduces foreign sources. Of course, less profits to the Big Boys for renewable energy resources of sun and wind.

I have not heard about America running out of food. So I cannot really comment on that. Where is proof that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer? I see people in my city who are classified as "poor" driving SUVs, wearing new tennis shoes, and carrying around their cell phones, yet they buy their groceries with food stamps. Why is that? Our oil problem exists because we would rather let OPEC decide how much we get instead of drilling here in the USA, thanks to democrats.

That is not why. Even if we did drill here, it would take several years before we got things set up, and a few more years before we saw tangible results. Hi, I like your views a lot. I don't know all the answers, but here's what I do know. The reason why gas prices are rising and food is becoming more scarce is because we are putting food in our gastanks due to Ethanol. Ethanol is more expensive than gasoline and by putting food in our gastanks, it is causing a shortage of food. Keep up the good work challenging people to think for themselves and not put all their faith into empty campaign promises.
Gas prices in America are NOT HIGH compared to European countries. In my country at least do we have high gas prices (2.36 $ a liter) to encourage people to use other means of transportation, like buss, bike, walk, train, subway and so on. ..and you have used to much money on war.

True. Compared to European gas prices our gas prices are low. However, you guys do not work nearly as much as we do. 50+ hour weeks are the norm here. We only get 2 weeks of vacation a year, more if you have been on the same job for over 5 years. From what i've read and actually experenced the majority of you get vacation quite often so you don't have to travel to work as frequently as we do.

I see shows about donations to give to other countries, but I think that it is not the best thing to do at the moment because America is already in so much debt at the time. I think until we can make congress, and those who make law, responsible for their mistakes- we will be battling this. The Bail-out thing could have been avoided and was brought up by both Dems and Rep's years ago.

we need to give healthcare to all of our people. gas prices are high because we are fighting with the people that have the oil. we should drill offshore for now while finding new energy sources and putting hybrids on car lots. Barack Obama will do his best. right now he is surrounding himself with some of the most intellegent people in their respected fields. it will be a slow process, but i believe we will rise up to be the most prosperous nation again.

The point isn't that there are oil reserves here that can be drilled . It would still eventually run out, and only after more destruction of the irreplaceable environment. The question is why aren't we developing/using advances in solar and wind power. Oil reserves are kept because we remain dependent on oil, and therefore need reserves for when the rest runs out or economic warfare reduces foreign sources. Of course, less profits to the Big Boys for renewable energy resources of sun and wind.

I have not heard about America running out of food. So I cannot really comment on that. Where is proof that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer? I see people in my city who are classified as "poor" driving SUVs, wearing new tennis shoes, and carrying around their cell phones, yet they buy their groceries with food stamps. Why is that? Our oil problem exists because we would rather let OPEC decide how much we get instead of drilling here in the USA, thanks to democrats.

That is not why. Even if we did drill here, it would take several years before we got things set up, and a few more years before we saw tangible results. Our energy policy is entirely dysfunctional at this point in time. We need to plan for the future, and not just the "ten years from now" future, but the indefinite future.

Hi, I like your views a lot. I don't know all the answers, but here's what I do know. The reason why gas prices are rising and food is becoming more scarce is because we are putting food in our gastanks due to Ethanol. Ethanol is more expensive than gasoline and by putting food in our gastanks, it is causing a shortage of food. Keep up the good work challenging people to think for themselves and not put all their faith into empty campaign promises.

Gas prices in America are NOT HIGH compared to European countries. In my country at least do we have high gas prices (2.36 $ a liter) to encourage people to use other means of transportation, like buss, bike, walk, train, subway and so on. ..and you have used to much money on war.

True. Compared to European gas prices our gas prices are low. However, you guys do not work nearly as much as we do. 50+ hour weeks are the norm here. We only get 2 weeks of vacation a year, more if you have been on the same job for over 5 years. From what i've read and actually experenced the majority of you get vacation quite often so you don't have to travel to work as frequently as we do.

oil is on the rise because world oil prices are linked to the US dollar, going back to treaties Kissinger had OPEC countries sign (all but iraq and iran signed). Now since the US dollar has had runaway inflation this has lead to the rise in prices as the value of oil has remained constant to the value of gold

A good example is the Netherlands where I lived for 39 years; they pay more than double what you guys pay, yet unemployement is one of the lowest in the world with 2,9%, so quit whining by blaming everyting on gas.

oh yes your right about the size vehicles we have I hate that. The other day I had a hummer behind me and i get so mad when I see those lol. Yes europeans have small cars but one thing with that when you have a big family its kinda hard to pile them all into a smart car? but your right about alot of your points. Yes drive thrus everywhere...when I go to the stores I park in the back so I can walk in and get exercise. Yes your right about alot of this. Where you from? Have a good day.

C'mon hey, when I talk about SMALL cars I don't talk about SMART cars of course hehe And you're telling me that the majority had/have this large car because they have a big family? You know that is not true. Even when you have a large family, you still don't need a 3 or 4 liter engine.

no I'm not saying everyone has a large family but I was using the smart car as a example! I have a smaller size suv only cuz we have 5 in our family and a smaller car isnt practical but yes I know what you mean. Where are you from if you would answer that? I love being a american but we do have flaws just like every other country about one thing or another.

Listen, I'm not here to talk negative about America, all I said is all related to prices, in this case the price of gas. Basically what I'm saying is; it's fair to complain, but don't complain if you all haven't made serious attempts to bring down the gas spilling.

America has oil. We just can't get it because digging it hurts the environment. I truly believe in helping others, but before you go help your neighbor, look after your family first. Forget the environment and start digging I say. And if we are so advanced, lets find another solution to the oil crisis. Maybe then we will stay out of the middle east. Keep it up yurushii.

It all depends on what your think is best for the world. If you think it's more important for you to have a car when you could use public transport or a bike, if you think a computer is more important than improving health care in countries in need, then go ahead. But you do all sound like you're from a poor family in Birma after the cyclone hit...sigh
