I had fantastic chicken (the best ever) on a pavement in Jalandhar, although I didn't eat in Phagwara (but I'll try to get to Neeta one day on your recommendation).
well, to be honest, i dont know many people in phg coz i used to come here only for summer vacations.. so no friends there but me and my brother used to enjoy the atmosphere of a still developing town .. so used to roam a lot ...especially used to watch the milling work going in the shops near the final destination of the rickshaw..may be those shops were the inspiration for me to pursue engineering, thanks phg.and yes the unforgettable smell of paathi and gotta burning in geethi is still fresh
im from phagwara as well. where that rickshaw was stop from there my house was just five minute walk form there i belong to basra family in jatt di gali.very nice video.thankz for putting on youtube.
plahi gate...dhollan wala mandir...used to be a greedy doctor's shop on right side, opposite the pir baba's place... then a ration depot then just where it stopped, used to be grocery shop...madan ... and if i am not wrong some milling shops were there near by... jheeri for pop corns ... etc .. i remember it all ... thanks for freshening up my childhood memories.. my maternal grandparents are in phg so have a lot of fond memories... reply if anyone is from the same area... khalwara gate phagwara
Thank you for those colourful memories. Things change and it all gets lost. We went there after taking my father-in-law's ashes back home. I will show your comments to my wife and her family. Thank you.
well said, time flies.. there were the days when i used to run in these lanes pursuing the kulfi wala.. forgot that brand though.. and today after almost twenty years i dug up your clip that virtually made me cry.. my nana nani ji are no more but i remember the summer vaccations that i used to spend there... but since then alot has changed .. a marked improvement in the living standard and to some extent education aswell.. i would like to know more about yourself.. if you wish. your mail?

it has been 35 long years ago i left phagwara now i m in Germany. i m from Mehli Gate Ghai street( Banniyan ke mandir wali gali.) that time everybody called me Bata bcz my dad was the manager of Bata shoe store at Bansan wala bazar.
I guess it is the Plahi Gate off Hoshiarpur Road. I could feel the streets on me. You've done a good job to capture the essense of Phagwara's 'gully-mohalla'

Magical place - must go back one day, before progress sweeps everything away.

Yes, it's the Plahi Gate, but I don't what the 'mohalla' is - I'll have to research it. Thank you.
