You are so right. Shemp seems to get slandered by many in favor of Curly, which isn't fair. Curly was a genius, true, but he was also one of a kind. Shemp knew he could never be Curly, so to his considerable credit, he never tried to be. And his physical and verbal comedic timing were unbeatable. His work in Goof on the Roof where he continually lands head first in the water bucket or flips over the bottom half of the door just leaves me in stitches. He's a genius too!
Another great battle between Shemp and an inanimate object (the card table) in this one. Shemp's duel with Icabod Slipp (my favorite Stoogian villian) was better than Ali-Frazier.
