  • This kind of censorship is certifiably no good for children, people who think they're being good parents by doing this are sadly mistaken; If they fail to reverse such actions they are doing disservice to the world and should be approached about their wrong-doings; The internet is a beautiful source of information that's either mandated or common in most of the world, it is the single most important development since the dawn of communication.

  • What is this bullshit about "safety"?! This is the "safety" that North Korea and China have in their internet. It's CENSORSHIP. Sexual pictures aren't dangerous, so this is NOT about safety, it's about parents having control issues, and them wanting to take away access to free pornography! I bet the kid feels so "SAFE" now that he is unable to look up porn. If anything, he's going to hate his parents and look up porn at other people's houses, where who knows what is going to happen. Good job.

  • I like the old google more very worried ..too many pictures ..:S

  • I wish people would take safe search a little more seriously, check out what i did with my safe search and you can do it too - search-theweb.ca

  • one major flaw if you delete history and cookies wich im sure they will its useless

  • @cdude100 Then your parents will notice the missing colored balls in the search results and ground you for life, and you will grow up a twisted, messed up person.

  • @soundspark F.Y.I im 18 you fucking prick quit making a god damn fool of yourself and don't underestament your self everyone watches porn and if they don't they are out banging chicks admit it

  • BUT I WANNA WATCH PORN

  • @ithinkmynameisralf

Why do you want to watch porn,it will ruin your brain and you may die.

  • @Alonso9825 i cant tell if you're serious or joking

  • Comment removed

  • @ithinkmynameisralf

My parents told me that it will ruin your brain and your computer will stop working, this is not a joke,it is real,I'm christian and I go to church on sundays.

  • @Alonso9825 watch "teens against porn" on theamazingatheist's channel. it'll blow your mind xD

  • @Alonso9825 Hey I listen to marylin manson and other types of rock. I'm 11 and i hate the way christians think. I don't hate christians, don't get that confused but my friends are open minded, so let shove that iron man up your ass

  • @Alonso9825 ... Can you prove to me, definitively, that porn will ruin your brain and cause your computer to stop working in and of itself? No? I thought so.

While porn is often used to carry computer viruses or entice people into downloading a virus, porn itself is mere data on a computer screen. Smutty data, but just data. The data in the porn itself will not harm the computer, but any viruses possibly attached can.

  • @Alonso9825 Oh you're joking :D hahaha :) You're not fooling anyone :)

  • @Alonso9825 Don't forget blindness, hairy palms, insanity... essentially, just keep naming maladies :)

  • Just delete all cookies. The safe search will be unlocked.

  • This is censorship!

  • лол какие америкосы нубы, у нас такое даже не пытаются создать...

на информатике во всех школах с интернетом самые просматриваемые сайты...

  • What is this "safe" bullshit about? They're not in DANGER- the word "safe" is a bullshit term used here to avoid using the correct term- "censorship".

  • @TheLonelyImmortal I agree - IF the child happens to be of the age where porn would be a healthy outlet for sexual frustration (that is, in their teens). Do we want younger kids seeing images of people doing the nasty? Probably not. It's not that the porn is inherently dangerous, it's just not very child appropriate. Kinda like you wouldn't want to watch teletubbies because it's not age appropriate.

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin But I have the RIGHT(/ability) to watch Teletubbies. "Safe" search takes away their right to look at porn. I really don't like the word "appropriate" because it's a word used to take good things away from people with less power, such as children. Like "That show has guns in it, so it's not 'appropriate' for you", or "Those words aren't appropriate, so you don't have the right to say them". I fucking hated the harmless things some of my teachers would prohibit me from doing.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal Yes, but you are also not five or six years old. Do you really honestly believe allowing a young, keyword being YOUNG, child should be watching adult content? And isn't all of this really up to the parent's jurisdiction? Children don't HAVE a right to look at Porn, because it is NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN. I honestly am not sure if you're just being young and stupidly rebellious, or if you REALLY BELIEVE porn is alright for children to look at. I do NOT mean teens. I mean kids.

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin What do you think is going to happen? I'm quite curious.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal We are already allowing our children, as a culture, to grow up too fast, and DON'T say we aren't - look at girl's clothing, even for preteen girls. It's become far sluttier than anything a young girl should EVER be wearing. There's not any need to add to that accelerated growth by exposing children to pornography. However, that is every parent's choice, and if they choose to prevent their child from seeing it I see no problem with that.

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin Oh yes I agree that girl's clothing has gotten further sexualized. The adult look will likely increase teen pregnancies, and child abductions for the purpose of rape. Pornography didn't do that. Thoughtless or possibly pedophilic fashion designers did that, and slowly enough that people call someone a prude for pointing it out! Porn is not to be feared: studies indicate that where porn is accessible and legal, societal sexual violence is lower than where it is illegal.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal ... did you even read my continuations of my post? *raises eyebrow*

And I agree, porn can be a good thing. But it is still NOT FOR CHILDREN. Teens, fine, adults, fine. But there is no reason for a child to have access to pornographic content. Again, when pedophiles want kids to think it is okay to have sex at that young age, they show them porn. This is called grooming. And if we won't let molesters do it, why allow it otherwise?

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin You keep bringing up child molesters, yet they're not relevant to children accessing porn ON THEIR OWN. If a kid needed to ask his uncle for a password to look up porn, THEN pedophilia is actually an issue because of the adult involvement, but that's not your argument- it's my argument! And about children seeing porn and then wanting to do it? I don't think porn encourages sex; it encourages what kids are already familiar with- masturbation.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal Yes, but children should not be ABLE to access porn "on their own" or otherwise. Young children. 5-10 years old. Do you know what you sound like? A child molester.

You're seriously just not understanding anything I say. You're misrepresenting and twisting it, and I cannot have an intellectual debate with such an individual. It's making me angry and I don't need that anger. I dunno what your problem is, but if you choose to reply ONE MORE TIME then I WILL be blocking you.

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin I do not clearly understand why you are even bringing up children 5-10 years old. The only reason a child age 5-10 would end up on a pornographic site would be by mistake. If you have an issue with children who have reached puberty and are wishing to search porn on the internet, that is an completely different discussion.

Children ages 13-18 who become interested in pornography will find ways around any form of child filter, because they know how too.

  • @dudyman0 That's the point I'm trying to explain to TheLonelyImmortal - I do NOT disapprove of teens finding and using porn, in fact I would encourage them to do so rather than wind up getting pregnant/getting some girl pregnant. I am bringing up children 5-10 years old and preteens because TheLonelyImmortal clearly isn't understanding the distinction between children viewing porn and teens viewing porn. Children should not have access to porn. That is the difference. Does that explain it?

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin You've repeated the same thing for several comments now, yet never justified your position. You've mentioned pedophilia when no adults are involved, and you've tried to call me one, but not once have you said what happens to a 5-10 year old who in some crazy unrealistic scenario KNOWS HOW TO and decides to look at porn (WITHOUT ADULT INVOLVEMENT). How about trying to justify your position that internet censorship is good pertaining to young children?

  • @TheLonelyImmortal Wait, ME? Repeat the same thing over and over without justifying it? Funny, because you're doing the exact same thing. And you're accusing ME of this?

There is no reason an adult should allow a young child. YOUNG CHILD. To access porn. What possible reason can you give me for allowing someone of a young age to access porn? We are ONCE AGAIN not speaking of teenagers here, but CHILDREN.

Perhaps I wouldn't have to repeat myself if you had understood my position to begin with.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal So what, then, is your issue with allowing parents to have the choice to block their children from content they, NOT YOU, feel is inappropriate for that child? Yet again, we are NOT talking about young adults or even teenagers, we are talking CHILDREN and PRETEENS, kids who haven't even hit puberty yet. You know, when child molesters show kids porn, it's called grooming. So are you suggesting we allow this when we won't allow molesters to do it? Or do you think that is OK?

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin Pornography must be kept a personal matter, and thus no one should encourage it, OR censor it.

Before I went through puberty, my parents had the Playboy Channel, and I secretly watched it and masturbated to it. It did not "warp" me, as the fear-mongers say: I have a very healthy view of sex and a strong respect for women. Kids masturbate long before they hit puberty: I remember doing it when I was attending preschool. Porn just makes what would already be done, easier.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal I agree that masturbation is healthy for a preteen or teenage child. And of course kids do it; even Freud knew that. But that does not mean pornographic content should be made a child thing. Apparently you are not understanding the difference between "preteen" and "child".

You are making zero sane, logical sense. If you have nothing more useful to add, please leave me alone or I'll be the adult and ignore you. :)

  • @TheLonelyImmortal Furthermore, if parents should have the right to allow their kids to have access if they wish, why shouldn't other parents have the right to DISALLOW access? You really aren't making much sense, and it's quite frankly making me very frustrated. So if you could please clarify yourself or kindly STFU that would be greatly appreciated. I respect your opinion, but I can't discuss anything with you if you won't respect mine.

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin "Allowing" is done passively or unknowingly here, so it's a silly discussion. But DISallowing porn crosses the line between the child's sexuality and the parent's sexuality. That line must never be crossed. One way to cross that line is to have sex with your kids. Another way is to disallow masturbation. Forbidding porn crosses the line by attempting to disallow masturbation. In a previous comment you ask if showing porn to kids is okay. That would cross the sexuality line.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal Seriously? You're STILL going on about this, using a silly argument that NOBODY except yourself is taking seriously? There is no line; children do not have that line. They are under the parents' rules, in the parents' household. They are not adults and therefore do not have adult jurisdiction. There is no reason that our children should be exposed to sexual content at a young age. if you want to do so with your kids, okay, but lay off of other people's kids.

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin What is this "jurisdiction" talk? Boy I hope you don't become a parent. "Jurisdiction" is a LEGAL term and you've used it before. I would truly feel sorry for anyone under your "jurisdiction". And I can't believe you said that there is no line between a child's sexuality and his/her parents' sexualities. THAT'S pedophilic. It's sexually abusive. I don't know how old you are, but in modern times, children are not property.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal You know, "insanity" is also a legal term. I'm about ready to consider you a good candidate for description by that term. I have never said there is no line between a child and parent's sexualities, you are unfairly putting words into my mouth. I never said children were property. But when they are in the house of a parent, shouldn't they be expected to follow that parent's rules until age 18? or do you believe allowing children to run around with no rules is a good thing?

  • @TheLonelyImmortal You know, the more I read of your comments the less sense you make. What exactly is your point here? You say children, little children, should have access to porn or else "their rights are restricted", but why? WHY do you believe children need access to pornographic material? I understand that you believe very strongly in your position, but I can't debate with you if I don't understand what that position is. You are giving no evidence. You're not even giving context.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal Furthermore, there is no damage in keeping children from seeing something. Calling me a bad parent for not showing my child something is like saying I'm a doctor because I took an anatomy class. It's complete BS.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal Also, WHY? WHY are you still going on about this? You're completely ranting at ME for no reason, what did I ever do to you besides state my opinion? I believe that kids don't need to see porn until they can better understand the concept of human sexuality as it applies to them (I.E., when they start HAVING sexual feelings and urges, NOT just playing with their genitals as some young children do as part of development). What is hard to understand and respect about my opinion?

  • @TheLonelyImmortal I honestly don't know WHAT your problem is. All I know is that to me you sound inappropriate. I respect that your opinion differs, but you are confusing me. What exactly are you rambling about? I don't get it. Are you trolling? Are you a NAMBLA member? Are you some emo kid whose hyper-christian parents believe masturbation is a sin, so you're rebelling by being "sexually liberated"? Explain, you're like a study in madness so severe that the Joker couldn't BEGIN to approach it.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal ... You know what, I really just think you're a Pedo now. I wanted to have a nice discussion about this subject with you, but now you can just go fuck yourself. Probably while allowing your son or daughter to watch.

Please do NOT respond to me again, or I'll be reporting you as a suspected child molester to Youtube's services.

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin You're a pedo and he's a pedo too! STOP TALKING!

  • @rinkavideos64 Congrats. You responded to an argument that had nothing to do with you and has been dead for months now. Please find a new hobby. Your current one of reading month-old Youtube messages kinda creepy.

Also, I'm 19, thanks. I was a kid not long ago myself.

  • @dayne120 LOL "meet up", oh wow. You're hilarious.

This is about censorship and hypocrisy just because of people being under 18, not about "meeting up".

  • @Eugenitor And they'll switch back to proprietary rubbish such as internet explorer and once again even children will be part of the Microsoft monopoly.

  • LOL, all you need to do is delete your cookies to bypass this. What a waste of time

  • new google search: how to bypass google safesearch.

    easy!

  • the power of balls!

  • Kids watch TV. Bing has ads on TV. Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network airs those ads. Kids watch Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. They will go to Bing.

  • Why GOOGLE WHY!!!! JUST GIVE ME 2.x!!! to hero!!

  • use another programs to censor . . .there's a lot out there

    >>>

  • By age, YouTube, Google, and Facebook still dominated the top three spots. Among 13 to 18 year-olds, the four and five spots went to "sex" and "MySpace," while kids 8 to 12 searched for "sex" and "Club Penguin." Kids seven and under, meanwhile, looked up "porn" and "Club Penguin

  • @Mossgate97 Not so fer meh Club Penguin but more of the Gaia Online. Club Penguin is my friends fav pet. So.. and yes he is gay. And are you sure about all your benefits?

  • "You'll see these colored balls on the search page, even from across the room. If you don't see the balls, verify Safe Search to see if its looked"

    LOL XD)

  • "if you don't see the balls from across the room, there is a problem" LMFAO =D

  • @waverunner6 If you can't see your balls and you aren't a female or sex-changed male, verify to make sure your balls are locked. XD

  • SAY NO TO BIG BROTHER RATE 1 STAR

  • so when the parents are away the kid could log off his account and search for porn then delete his history box?

Kids arnt that stupid to not kno of how to log off

  • @lolaulity Kids use other browsers for a reason. It's called Firefox. Use it. XD

  • you can just log out, which makes this pointless

  • Screw this, and tell me how to keep the safe search unlocked. It keeps defaulting to safe all the time, even when settings are saved.

  • If somebody has no children and both are 51 years each- together 102 they don't need safe search! They only have a female-cat!

  • @13desdemona Are you an old lady? If so, you are an awesome old lady for saying this. :) If not, you are awesome to old ladies everywhere.

  • that's stupid, they just log out and log in with another account

  • lol

  • True! Just log out kids ;-)

  • This is a really good feature!

    5/5 GO GOOGLE!

PS, Just got invited to google wave! :D

  • lol the parents are just watching the kid. i reckon that's a little invasive if u ask me, but no one does ask me. ever.

  • @rdowavic Just watch your kid and you don't need this safesearch bull. I say get off your ass and raise your kids, don't expect Google to raise them for you.

  • fucking stupid

  • Who searches porn on google -.-

It's not like there's a dozen other search engines.

  • what if they sign out?

  • Then they can search freely.

  • No, I actually tried it, the "balls" were still there. LOL :D

  • @vincentws03

thats what i thought. this lock is a joke.

  • so da wer will mit mir schreiben hab auch bilder von mir

  • I think what people are forgetting is that there are still some children left in America who have no interest whatsoever in looking at depressing images of adults being exploited for money.

Safe Search is for -those- children. The healthy children, who have no interest in logging out.

  • @ReliableInsider Just off the top of my head; I think you are a Christian.

  • That -does- sound like kind of an off-the-top-of-one's-head way of thinking.

    Which is legal.

    And constitutionally protected.

  • Oh, it's not protected in the UK, though. Yikes.

  • @Mogliz0rz What's wrong with that?

  • why would you want use safe search? if you have it ON you cant see secky pr0ns and if you cant see pr0ns then why are you on the internets in 1st place?..

  • @abduction03 Google safesearch also blocks things that are perfectly legitimate resources and aren't Pr0n, either, though...

  • Surely you could just clear the cookies

  • what happen if you log out?

  • Absolutely right about Parental Supervision.

While a kid with enough computer smarts could easily get around those blocks, it'd be somewhat easy to tell that they did it after the fact thanks to passwords and whatnot.

But even Safe Search won't stop linking between sites. Which is often where the dangerous or questionable content is versus the actual search results.

  • @travisuped You want web safety? Use Firefox and the WOT add-on, it shows what sites are safe and DOESN'T restrict web browsing unless you choose not to go somewhere. Safer and much less restrictive than SafeSearch.

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin that add-on is also on chrome

  • @omegalen Omegalen's right. So if anyone has Chrome and wants this addon I recommend it.

  • Great last sentence about filters not replacing adult supervision. What about writing captions this video, in a style adapted to the "translate" feature for captions, i.e. bearing in mind that this feature uses Google language tools? E.g. "translate" might have trouble with idiomatic phrases like "let's face it", "no matter" etc., so these would have to be reworded in the original captions.

  • Use Bing, OVGuide or any other search engine?

  • All the kid has to do is run a portable browser or delete the cookies to get around this. At least it makes the SafeSearch setting more visible.

  • cool thet took porn out so you get to look at BALLS!

  • Is there a way to unlock it?? If so, this is pretty pointless.

  • Uhm, here's a quick way around it... delete your cookies. That's the only way they could enforce this (with cookies) and thus is EASILY circumvented, even by a kid. That's why nothing beats parental supervision, but hey -- anything that helps, I guess.

  • PS: Trust me, I tried this and it worked - easy to get around.

  • Yea, but that's why they added the balls. Though all of this is basically pointless.. What if the parents were out of the room? Then they wont be there to see the balls.

  • "they wont be there to see the balls"

  • I guess it wasn't completely obvious when I posted that, but yes, that was the joke.

  • @BlueKewne Maybe Google just wants your kids to see only their balls... >.>
