I feel myself dying in one of the towers, and all the desperation, feeling, visions, and final relief, as impossible as it seems, when I listen. I can't even imagine how it felt, and yet I feel it. That is the power of music. That is the power of Bruce's gift.
@bottleimp007 you better jump bitch, and pray you don't mmess up the newscasters suit. You WILL splat. Listen to the documentary and listen in the background. All that slamming you hear is bodies hitting terra firmma. It's sickening. Most people don't even know what all that slamming is. It's us. It's the USA. Would you jump, or would you burn?
After this song came out I always had a chill and a tear thinking of the firefighters in the Twin Towers. I was shocked that Bruce lent it to Obama's campaign cause it didn't seem to fit what the song represented. It is truly sad to read the comments here. This song was a response to the 9-11 tower collapse, about a firefighters climb up and realization he wouldn't be going back down. This song always brings me to tears, yet there are people jumping and clapping to it. Jumping and clapping to 3500 people dying. Fuck them. Fuck you all. You are so sel absorbed you don't even get it. FUCK YOU. I hope you die a fiery death or a large "splosh" like the rest of them did for dancing on their grave.
@broncobra I don't think the people who are jumping and clapping to the music are doing it because of the suffering and death, but because of the heroism and hope, the unity and brotherhood. Bruce himself surely understood - or else he would have stopped playing and chastised them like you. Think positive!
@bottleimp007 I wish I could think positive, but I'd bet 95% or better of people that hear this song have no clue what it is about. I'd even say 97% I'm being realistic. Most people think it's a nice holiday song. seriously, read the comments. Like a Christmas song or something. When you explain it to them, they are stunned. Dumbfounded. No clue. People will jump and clap to anything if they think it will get them on tv. People don't think for themselves. They are morons. Sorry.
@broncobra my Mom wants to put flowers on my dads grave on Memorial day. I told her that was only for soldiesrs. it's a solomn Soldiers day. She's a total dumbshit and doesn't understand. He never served, yet this dumb bitch doesn't even get the fucking meaning of Memorial Day. I try to explain, but she is fucking retarded or something. Same with this song - Mary in the garden is an Angel to them. Then you tell them that Satan was an Angel out cast, and they get fiesty. Dumb fuckers. Sorry.
@broncobra What planet are you from? Don't you think that Bruce's fans listen to the words. The whole album is a tribute to 9-11. What is the deal with all the exact percentages? Do you have some specialinsight into Bruce's crowd? You obviously have great intellect and insight. Why don't you take it elsewhere. You need to read the Wikipedia article on this album. It might give you some needed perspective. This album won a Grammy for its message. This was the title song.
@john9944 I am a Bruce fan. Sorry to say, most people don't have a clue and don't care.I realize it's a 9-11 tribute. 97% of people (general population) don't. that's a rough estimate.People are stupider, fatter and more ignorant than you give them credit for. If we were smarter, we wouldn't listen to Bruce, We wouold be republicans. Bruce loves the obama cock. as a few dip shits here also. go on - suck it. Just don't take my tax dollars - fuktards. GET IT?
Wolfett hi, just look at the Dutch pages, all about complaining people with crap arguments thinking shit of anything happening around the Globe, frustrated boys and girls, totally agree, enjoy the music and think of the message behind it not to mention why it was written, look at the spirit on stage, wow, great performance.
Cadjack, anyone who's given any thought to our national status in the last nine years had to see Obama as a messenger of hope and change. We didn't have one and desperately needed the other. That Bruce campaigned for Obama tells me he has his priorities straightened out. I didn't lose respect for Springsteen, it doubled.
I've been a Bruce fan since a little kid of the 70's. I think this is one of his greatest songs since 1990. It's a song for everyone. I don't like that he politicized it for Obama's campaign. I lost respect for him then. I still respect him for the songwriter and musican he is. Eventually every artist takes a stand; in his case, he didn't need to. Timeless song.
Why the fuck are we arguing about politics? Enjoy the music. Its powerful. And tells about meaningful things unlike the majority of what we here today. This song is all about 9/11 and the fireman who went in and all of that. I dont see why we argue about trivial shit. Its a universal message.
@wolfett The Boss is one of the greatest musicians to have ever existed. In my opinion, this song is a testament to the American spirit and the strength we have as a nation.
He has so much more depth and maturity as an artist today then when he started out with that bohemian hippie biker persona but he still rocks as hard.
The lyrics are Luciferian. Seriously. The "We Are One" title is part of the move of the New Age. The New age Movement has Luciferian roots. Check out the lyrics. Do a study on the New Age Movement and Luciferianism, Secret Societies and the such.

From the foldings of its robe, it brought two children; wretched, abject, frightful, hideous, miserable. They knelt down at its feet, and clung upon the outside of its garment."Oh, Man, look here! Look, look, down here!" exclaimed the Ghost. They were a boy and a girl. Yellow, meagre, ragged, scowling, wolfish; but prostrate, too, in their humility.
Where graceful youth should have filled their features out, and touched them with its freshest tints, a stale and shrivelled hand, like that of age, had pinched, and twisted them, and pulled them into shreds. Where angels might have sat enthroned, devils lurked, and glared out menacing. No change, no degradation, no perversion of humanity, in any grade, through all the mysteries of wonderful creation, has monsters half so horrible and dread.
Scrooge started back, appalled. Having them shown to him in this way, he tried to say they were fine children, but the words choked themselves, rather than be parties to a lie of such enormous magnitude.Spirit, are they yours?" Scrooge could say no more."They are Man's," said the Spirit, looking down upon them. "And they cling to me, appealing from their fathers. This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want.
Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased. Deny it!" cried the Spirit, stretching out its hand towards the city. "Slander those who tell it ye. Admit it for your factious purposes, and make it worse. And abide the end." "Have they no refuge or resource?" cried Scrooge. "Are there no prisons?" said the Spirit, turning on him for the last time with his own words. Are there no workhouses?
@rugbymom75 I whole-heartedly agree with you! Millions suffering through poor healthcare, malnutrition etc. and they bleat on as if they care! If they cared, they would give up at least a tenth (combined would be more than enough) of their wealth to solve these problems... And don't get me started on the wankers... sorry - mean bankers!
@rugbymom75 First, this song is not about Africa. Second, Africa is a continent, not a country. Third, you don't think those who have the means to raise awareness about a country facing genocide, AIDS, lack of clean water, and various other terrible things should do so?
Well in parts of AMERICA there are no doctors or dentists either such as parts of West Virginia and along the Applacian trail. They wait up to 3 months for a cavaran of doctors and dentists to come through and then they are seen only by lottery. They can wait uptill 10 hours to be seen or not at all. Millions of children go to bed hungry in this country.
i trust you, in Italy we have the same problem...but i believe in social role of the music...many singers have sung problem of their own contry...Africa has other problems, now it is time of Africa
Never said who I voted for. I can't stand when rock stars and celebs think they are better than the rest of us and that they need to tell us who to vote for, what to wear, what to think. There are Americans, in this country who have to wait months to see a doctor or a dentist. Kids in schools, who can't learn because of the pain of rotting teeth. Why should I send my money to Africa when there are so many needy people right here? Just because Bruce and Bono say so?
You just don't want celebrities to use their first amendment rights like other people can.
27,000 kids a day die from preventable causes in the developing world. You can look it up. That is nearly 10 million a year, which is more than the population of the cities of New York and Boston combined. Over 1 million diea annually from dissintary. Care because you are human and because they are children. Don't care, and you are a sorry excuse for a human being.
I have been a Springsteen fan since 8 track. Haven't missed a concert since 1978. Think I know him pretty well. My sister saw him at the Stone Poney when he was a nobody. He just like the rest of them. All ego.
If Bruce weren't a singer, he would be a preacher. He has the talent to wip people into a frenzy. He lost me when he made his political views known. I don't a rock star to tell me how I should vote. I find that to be very arrogant. He portrays himself as "everyman" but he is just some rich, spoiled rock star like all the rest. I am disappointed.
Why shouldn't he be allowed to express his views and use his popularity to make people vote the way he thinks is the best? Because he's an artist? That's gotta be one of the most stupid claims I've come across in a while...
springsteen's lyrics are liberal at least, and you can maybe even call some of them socialist. so i don't see how you can like him but not his poltical views, since they go hand in hand.
Those that are fortunate enough to be wealthy, should stop being so greedy and stingy and feel good about spreading their wealth around. They should not mind helping a brother out. Wealth redistribution will make them feel patriotic.
wealth redistribution is not the answer. from a religious and/or moral perspective, its true that there should be a sense of charity within those who have much. but it is their choice whether or not to give to charities. most rich people have made their money by working hard or being extremely talented. we should not take away what they have earned. why should everyone be equally poor? socialism at its finest right there...
Its about the first firefighter into the tower, He climbs up, Cant see ahead, towing a line from His other firefighter, He dies, and climbs into Heaven
un mexicano que llora con esta cancion felicita a los estadounidenses por votar por obama. yo que ya no creia en ustedes desgraciados... y me han hecho ver que me equivoque. gracias, de verdad gracias.
Absolutely,Without A Doubt,No Dispute,Unquestionably,Undeniably,THE GREATEST SONGWRITER THE MUSIC BUSINESS HAS EVER,EVER PRODUCED.A once in a lifetime talent.Oh,as the OLD saying goes never argue religion and politics.Complete waste of time.BRUCE-AN INCREDIBLE TALENT.Thankyou New Jersey.
Because he suppports the middle class and those americans who he writes his songs about, i.e. The Americans who need a break and will get a little deserved help from Barack. Yeah I hate him too.
911 was a terrible day. We need an independent investigation into 911. There were many reporters saying there were explosions in and around the buildings. Also You Tube WTC 7 Collapse and it looks like a controlled demolition! What an awful day.

"The narrator of the song "The Rising" is a fireman who climbs up one of the trade towers on 9/11 and does not survive. The title has more than one meaning -- him relentlessly rising up the stairway, bound by duty and honor, and also the meaning that is there throughout the CD; that of the dead rising up and coming back to us."
this song came out a little after, right after 9/11 he called a whole bunch of wives and survivors and got their stories, and from those stories he made the entire album
My husband, who was also my childhood sweetheart, was killed in the Vietnam war in 1969. One of his fellow soldier buddies told me they were sitting in their tent talking about going home when the grenade hit. Even though my husband's head was blown off, one of his beautiful baby blue eyes was still intact. He was drafted and died for this country. I raised two children without taking any kind of "handout". Until you walk in my shoes, you will never understand what I went through so shut up.
First of all you were the one that said you were a victim not me! As for your loss I'm sorry to hear that and my prayers are with you and your family. My family has lost someone also. So there is no need for you to tell anyone to shut up.
Maniac, what you on about you bellend? I said I'm a Scot..first fuckin country ever colonised by the "English" Ok? Got that? 2nd , I couldn't give a fuck about the monarchy..they're parasites and a throw back to the dark ages not to mention the most famous dysfunctional family on the planet. Sure , the UK's done a lot of bad things in History..i can't change that.. what I'm talking about is the here and now. Try looking at some foreign news to see how the world views America just now..
Gemo7..what's up Scot..i have a little scott in me too..maniac's on drugs.... but what are talking about exactly when you say how the world views us?? we are fucking most humane super power who has ever ruled the earth...think about it we dont colonize abybody...we bend over backwards to help people....who would you rather be the super power now??? China ? Russia?? come on man.........

This girl is Want.
intruder2300 3 years ago

And don't get me started on the wankers... sorry - mean bankers!
adamc1407 1 year ago
@rugbymom75 First, this song is not about Africa. Second, Africa is a continent, not a country. Third, you don't think those who have the means to raise awareness about a country facing genocide, AIDS, lack of clean water, and various other terrible things should do so?
RandomTuber100 1 year ago
@rugbymom75 the fuck? this is a song of 9/11
likeaglove123 10 months ago
Well in parts of AMERICA there are no doctors or dentists either such as parts of West Virginia and along the Applacian trail. They wait up to 3 months for a cavaran of doctors and dentists to come through and then they are seen only by lottery. They can wait uptill 10 hours to be seen or not at all. Millions of children go to bed hungry in this country.
rugbymom75 3 years ago
i trust you, in Italy we have the same problem...but i believe in social role of the music...many singers have sung problem of their own contry...Africa has other problems, now it is time of Africa
wolfett 3 years ago
Never said who I voted for. I can't stand when rock stars and celebs think they are better than the rest of us and that they need to tell us who to vote for, what to wear, what to think. There are Americans, in this country who have to wait months to see a doctor or a dentist. Kids in schools, who can't learn because of the pain of rotting teeth. Why should I send my money to Africa when there are so many needy people right here? Just because Bruce and Bono say so?
rugbymom75 3 years ago
...because in afrca there isn't doctor or dentist...
wolfett 3 years ago

All ego.

I am Springsteen's fan since 3 years, in every his song I find a part of me...he is great!!!
wolfett 3 years ago
If Bruce weren't a singer, he would be a preacher. He has the talent to wip people into a frenzy. He lost me when he made his political views known. I don't a rock star to tell me how I should vote. I find that to be very arrogant. He portrays himself as "everyman" but he is just some rich, spoiled rock star like all the rest. I am disappointed.

dude, you obviously do not know him or know anything about him because you are so wrong. SO wrong.
sexygeek101 3 years ago
Why shouldn't he be allowed to express his views and use his popularity to make people vote the way he thinks is the best? Because he's an artist? That's gotta be one of the most stupid claims I've come across in a while...

intruder2300 3 years ago
springsteen's lyrics are liberal at least, and you can maybe even call some of them socialist. so i don't see how you can like him but not his poltical views, since they go hand in hand.

Those that are fortunate enough to be wealthy, should stop being so greedy and stingy and feel good about spreading their wealth around. They should not mind helping a brother out. Wealth redistribution will make them feel patriotic.
AlAbdulShabazz 3 years ago
wealth redistribution is not the answer. from a religious and/or moral perspective, its true that there should be a sense of charity within those who have much. but it is their choice whether or not to give to charities. most rich people have made their money by working hard or being extremely talented. we should not take away what they have earned. why should everyone be equally poor? socialism at its finest right there...

911 was a terrible day. We need an independent investigation into 911. There were many reporters saying there were explosions in and around the buildings. Also You Tube WTC 7 Collapse and it looks like a controlled demolition! What an awful day.

Obama bill: $845 billion more for global poverty
Democrat sponsors act OK'd by Senate panel that would cost 0.7% of gross national product, U.N. protocols would make U.S. law on issues ranging from the 2nd Amendment to energy usage and parental rights all subservient to United Nations whims.

"The narrator of the song "The Rising" is a fireman who climbs up one of the trade towers on 9/11 and does not survive. The title has more than one meaning -- him relentlessly rising up the stairway, bound by duty and honor, and also the meaning that is there throughout the CD; that of the dead rising up and coming back to us."

this song came out before 9-11.
Rim360 3 years ago
this song came out a little after, right after 9/11 he called a whole bunch of wives and survivors and got their stories, and from those stories he made the entire album
agp319 3 years ago 2
No, it didn't. The album came out July 30, 2002, 9/11 was in 2001.

Until you walk in my shoes, you will never understand what I went through so shut up.
beausense 3 years ago 4
First of all you were the one that said you were a victim not me! As for your loss I'm sorry to hear that and my prayers are with you and your family. My family has lost someone also. So there is no need for you to tell anyone to shut up.
yeahgoahead 3 years ago
What got me ticked was that you assumed I want a handout. Telling you to shut up was rude. Sorry!
