@DeathShamans Did you even read the description of the video? "This is Nero, an education bird at the University of Minnesota's Raptor Center. He is an adult turkey vulture and imprinted on humans.
He is normally housed outside, but the crew was making some adjustments to his housing and he was tethered indoors."
I live in South Florida and love to watch these things take off and look for thermals - then soar like crazy. They are beautiful ... when they are flying.
I didn't realize they lived so long. I got to watch a pair grow up from hatchlings in an old abandoned building a few years ago. I'd check in on them about once a week, and they grew FAST.
i love across the street from a park and sometimes when they come around i just sit in my porch and watch them soar
and on my trip to arkansas i counted how much vultures i saw on the way up there...about 53...i was amazed and how much i saw...and thats just on the way up there

Vultures aren't so bad like many people think they help clean up road kill and stuff. I kinda like them especcially baby vultures.

Do these birds ever hunt, or do they live off garbage their entire life?
SirianKings 2 years ago
They are scavengers and do not hunt. Vultures do not eat garbage, they eat carrion (anything that's dead). They are scavengers and do not hunt.
fairiedragon999 2 years ago
amzing birds. without scavengers like these the world would be waist high in rotting flesh.

I thought that Turkey Vultures were just scavenging birds that ate exclusively carrion. Apparently not I guess lol
