I have no idea, but just a thought; its probably him sitting on his own for say a minute, then on a different take there are all the people around him on a green screen set doing their thing for 20 minutes or so. Afterwords the people are added in and speeded up.

Its definately not a camera trick. Its cut and thrown together on a computer.
