@devildiva9 You've been given the actual lyrics to the film version. "Grass" and "rain" are the original lyrics from the B'way version which came three years before the film.
thanks so much! a few minor misteaks, but who cares?! if u know the right words, sing em! who cares? thanks for posting! you think u cud post thissong with the words? like....the person singing?
@AngelsBwayKaraokes lol i know! its kinda sad in a way...and thanks for trying. thats why i couldnt find it! it sux how youtube blocks things....it's dumb! how do u get around it? i've tried uploading things and they all say rejected.....therefor, i never uploaded any songs or videos....
@AngelsBwayKaraokes For those of us who love theater music (and I was in NY theater and did a stint in London as a living for my whole life) finding posts like this that help keep theater alive is a joy. I did mostly musical theater and it's so great to see the interest in musical theater that seems to have come back. People tell me that it's thanks to Glee because they do so many Broadway showtunes. To me, it's just the fact that people are now starting to see what they've been missing! Thanks.
@msalltheway Not exactly. Tj0epie is referring to the film version's revision to the original lyrics since the movie takes place in the winter, but "the tall grass" and "raindrops that fall have a meaning" is the lyric from the original Broadway show, which came out before the movie.
Thank you so much for putting this up. I am in a talent show in April and I absolutely adore this song. I really need to practice and i'm so grateful for this :0)

Let's make this clear:
Stephanie Mills (Original Broadway Dorothy) said 'grass' and 'raindrops'
Diana Ross (Movie Dorothy) said 'trees' and 'snowflakes
BOTH versions of "The Wiz" were set in different locations and time periods...
Mills: During Tornado Season
Ross: During the Winter
Thanks!

@lovedarlingjulie2435 Thank you so much for not freaking out about the mistakes. Some people make it seem like it's the end of the world.
As for posting the song, I tried posting the OBCR on my other channel, AngelsBwaySongs, and it was rejected because of the copyright. :( Sorry.

in the movie she says snowflakes... but in the broadway version she says raindrops... so i guess it depends.

Guys, it's "GRASS", not "glass".
AAMLfan 2 years ago 2
I'm sure you're right (because that is what makes the most sense) but I've heard it said as grass, glass, and trees.
I'm not going to redo the video, but for everyone who feels it's wrong feel free to substitute whichever word you know in there.
And AAMLfan I'm glad you enjoy them!
AngelsBwayKaraokes 2 years ago

or trees
