No disrespect I was just pointing out the fact of what style the conga player was playing. I never said that she couldn't play, i just said that she wasn't playing Go Go style of smacking the congos. Trust me I've been living in DC all my life, and started playing Go Go Music since i was 14 years old, and I know the style of Go Go when I hear it. That all I was saying, so don't take it to personal man.

It sounds like Go Go but with actual technique. Trenillo. I watched your videos and you definately have some musical talent and groove, but man you go go conga players need to learn some technique, otherwise it just comes off sounding sloppy. Check out Anga Diaz Giovanni Hidalgo, Ray Berretto, Monga Santamaria, these guys are true masters. When you listen to them you can hear how crisp and precise there tones are. This is how congas are meant to be played.

Then that would be true to form. That's like telling a Jazz guitar player that they're not playing Rock the right way. Of course not, because he's playing Jazz. Trust me the players you mentioned might be masters in there style, but if they played at a Go Go concert people would be screaming get the heck off the stage. What i've learn is the respect the style of the music being played. If you looked at my video of me playing the keys, i was playing a old George Benson, but I also play Go Go keys

Trust me, I think the girl that's playing on this video is off the hook, but it's not a true to form Go Go style, and most people that live outside of Washington DC doesn't understand our style of playing the congas, but if you ever came to a live Go Go show you will see how we rock.

Do me a favor, enter this into a search (Miguel Anga Diaz solo from ANGA MANIA!) and watch this video , and then tell me that the masters would get yelled of stage. What I am getting at is that technique is the basis of any instrument, whether youre playing jazz, rock, funk, ect. I am a true funk head so I do know a little bout Go Go and love to play funky conga grooves as well as play many and respect all music styles.

So I do understand the style of which is solid pocket groove, with a syncopated base, and arfo-caribbean rhythm intermixed, and some soul, movement and showmanship to get the crowd dancing. The afro-caribbean rhythms that Go Go barrows are is what these masters play.These guys absolutely could hold there own up there.All I am saying what I've noticed with Go Go conga players is that none take the time to learn proper technique (with a few exceptions).It would really do there playing some good.
