Instead of cutting the line and tying a uni-knot , why not tie a sliding stop knot on the line instead. When you want to fish at a different depth, as you just slide the knot along the line to the new depth. This knot take only a few seconds to tie, and can be tied with either mono or powergum.
@12alien12 Nope it may flick the eyes on the way out but im not usin 120 Lb test line. that would be the only thiong that may make it snag. Been using this method for many years with no problems.
what are the beads for....i dont understand the purpose of this why dont u just put on the weight and let it fall to the ground?...sorry im a beginner
@redsbleeding2003 The weights are made of heavy lead and if that bangs into the metal swivel it will cut the soft nylon lines. thus the bead is a buffer to keep this from hapenning.
Good idea to make floats from noodles, prob good idea to make up a guiding jig to thread the wire/tube.
One interesting casting float is from France, basically a tubular aerodynamic hollow plastic float which can be filled with water to adjust its buoyancy, the less air in it, the deeper it floats (under the water).
very similar to these, but the ones I saw didnt have the end pieces, they just appeared on shelves in UK tackle shops, nothing was ever mentioned about them in UK fishing mags.
If you go to Wallmart or Kmart to buy the noodle they will charge you $2 - $3 for one. Try your local Dollar store they have them for a buck. Nice rig and good idea Manuael tell your Dad I said thanks to him too!
In this video I used weedeater line and oversized beads weight and snap swivel for demonstration purposes. Of course you would TIE on the snap swivel.
thank you

if you leave tag ends on your uni knot to stop the top bead surely it will get caught on your line guides during casting...?

The bottom bead is to protect the line from the lead banging on the swivel.
The top bead is to stop the line at the knot.
Hope that helps

As soon as I get a chance I'll look that info up!
The reason I mentioned Breakaway is because Nick Meyer (Founder of Breakaway) is a close friend of mine.

It's a clear float that the sides screw together right? Click the link I added to the description to see a picture.

I made one of my floats and stuffed a 6 ounce weight in the bottom of it to cast out a live free lined bait fish. It floated just a little bit lower.

I have an old mostly not updated fishing website
geocities malc_hurn has photos and bits from from 4 years or more ago, I now live in MN and havent been sea fishing in over 4 years :(
but I brought over from the UK my sea rods, reels, tripod (makes people look) when using that on a lake and a light sea rod.

I noticed the "Satellite" sinkers on your website. I take it you are familiar with Nick Meyer and Breakaway tackle?

Used to use breakaway gear all the time.
links and bits, for distance casting the long tailed weights are preferred.
very popular in the UK for beach fishing.
google the Gorp 'U.K. Sea Fishing FAQ' which came from the newsgroup uk.rec.fishing.sea basically shows what UK surf fishing was in 1999
wont have changed much since then.

for a easy stop, try a short 1" piece of rubber tubing loop the line through and pull tight, grips and is adjustable, bead to cushion the float.

please send me photos of your catches with a Controlled Depth Float (C.D.F.) Or make a video response with your catch bait rig etc. Thanks! **MZ**
