Interestingly, it actually makes more sense for them to do those "mistakes". It happens in real wars more often than not. I always wished AI would make mistakes every once in a while and not be an all-knowing bot, for example I'd like soccer game referees to give someone a red card by mistake.
Hello, my name is David Heary, i would like to ask you a couple of questions.You see, i am a cutting edge programer looking for the next big thing to give to humanity. I am looking around the Internet to see what info i can collect. Can you kind of give me some foresight into what you think makes a good game and what you wish to see in the future?
Just send me a message on my youtube acount (its nothing company based) and ill be More then happy to message back.
PS i noticed some friendly fire at 0:43 , look at the top right screen and you can see that bricks flying into a soldiers.I think its most likely that theyr own tank caused these bricks to fly in a first place , so its kind of a friendly fire.
Wow , they are actually moving like in real world.Some soldiers advance , while some others stay behind to cover them.I wonder if the actually fall back when they start loosing ? I mean in so many games they fight to the last man.
It'd be interesting if something like this was running for a team of all human players. Your commands would be told to you, and it'd be up to you how to follow them, or whether to at all. A player that doesn't follow orders will not score or could even die. It'd strike an interesting balance between freedom and order. Of course, knowing that the online community is essentially a bunch of hyper-active children they'd get pissed that they can't play exactly how they like, and it wouldn't take off.
@Fishyboy632000000 Nobody ever follows any squad tactics in any game , its just random mess in every single game and server.One of the reasons i dont like multiplayer , besides the fact how easy it is to get killed unless your a well trained player :P
I know, I know. Internet play doesn't work that well for me because almost everyone acts like a douchebag.
Still, if it was enforced hard enough in-game, I think the crowds would thin out and people who are interested in this sort of thing would have a lot of fun. I guess it'd really only work as an indie project.
I dont think you can make players to play like THAT , you can pose some rules into game , but it wont be something equivalent to a military dicipline :P
AI is a bit extreme. Parameter/Method is more appropriate. It's not that big of a deal, but computational efficiency is not the same as intelligence. Or, maybe it is. I just made all that up. Which is even better than knowing what I'm talking about.

0:20 to 0:30---A squad is destroyed by their own tank.
0:32 to End of Video---Takes them that long to move 40 feet.
0:45 to End of Video---Platoon is clustered in one area.
I don't know if whoever posted this made it, but there's more than just a few things wrong with the "AI."
Good show though!

@PuppeteerInteractive
friendly fire never happened with my unit when I was in iraq, but that might be because truly qualified personnel were in charge of us.

Very interesting. Something like this can help bring about a brighter future for RTS, with some amazing possibilites.
