  • caca is poop in portuguese

  • @xitsjuliette I cant believe it how can someone be so uneducated?she can see her hair, her relatives can see her hair and so can women and her husband. Just shows that she isnt a whore like some and she doesnt rely on other peoples judgement. If you understood, you would have great respect for her...she has found what makes her happy and she has a belief that is close to her. If you cant understand that due to your lack in eductaton and understanding of others beliefs and feelings, shut up.

  • Ok I just tried LUSH today. My hair is medium reddish brown (dyed red 5 months ago) and Im wondering if it gets darker over time??

  • I leave it in for 3-4 hours, or over night (with my hair covered in seran-wrap, and this way it keeps it really warm, and then it really penetrates. I go through many bars of this because I got the Puerto Rican hair (rather than my chinese side). I know you made this video a year ago, but just in case you decide to Henna again, you may wanna try a different way. Thats just the way I do it. Hope it went well for ya :D

  • Personally I see a change in the colour in my hair, and I had dark hair to begine with. I crush it by putting it in a plastic bag and smashing it against a hard surface.. the rest of the big chunks I can add hot water to and squish the big chunks. I add coffee to make the colour darker (mostly for my mom who has a few grays.. :P )

  • I have used Caca from Lush several times.. My mom swears by this.. she won't use anything else. I'm in France right now living in residence, so theres no way I can do this without staining the shower.. Also, I always get my mom to do it because its a pain in the butt to do it alone.. and it DOES stain. I wear my old clothes/pjs and I was it out in the sink in the basement that no one uses. It WILL stain :P

  • Thank you for a great review:) i think your awesome<3

  • im sure ur hair is gorgeous underneath ^-^

  • @TheCoocooforcocopuff i agree, she doesnt rely on others' judgement as there are more important things in life for her - instead of showing of to people...so truee xxx

  • I really appreciate this review. What hair type do you have (3a, 3b, 3c, 4a, 4b)? How does this compare to the other type of henna that you've tried?

  • in French "caca" means poo! It is a word used by children. hihihi funny.

    thanks for this video

  • this was very informative thanks :)

  • I found this not helpful, not to be racial or anything but you're not showing us your hair before or after and so I do not see the point of this video? If I sound rude/racial watever but alot of other people agree. This was pointless

  • @MaiSuperAngel What does my race have to do with me covering my hair? I cover my hair because of my religious beliefs which has nothing to do with my race at all. This is NOT a tutorial, it is a review. I've seen several reviews of this product in which the ladies were showing their hair, and did not use or apply the product in the video. A lot of people don't agree with you, only 3 agree, 79 people liked the video.

  • @FreeHandMehndi like i said, i wasn't being racial with you covering up ur hair, u're doing a review, yet you do not show the product result, its kind of pointless. ex; someone told you to buy this awesome new product & told u how they used it themselves, but when you ask for what it looked like or what their results were and they dont show you, dont you think thats a bit weird? but if you were somehow offended, then oh well, thats how you feel. and i guess you dont understand the term 'racial'

  • @MaiSuperAngel The girl in the video is giving a review, it wasn't a tutorial. Oh and the video was helpful... too bad you didn't pay attention.

  • @starvingforinsanaty haha! i know it was a review, i can read, i was just expecting to see results

  • @MaiSuperAngel YOU ARE PATHETIC. The only ones that may agree are the ones that do not exceed 1 or 2 brain cells, like you. PRODUCT REVIEW. not TUTORIAL. Before you open your mouth and dribble shit, think.

  • @confusedkid97 oh gee thanks! confusedkid..... whats the difference between review and tutorial?? hhmmmm im not sure??? why dont u the CONFUSEDKID tell me?? :D

  • @xitsjuliette thats really offensive.

  • @xitsjuliette OMgoodness, how ignorant can you be. People are anal about bikini waxing (completely naked) when no one is going to see it. It might be hard for you to understand but it's okay to do something for yourself. To not have other people completely control every action you do. Make yourself happy first.

  • @xitsjuliette I can see my hair. I see it everyday. My friends, family, and spouse see my hair too. It's ok to do something nice for yourself and not have to show everyone.

  • A couple of hints. - Caca Rouge has no coffee grounds, so you might prefer that. Also, instead of grating I have my husband put the blocks I want into a couple of plastic bags and then he goes at them with a rubber mallet. Takes him less than five minutes to pummel it into a fine enough form to mix up. SO MUCH BETTER than the grating.

  • @footnotegirl I wanted caca rouge so bad, but my local lush was out at the time. Maybe I'll pay them another visit :)

  • Thanks :)

  • Thanks for posting this :)

  • thanks for the helpful tips! im in the process of waiting.. im doing caca brun :]

  • whats your hair type? do you know i.e. 3c, 4b, etc, if not, is it wavy, curly, kinki? is it quite dry naturally? sorry to ask, I want to compare to mine

  • @NaturalhairGrwthShow I don't know my hair type, but it's thick and curly. I do not recommend this product for natural black hair, the coffee grounds take days to wash out and irritate the scalp. I love yemeni henna for my hair and highly recommend yemeni henna for black hair.

  • It's to shaky

  • Is it ok to use a metal spoon to mix? I heared you're not allowed to do that because the henna can cause a certain reaction. I heard that's the reason why you cannot use henna on chemicly treated hair ( the chemical dye has metals in it) because it will turn your hair green?

  • @parodybarbiegirl I think there is some confusion here. First, it's ok to use a metal spoon in henna as long as you are not also using a metal bowl. The bowl I used is plastic, thus making this ok. Henna CAN be used on chemically treated hair, natural henna. The metals you talk about are not from a spoon, they are something added to the mixture that cause those problems (not pure henna). If you use impure henna on chemically treated hair, your hair will melt.

  • @FreeHandMehndi Lush's henna is actually safe to use in metal bowls, metal spoon, metal everything! It doesn't have any of the chemicals that cause reactions in metal! Don't be shy, LUSH has metal safe henna! Yay!

  • @parodybarbiegirl Thank you very much for your responce. It helped me out a lot. I've been dying my hair red for a while now but people keep suggesting henna. I was always put of because my hair is chemicaly treated. Thank you so much :-)

  • Great video I might buy this now! Btw those nasty people should shut up about her headscarf and mind their own beeswax.

  • Thanks for the video - I just bought the caca brun and am watching and reading as many reviews before I go ahead and do it! I love how you showed how you made it, it makes more sense to me now! haha

  • @missswitz Glad the video was helpful for you, thanks for watching :-)

  • what i dont get is... if ur a muslim, why do u care about what color your hair is anyways?? no one is going to see it ..

  • @shesarebel1818 That's where you're wrong. People do see my hair. Muslim women do not cover all the time, which a lot of people don't know. I care how I look, I want to look nice. You don't walk around with your underwear showing, but I'm sure you make sure you buy nice undies and that they're clean, right?

  • @FreeHandMehndi Thanks! I never knew that. But, with your example, yes, I do make sure my underwear is clean and fresh, but I don't mind the color or design much, since yes, it won't be showing.

  • @FreeHandMehndi i like that answer :)

  • @shesarebel1818 Why watch a video of a woman with covered hair when you can watch the same product being used by someone with uncovered hair? I bet you didn't even watch the whole review. You have an issue with my scarf, and what it stands for. Your comment has nothing to do with this video or the product.

  • @FreeHandMehndi Sorry my comment was offensive. I didn't mean it to be. I was just curious. It just popped into my head, and thought I'd ask. And as for why I watched the video, I was thinking about buying the product, and wanted to figure out how to use it. There was no offence against your religion intended at all. :)

  • @FreeHandMehndi im not muslim but dont mind those people who have negative things to say about things they dont understand. they are insensitive and tactless... i enjoyed your review

  • @shesarebel1818 jerk

  • ok so happy u brot up the hard to get out of hair issue. 1st the green film thing u say it leaves..isnt that wat henna & cassia ect also eave??..coz it has for me.2nd i guess the coffee grouds were an extra hard thing in there to get out, but isnt henna also hard for u to get out too??...coz thats the biggets thing my mom complains about...can u tell me how u get these natural prods out of ur hair??

  • how long did u let it sit for??..i noe it dosnt need die release as u said....but did u go to sleep after mixing it??

  • I found it the same with the staining! It washed off really easily if it was on a hard surface like a benchtop but anything material it stuck to like anything :\. I managed to get it on my top, bra, shower curtain and bath mat :P woo me.

  • Thanks for your reply. Maybe what I posted was a bit harsh. First, please do not insult my intelligence by saying you are a Muslim. Only an idiot who has lived under a rock for the past 100 years would not be aware of that. My issue is that since YouTube is a VISUAL medium, what someone actually sees is important. It is not my intention to disrespect you or your religion, but to simply voice my opinion as a speech instructor. You said the video is not about hair, but it IS about a hair product.

  • @kilrkay There are over 1000 lush review videos on youtube. Please take your pick, and find one that works better for you. If I was reviewing a deodorant would you want me to lift my arm and show you that? Or maybe a shower gel, then I get naked and show my shower too. LOL. Ridiculous!

  • @kilrkay Also, since there's no need for me to point out that fact that I'm a Muslim, then there's no need for you to ask why I wont uncover my hair in a video. Since it's a well known fact Muslim women do not show their hair in public. I'm unsure what being a speech instructor has anything to do with this review.

  • Please, I mean no disrespect, but this is a video about hair and it would be great to see yours.

  • @kilrkay The video about lush caca marron, not about hair. I'm a Muslim women and Muslim women do not show their hair in public. My hair is just like the hair on your head, the standard issue hair that everyone comes with lol. I know the video is long, but my grasp on the english language is so good that I'm sure if you listen to the words you'll understand my opinion.

  • @TheMorbiousStone Yes, that's true.

  • @FreeHandMehndi it is, but i was just just teasing

  • Your really pretty

  • @roxysurfer2 Thank you :-)

  • Not sure if anyone has mentioned this (I only read a few pages back in the comments) but you don't have to grate the henna to use it. I am using this tonight and all I did was use a very sharp kitchen knife and cut the blocks apart, then cut them again into chunks. Put in a bowl and cover with boiling water and let sit a few minutes. Put the bowl over a pot of boiling water (double boiler style) stirring to finish melting the henna, then apply while warm. Also Rouge doesn't have coffee. :)

  • @amyshy This is caca marron, not rouge, and marron has coffee, it's listed as an ingredient on the lush site. It would be nice if lush provided directions in their store, or on their site, sadly they don't. I don't think grating made much of a difference in the results, it was just an unnessasary step.

  • Aaah I bought this earlier, i'm gonna use it tomorrow to do a strand test and then dye it all on friday, i'm a bit scared though because i've never dyed my hair or done anything to it before, but your videos made me feel better so thank you! :)

My hair is pretty curly though, you know when you mentioned that henna can like, change the curl pattern, what exactly do you mean by that? :)

    Great video! ^^

  • @xSarahBee It is not a permanent change, it's just a slight change in the way your curls look. I did not experience this so it's hard to describe, but I've heard that other people have seen this happen to their hair.

  • @FreeHandMehndi

    Oh cool okay, thanks! :)

  • do u use all of it or just one sqaure?

  • @lipgloss675411 I think it depends on how long and thick your hair is.

  • If I had to guess, it'd be the clove oil that's making your scalp itchy.

  • ALL us Women are absolutely Beautiful!!! No matter what our faiths or cultures. I think it's our differences that make us each special & Unique :) You know...Too Bad we can't make All the Boys turn around real fast, so we can see how Pretty your hair looks ;) lol

  • it looks like a giant chocolate bar! LOL!

  • @maleficentdiva LOL Yummy

  • @Shreen94 It's not racist at all. Good question. I dye my hair because I like to look nice and feel good about myself. It's a common misconception that Muslim women don't want to be beautiful, and that couldn't be farther from the truth, we like to be feminine and pretty too. I only wear my scarf in public, or where men who are not related to me will be. The men and women in my family, my husband, my male relatives, and my friends see my hair on a regular basis.

  • @Shreen94 I'd say to feel pretty, we girls do that a lot, she'll look at her hair and find it pretty, like when we do our toenails in the middle of winter, only you can see it but that's enough ;)

  • @cinnamonbed You're right, it is to feel and look pretty. We should all do something nice for ourselves every once in a while, even if no one sees it but us :-)

  • I think it itches because you left it on way too long, especially leaving it on all night. That is not a good amount of time to be exposed to those chemicals natural or non-natural. I have my own soap company so I am thinking you are having an allergic reaction and should not use that again without patch testing. Best wishes.

  • @kimberly3d You're probably right. I was thinking the same thing. It's still sitting in my bathroom unused.

  • @FreeHandMehndi I am sure you can still use it again but I would not leave it on any longer than 20-40 minutes. I am sure your skin was just irritated. Make sure to do a good hair conditioning oil treatment after that. It could have stripped your hair. Perhaps an olive oil treatments with some orange essential oil or rosemary and mint essential oil could help condition your hair and skin after you do anything to your hair. Soy oil would work too.

  • @kimberly3d yes the max you should leave it is 6 hours max even though it is natural

  • Great video! Do you happen to know if Lush covers gray hair?

  • @spagrl80 I'm not sure. I suggest contacting lush about that.

  • Thanks for the great tutorial/review :D

I just bought this and I will do a before & after video soon.

Weird Question: How did you upload such a long video?

  • @CAinslieI Glad you enjoyed the tutorial/review. I am a youtube partner so I am able to upload very long videos.

  • @FreeHandMehndi Very cool! Thank you for answering!

  • Thanks for doing this review because I was thinking of purchasing this product. I think I definetly will now :D

  • Hi. Can you tell me how long henna lasts in your hair? Do you have to keep repeating the proses like normal hair dye? please let me know :)

  • @Nioami55 Depends on the hair really. Henna might fade a little, but as your hair grows you should do a new henna treatment. Once a month is good.

  • I'm just kinda wondering, what's the point in dying your hair if you have to cover it up? :/

  • @tempusero1 My hair is only covered in front of men I am not related or married to. That leaves the whole female population, my male family, my husband, and children. They see my hair, and I see it and I want it to be a different color every now and then. Some people get tattoos and they still wear clothing over it, some people buy nice furniture only to put it inside of their house. I can dye my hair and cover it, that's my right.

  • @FreeHandMehndi I'm sorry if I offended you at all and think it's great that you've doe this, all the best :)

  • thanks so much for your response. your videos are very informative and you are such a great artist, as I was watching you create some pretty interesting henna designs the other day. take care and thank again :-)

  • So did it go on red or brown or what?

I have dark brown hair myself, but i wouldn't mind a nice red tint.

  • I have been doing henna for some time now and when I leave it in for more than 8 hours my scalp begins to itch. This is true for conditioner as well, as this sensitivity has just revealed itself ( or I just caught on, more like it ! ) and I can only leave the conditioner in for no more than 2 hours. Maybe this is your case??!! So, yemeni henna stains darker than maroccan henna? I am looking for a chocolate brown ( by mixing it indigo). the moroccan was nice but is the yemeni darker?? thanks

  • @withintheword Yemeni henna for hair will always be my favorite, over any of the others. It isn't darker than the others, it just gives me the color I want, and it does not dry my hair out .You are probably right about the scalp sensitivity issue. It is so hit and miss when it comes to coloring with natural products, I suggest mixing small batches of indigo and henna until you get the color you want, try adding amla too, that helps to cool the red in the henna.

  • I wonder if the itching isn't due to the fact that she left the product the entire night when it is advised to leave it approx. 2 hours..?

  • @dichama That could very well be a factor. I never read anything in the packaging that said the maximum time is 2 hours. I believe the coffee grounds irritated my scalp and that caused the itching, I never considered the time the product was left on my hair. I henna my hair all the time and leave the henna on overnight and have never had this issue.

  • @FreeHandMehndi Sorry for the 'she', only realized after that you reply to comments =) I don't think it's written anywhere but I've been told that 2 hours is enough for the product to be effective. Otherwise, I would think that it was the perfume that did that to your scalp because the other ingredients seem fine (I feel like the perfume is unnecessary and probably not good for the hair nor the scalp) =)

  • @dichama She is ok with me =) I am going to ask a few other people who have used and reviewed this product if they have experienced the same thing. It could be a perfume or something else. I drink coffee all the time and never have a problem. Thanks for the food for thought. I might take a closer look at the ingredients list.

  • @FreeHandMehndi Hi FreeHand-I am thinking of using henna, and learned a lot from your video today, thanks! My question is about yemeni henna, where does one purchase this? At a regular health supply store? I'm in the US by the way. From the sounds of it, Yemeni henna is better due to it dyes darker? Do you add moisturizing oils to your henna? I'm in the SF/bay area, so have access to many different types of stores. Thanks again!

  • @dichama I think there's clove oil in the henna bar, which can be irritating...

  • (Continued) So I'm a bit worried about the itching haha. But I'm sure it'll be bearable. I can't wait to use the product though, it'll be a little messy, but worth it.

  • @Scarlettfever1991 It is not too messy, but as long as you can take the itching, I am sure it will be fine.

  • Thanks for this great review. I had been dying my hair red from last December and only stopped roughly a month ago. My hair is naturally a mousey brown colour, and at the moment it is a chestnut colour. I read in the Lush Times that a girl has a similar problem and used Caca Noir and her hair is now back to her original shade. I hope to buy some Caca Brun tomorrow and try it out, but I used a hair mask from Lush which included henna a while back and like you my hair just wouldn't stop itching...

  • Very thorough review. Many thanks.

  • Great review! Thanks for giving us a candid breakdown of the pros & cons.

  • IT MAKES SENCE! O.0

  • @freehandmehndi: so how did you like it???? :-) I am having very dark brown hair and i wonder how it turns out...

  • I used the Lush Caca Noir and I just added hot water, and you don't have to let it dye release because it already has lemon juice. You can actually just plop the pieces of the bar into a bowl and pour boiling (or nearly boiling) water in, and it will melt into a paste. Though your method of grating certainly did make it easier to mix together.

  • @LadyTigerLily Lemon juice in henna is not a substitute for dye release, henna for hair needs to dye release just like henna for skin. Henna for hair does not have to dye release as long as henna for skin though. I am not sure if lush allowed the henna to dye release before the mixture was made into a solid bar. It did not really do much for my hair, and irritated my scalp for days after. I went back to using a more traditional mixture.

  • @FreeHandMehndi lemon juice in henna for hair works just fine as a dye release.. I don't know what you mean. I didn't use lush, I used powder and lemon juice and now my hair is 10x redder than I wanted.. it def releases dye!

  • @moogle301 I don't know what you mean either. If you look at my channel you will see it is all about henna, and I henna for a living. I don't claim to be an expert, but I know how to mix henna. I do it all day, everyday. I was replying to another comment, and I think you misunderstood my reply. Adding lemon juice to henna does not equal instant dye release, it takes 4-6 hours. So if you put lemon juice in henna, and then put it in a solid bar like lush did, the henna has no time to dye release.

  • i'm wondering does henna (the lush henna for your hair) damage your hair?? and can you still use your shampoo and conditioner or do you have to use something else?

  • @Loeviis It did not damage my hair, and in general henna itself does not damage the hair. Yes, you can shampoo and condition after you henna your hair.

  • @Loeviis Henna is very good for your hair, actually. It's deep conditioning, glossing, and is also very good if you have dry, itchy scalp or dandruff.

  • that was really helpful! just a quick question - does henna wash out gradually?

  • @eatme0drinkme Good question. Unlike henna on skin, when you henna your hair it will stay that way until you cut it off or dye it with something else.

  • @eatme0drinkme

The women in Lush told me that the first time you put henna on it washes out after 8 weeks. But the more you use it, the more permanent in becomes. They can also give you an oily shampoo to help get it out quicker if you want. :)

  • @chickenpieandgravy What the women in Lush told you is a lie. Once you dye your hair with henna, it is permanent and does not wash out even if it is your first time, and even if you use oily shampoo. The henna does not coat the hair shaft and then wash out over time like a color rinse, the dye molecule in the henna adheres to the hair shaft and changes its color. Using henna on hair and henna on skin is not the same process and I think that is where these ladies at Lush got confused.

  • I'm not really educated about muslim culture so I'm sorry if this is offensive but if you are not ever allowed to show your hair then why would you dye it? Is there a time when you can show you hair or something?

  • @HeatherC19 I am allowed to show my hair, but not on camera for strangers to see. I think it is cool if a woman wants to do something special for herself, that makes her feel good, and does not have to make a show for everyone else to see.

I can show my hair in front of all women, and men that I cannot marry (i.e. my father, brother, nephew, son, step son, step father, uncle, grandfather, etc). I can also uncover in front of my husband.

  • I have natural hair, it is a 4b hair type and I used jamila with lemon juice and a little lavender to help the smell of the henna. It didn't dry my hair and my hair never looked better. I have very dark brown hair and at 30 years old some grey :). My grey turned an awesome red/copper color and my dark brown hair had a beautiful red tint in light. It stretched my hair.

Hope that was easy to understand.

  • @gnaizoh My hair is naturally very dry, so citrus makes it worse. I love Yemeni henna, it does for my hair what Jamila does for you. I have never found what my hair type is, there is such a mix up there. Do you know of a resource where I could find out the type of curl pattern I have?

  • ever thought of using a spice grater, like one used to grate whole nutmeg or cinnamon? or a grater used to zest citrus fruits?? just an idea...........great video!! :-)

  • @StrainSop The only spice grater we have is for food only. The cheese grater is an older one we never use. It would probably be a fine powder if I used a spice grater.

  • By far the best LUSH henna review and tutorial in YouTube. Very informative and helpful.

By the way, you said your hair is dark and after using it, it became brown with burgundy when seen under the light. Well, how dark was your hair and how brown did it make your hair? Thanks! (I hope my question isn't confusing you.)

  • @AlasseM Most of my hair is dark brown, but I have lighter shades in some areas. So, it made the dark areas darker, and the lighter areas have a burgundy brown hue. I think it is the indigo that made it really dark, and the henna with indigo that made the lighter areas burgundy brown.

  • henna on hair is beautiful, but dont try perms or other chemical services after...

  • @sidsthirdeye Good advice. What about before? Is it ok to put henna on the hair after perm or chemical services, let's say a month after?

  • @FreeHandMehndi

    hi!

henna and chemical salon services are never good together! it will not only make the perms not take, but it will dammage the internal structure of the hair. best just stick to one or the other!
