  • @lifeinterrupted

Hey its nice to have you here. Usually when my channel blows up with comments its a bad thing, you know haters. So I look forward to it :)

Um I'm not coherent right now either, I'm knackered. Staying up late listening to lectures is fun.

  • I'm looking forward to dialoguing with you! It's ridiculous how much you two have made my evening, err, morning. Be well!

  • Right on! Greetings fellow feminist!

    lol

I'm a black feminist and after hearing a lot of negativity about feminism, let alone black feminism, its nice to hear someone who truly understands the true meaning of what feminism is.

  • Hello my dear Nuclear, a vid on Black Feminism, beautiful!! I've been an Angela Davis fan for years, I love her lectures, she's a true leader. I have much respect for black women like Oprah and Michelle Obama. LOL @ that sexist black guy!! spikemsth = someone who knows what their talking about

  • who has it worst off?

a one legged, black, lesbian, single-mother, on welfare.

  • I disagree... just because a black lesbian would be picked on by one type of person - a bigot - sure they'd have to choose which of the two categories to focus on but really, it wouldn't matter... one would usually override the other... or maybe not.

I don't think you can quantify bigotry... often you'll find in the absense of a black lesbian, the same asshole would pick on a guy with glasses, or long hair, or someone with a speech impediment... that's what assholes do.

  • This video was confusing for me...and I don't think it comes from my origins.

Identity is complex. You touched on it when you pointed out that self-definition through an over reliance on categories is often counter productive.

Is it good to always define the problems in stereotypic categories?

Your final emphasis on Angela Davis as leading the way for humanity - Yes, that's where the emphasis should be IMHO.

Revolutions are often dismal and hypocritical disappointments.

    Evolution maybe?

  • I'm sticking with revolution since evolution is taking a bit too long.

  • LOL OK...Let the heads roll!

  • There are also women in other countries (like Pakistan), who have it much harder than black women in the west. So why not say then, that you will focus on them as a means of bringing about freedom for all? That is of course, if your interest is to focus on who suffers the greatest oppression. I'm just making a point.

  • That will be focused on in another video on another type of feminist theory, these videos are meant to educate people about different feminist theories, not portray them as the way and the light for all humanity.

  • Feminism shouldn't be about focusing on any woman's color, but rather about the rights of all women in general. Too often some feminist appeal to race (always blacks), because they find that it's the only ticket that still has power behind it. In other words: feminist aren't looked upon in a good light anymore. So they use race which as a means to further their own agenda as well.

  • Black feminism is a movement that was created and is maintained solely by black women, it wasn't something white women came up with to validate feminism. Its also many decades old so I fail to understand how we're using because feminism isn't looked at in a good light. Most people, not only feminists understand that human beings are different and face different obstacles in our society and a movement for the liberation of women needs to take that into consideration.

  • Black people are fucking up pretty bad. In a time where more & more black families have women as 'heads of household' a lot of sexism and misogyny persists. It goes back to what I was taught as a kid... because I was different, i had to be twice as good as the other guy to be equal with him. Back to media literacy in general, it's all tied together. The White Man still owns everyone (sorta).

  • Definitely. There are of course exceptions to the fact that white men own everything but it still remains that the world's most powerful players are very white and very male.

  • Spike,

If more and more women PERIOD are heads of household, while the father's role is being almost completely eradicated by government (especially by the INFLUENCE of feminism), where does misogyny come into play? Where?

Is there sexism involved? -- YES!

But it isn't misogynistic sexism, especially in the Western world.

Name me ONE man in YOUR life who has EVER claimed to hate women, compared to the millions, if not billions, of women who tout their hatred of men EVERY SINGLE DAY!

    --FJ

  • Don't wanna be rude, but sexism is inherently misogynistic, dumbass. In order to do/be/act sexist there has to be some level of misogyny otherwise that behavior would not happen.

"the father's role is being almost completely eradicated by government (especially by the INFLUENCE of feminism),"

Are you blaming the fact that some men don't stand up for their responsibilities on the government & feminism? That's the most bullshit, weak and pathetic statement I've ever heard. stfu with the caps too.

  • 1) Sexism is an inhuman IDEOLOGY, Spike -- NOT a HUMAN BEING. There's nothing INHERENT or even monolithic about it. You being an admitted "semi-feminist" (though I see nothing "semi" about your brownnose attack on me), you obviously don't know what the word "sexism" means.

    2) SOME men deliberately don't stand up to their responsibility as fathers, but do they equate THE ENTIRE MALE GENDER?

    By the way, smarty,

If you can show us how to type IN BOLD on YT, feel free!

    If not, YOU zip it!

    --FJ

  • We can argue semantics of the difference b/w sexism and misogyny all day long, but they are related and not mutually exclusive.

I will say that you don't represent males very well, sir. Stop acting like a victim, I don't buy it because in reality women are still repressed to some degree. Victim mentality is the sign of a twisted head. Here you are whining like a bitch, "what about meeee?" Are you just jealous because the woman got picked for the hair stylist position instead of you? Haha, gtfo.

  • <3s for Spike.

  • Hey there, Tike...

For you to quip that I don't represent males very well is actually quite an honor consider that I DO INDEED represent males whereas you don't represent ANYTHING but yourself in a thinly-veiled attempt to win favor with women.

You don't even represent women with your pandering, because real women don't need to be pandered to.

    Reality check, Tike:

Try defending yourself against a violent female hairdresser, and then pleading your case to the law. The "bitch" will be YOU!

    --FJ

  • The only males you represent are the ones who fear the vagina, why else would you be so threatened by a woman with power?

Haha, I take it you got your ass beat-down by your colorist?

  • The only one between us who fears the vagina is YOU, pal.

How can ANYONE, much less you, claim that women are powerLESS and powerFUL at the same time, SS? It's nonsense!

Women have been both the benefit AND the destruction of the world just as men have been FOR GENERATIONS! Your lack of vision doesn't render it non-existent.

The difference between you and I is that I KNOW vagina -- intimately AND POLITICALLY. I also know that women are VERY capable of ABUSING the power they have.

  • Bitter troll is bitter. Death by snu-snu!

  • Picking any particular race (even ones own), has nothing whatsoever to do with feminism in gerneral. It has everything to do with a tribal mentality that needs to be overcome.

  • Like I said, all oppression that exists is linked together in a common cause, racism has everything to do with feminism and any feminist worth their weight understands that.

  • You could remove all racism from the world, and still have a great degree of sexism. Think about when Barack Obama ran against Hillary Clinton for president. The media clealy showed a great degree of sexism, while bending over backwards for Obama.

Listen to Chris Matthews for example:

    /watch?v=zODHaIDfPXU

  • I fail to see why that means we shouldn't fight against racism and sexism at the same time, also I don't believe its possible to remove all racism from the world without eliminating sexism in the process. Divide and conquer is how they do it.

  • I'm not saying for anyone to avoid fighting against both of them, but that I don't see them as both being part of the same fight. They can easily exist seperate from one another without any problem whatsoever.

Also racism tends to be viewed mostly from the perspective of white against black. When in actuality, all races are discriminated against. Many people hate others who aren't apart of their paticular... tribe.

  • Aside from the fact that Hillary received MORE PRELIMINARY VOTES than ANY OTHER PRESIDENT IN U.S. HISTORY, Hillary and Barack are well on the same page, NC.

Hillary hates men, and so does Barack.

    --The Final Justice

  • lol. Yes Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama are both livid man haters. I think I saw them hanging around that female separatist commune a few weeks ago.

  • I hate to break it to you, Night, but "Black feminism" IS used to validate not only feminism in general, but also the dissolution of the male/female dynamic and the family unit among African people. Moreover, "Black feminism" was NOT created by African women.

The ideology of feminism in itself was created by white women less than 100 years ago when African MEN AND WOMEN were STILL considered less than white women.

As such, there's no such thing as "Black feminism" without feminism itself.

  • Real Comment:

    Good points all around.

As a male biracial semi-feminist, the solution I've arrived at is to beat the odds, get as much money & power as you possibly can by whatever means possible. Then you can use influence in the arenas where it matters, board rooms, investment meetings, etc. For women especially, media literacy needs to be more widespread, that way young women can see outside the sexy/sexist expectations the MSM surrounds them with. But biological predisposition is real too.

  • I obviously disagree, thats a very individualistic approach, not everyone can be rich and powerful. I approach it this way : do we liberated women want to join the clubhouse or burn it down?

  • Good analogy. I don't see why we would want to burn anything down though, joining seems much more win for everyone.

When I invoke The White Man, it's with caps... it has little to do with white people in general. Perhaps it's a bit racist, but historically speaking, it's just real talk.

  • The point is that not everyone can join the clubhouse, are we in this for ourselves or for everyone?

I don't think its racist to point out that rich white men control nearly every inch of life on this planet.

  • If a few invaders kick in the door of the clubhouse and assert their presence, they could be a powerful force for equity across the board. Not everyone can be 'in the club' but there's no reason why non-members shouldn't be afforded the same rights and respect as club members. But I know, you object to the club's very existence. I'm just talking practical solutions. People are just fucking up in general :-)

  • I so agree with you. But I am Native, and when I say it, people think that I am being racist because I'm not mostly white.

So when white people say it, it's a huge thing to me =)

  • Gender, race, and fortune of birth should be nothing to us... we should simply see ourselves as what we really are, simply Humans...

  • I don't think anyone is disputing that, but the fact that certain people face institutionalized oppression, identifying it and finding common cause with others who face similar problems helps to dismantle those forms of hatred and oppression.

  • I absolutely agree, and just as we need to find the common cause, we also need to make clear what our goals are... thus why I periodically state what I see as the goals of Humanity... or at least what I would like to see =3

    Great video as usual...

  • Video 9? Is that like District 9?

  • No, it was one of those special occasions where youtube uploads a video without saving the settings I put to it, yay.

  • Yea youtube "fixed" the video uploader and now the description you give the video during upload, isn't added to the video. Instead you get the file name added, with no description, and the tags being simply the video title... annoying as hell...
