  • You transformed me into a bow-making machine! (and saved my Christmas bdw) I followed this tutorial when wrapping presents and boy you should have seen my bf’s stunned expression…I also made bows to top a mini tree and to decorate the staircase banister and mantle…Thank you so much…You’re awesome!

  • @Mistyflowerpower1 I am so glad you found it useful! Thank you for the compliment!!! RR

  • This is so hard!! I tried making it but it looks very bad.

  • Don't forget to twist it haha

  • Thank you so much for making this video!! I have this huge doll house for my niece that needs a very special big bow! :)

  • Very easy., Happy Holidays!

  • skrillex sent me!

  • @MondoPanda >>>>>me 2!!!!

  • 17 PEOPLE DIDN'T GET NOTHING FOR CHRISTMAS OR NEW YEARS

  • this was great been trying to learn i see how you have to twist each time you make each loop.. thanks for sharing.. and have a Happy Holiday ... Joe ♫

  • too bad i have just finnished wrapping the presents....... :(

  • I have to say this video is the BEST bow making video on Youtube

  • @PublicRoyalty100 Thank you so much... I made this video 3 years ago... it was my first upload on youtube. I look at it now... 100 uploads later, and think of all the ways I would do it differently ... not the content, but the filming and editing etc ... lol... so, Its nice to hear you liked it and most importantly, you were able to learn from it! Merry Christmas to you !!!

  • Twist it...then twist it...Haha! I still don't get it!

  • That was a beautifully wrapped gift...thank you for showing us how it is done.

  • lol

  • Thank you so much!! I always wanted to learn how to do that.

  • Thank you SO much!! The first one I made turned out great and was so easy after a little practice. :)

  • No more premade stick-on gift bows for me! Thanks :)

  • No , its not really easy .

  • Omg your hair is gorgeous :D

  • Mine is a wired ribbon and I can't make it as perfect as yours, but thanks so much! I actually made a decent single bow. :)

  • Okay there must be something wrong with me. I keep trying this but it keeps undoing at the end. I just can't figure out where to tie it without it looking all lumpy. Obviously I'm not meant to make bows.

  • @5995char It can take some practice. Just watch the video several times and keep practicing. You'll get it, you'll see =)

  • where did you get the wrapping paper?? >A< looks nice lol

  • Your cute. The present is beautiful :)

  • I made mine IDENTICAL to yours in under five minutes! Thankyou so so much for this video! It'll get me through the holidays fashionable :)

  • @CityGirlSwag Thats awesome! So glad you found it helpful! My daughter was able to shine last night.... while at her boyfriends home, she found her bow making skills came in handy ... she was able to help his mom decorate their Christmas tree with bows and... well... save the day :-). I don't think she fully appreciated knowing what she knows till she realized she had a skill others did not! Good luck to you this year! You're off to a great start! RR

  • Great how to video, amazing bow...just wish it wasn't so choppy, I kept feeling like I missed something xD and I wish it would of been closer to her fingers so I could see exactly how she was doing it, but I hope I can do it! lol

  • That is such a beautifully wrapped present!!! Wow! im going to try and attempt to wrap it like you ;)

Thank you for the video :)

  • she looks like a MILF.

  • OMG holy gorgeous dining room batman

  • mom I love your hair in this video!

  • i just love your videos. OH OH by the way, just in watching one of the vids of an install i saw you had bookcases (and i've always hated ours in our living room) but i got the idea to remove some shelves, and then hang a picture in there where the shelves were...... sweet !! thank you for the time you take to do these videos. i'm redoing mylaundry room.... yep you inspired me again !!! you are awesome

  • @morning0wood naahh, a little too stale and stiff for me

  • Love it!! -3

  • omg u make it look so easy and its just impossible to me lol

  • I think it's funny when the packaging costs more than the gift inside.

  • wow, wish she was closer to the camera! :(

  • usefull! :D

  • When I get to the end of making my bow and attempt to tie it, it falls apart. I keep watching the video over and over again, but I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. It seems as though when I get to the tying step, all I have left in my fingers to tie is twisted ribbon which will not hold together after tying. Could you help me with this please? I am so frustrated that U cannot get this to work. :(

  • @givegodpraise1

Once you have finished making the bow, cut it off from the rest of the length of ribbon whilst still holding the bow together. Then cut off another piece from the length of ribbon. Use this second piece to wrap around the centre of the bow and tie a knot. This will hold the bow together.

Hope I explained that clearly enough! :)

  • WHY RIBOON AND NOT NEWSPAPER

  • @blancav69 I know right..... LOL you're funny! RR

  • Beautiful! Wrapping my sisters present right now ;)

  • thanks for sharing

  • Can the twisting technique only be used with wire ribbon?

  • @kimberleylotr2004 I couldn't get it to work properly with non-wire ribbon; too fiddly and wouldn't hold.

  • I love those colors.

  • thanks for sharing and its really easy

  • Oh, what a helpful video! This past christmas I tried to make bows like that on my own but I didn't know how so I failed miserably. The presents sort of looked nice, but if you moved them they...fell apart. Everyone appreciated the effort, but now with the help of this video I might actually be able to succeed at bow making the next time I need to wrap presents.

  • (Professional Gift Wrapper here) - again- she is spot on with how the pros do it. The twist is so that not only are you setting the loop into the bow, but also that you are turning the ribbon the right side up for the other side. And remember the loop is bent over in a DOWNWARD direction with the proper side of the ribbon UP.

The V cut is correct (Rebecca, you get an A+).

Always loved wrapping - and then got a job doing it. (My favorite_ wrapping and watching It's a Wonderful Life :D )

  • BUCK SENT ME! =)

  • I love it :D I'm definetly going to try that :D

  • this looks really difficult

  • so pretty :D

  • That's great! Isn't that similar to how they tie Tiffany Jewelry boxes when you get them wrapped at the store?

  • @blake6291 Yes, very similar... at least as far as I can tell... haven't had a little blue box in a while :-) RR

  • oh my god that dog is adorable and your home is beautiful, i really want it to be christmas again so i can show off my new skills

  • thats so pretty! and even cutting the ribbon to a point, thats such a good idea!

  • Michael Buckly sent me!

  • @jilijub I agree! I struggled to see what she was doing!

  • @Trurodg923 and @jilijub I agree and I apologize for the quality of this video. It was actually the very first video I made. 3 years and 99 videos later, I have improved with high-end equipment, professional lighting, cordless mic's, close-up cut-ins and have a professional video editor who makes sure everything is seen and heard properly. I'll probably make a new updated version of this next year but I hope you were able to get something from this one for now. Thanks for watching/commenting! RR

  • @Hey robesondesign I get the fact that this is an older video but I disagree with the other commenters. I have watched this video several times and I am happy to say, I got it. I now consider myself a pretty good gift wrapper (for a guy) and I learned it from you. Ya, your video quality has changed drastically since you first started but I kinda like the "vintage" style of this old video. Ha! I' pretty good at Christmas decorating now too Thanks robesondesign!

  • @robesondesign Yes, i have seen the other videos and they are great videos! Keep up the good work and thank you for posting up such great videos! I tried wrapping a box last night and it came out pretty good. It was a little difficult being as though the box weighed almost 20 lbs but all in all it still looks great under my tree. thank again for the tip. I was a difficult to see but not difficult to understand after a few times of viewing it. Happy Holidays!!!! Btw, I LOVE that fireplace!

  • @Trurodg923 LOL.. maybe thats a good thing... more views! LOL... I'm glad you could glean the concept from this video and put it into practice anyway.. yay!

FYI, I just checked my analytics and my Christmas videos have been viewed by 574,000 people in the past 30 days! Not bad for an Interior Design channel ;-).

Thanks for the support and Merry Christmas to you! RR

  • it just seems like such a waste to me.. doing all that just so someone can rip it apart, and then it all gets tossed in the garbage. i can't help but think of all the ribbons that are currently populating the world's landfills.. =[

  • Buck sent me :)

  • its the inside that counts isnt it... )):

  • This is fantastic I'm a bit of a neat freak and I like to have everything perfect putting bows on presents though has always just been something that frustrates me! :L My sisters birthday is coming up soon I think I'm going to use this exact technique :L Thank you very much :)

  • OMG buck was right you are a bow god!

  • OK so, I watched the wrapping one and learned how to "do it right" but question, do you think people would think I am GAY if I top it off with one of your fancy "BOWS" ??

Maybe it could improve my image with the "ladies: ... worth a try .LOL

  • OMG... This was so helpful. I need to know this stuff all year long. I give gifts and always feel like I could make the presentation so much better! I am going to work on my "finger capability" skills lol. Thanks Rebecca. Love ALL YOUR VIDEOS!

  • lovely house. love the wrapping paper it self too

  • Oh my that's lovely!!! I should try it out. :)

  • wow thanks a lot! nice house!

  • Wow, you have a gorgeous house.

  • You are so wonderful:) My boyfriends dad worked for a ribbon place and his family had access to any kind of gift wrapping/bows they could ever want. His mom always wraps every gift so beautifully and perfectly! All of the presents look so pretty under their tree! Even the most simple thing such as a box of candy wrapped like this can make it seem like something even better:)

  • I am going to try to make this bow and wrap my gifts as amazing so yours this year, hopefully it works!!Thanks for the videos, love them all!!!

  • Wow! love it I'm going to try that to make bows for my xmas tree. Thankyou!

  • omgsh i cant wait to buy all sorts of wired ribbon to do this:) thanks

  • Thanks for postinh this!!! it was helpful!!! more!!! lol

  • "urban mom"? pardon us...

  • @laurieebabyy Thats Great! By That I'm taking it, you tried it and it looked Absolutely Beautiful??? Right? I hope you have fun this year wrapping all your Christmas gifts... It really is fun to arrive with beautifully wrapped gifts... People will know you put a lot of love not only in the gift, but in the giving!

  • I want to do more unique 8D ... like ...

I only see ...... unique style of TYING a bow ...

but not a unique way to wrap a gift~ :((

  • i would not want to open a gift wrapped like that...just would stare at it....sooo beautiful

  • Ohh @Boms501, You'd get over that soon.. You'd want to know what's inside :-) Thank you though, very nice compliment! RR

  • Super!

  • @taninglet Thank you... Good luck with it. Let me know if you are able to create some beautiful packages this Christmas Season :-) RR

  • yep! got this! thanks for the message... will check in a while...

  • Rebecca, I really enjoy your videos and especially your room designs. Do you do interior design in other places than California?

  • Hi uservirgo,

Thank you for the nice compliment. Yes, we do design work across the country. It's a little more challenging than local projects because of the way we end with an install. It's still a lot of fun and our valued clients are always delighted with their beautifully remodeled homes. I am uploading a new video on Thursday that you will love!! It's another home makeover transformation. Absolutely AMAZING!

Stop by later this week to check it out,

    RR

  • Another Fabulous Video-Quick question-Is there any place to order on-line that discounts paper and ribbon?

  • great video,u educated me alot 5***** well done

  • Unbelievable! No wonder my bows and wrappings never came out correctly. I was missing a couple very simple pointers! I wasn't twisting when I should have been. And I wasn't cutting from the centers. Holy moley!

Thanks for showing us how to do this properly!

  • lol i tryed that so many times in the bast but couldn't some people have the gift for it but i don't :) great video that was so pretty

  • @123451234512345

    Yes, to answer your question, some people may be more inclined (or gifted) in craft type projects. I applaud you for trying. You will get better with practice but as you said, it might just not be your thing :-{

Doesn't mean you don't have an appreciation for beautiful things. You just might be someone who needs to hire someone to do it for you. Kind of like my inability to spell!

Thank God for spell check, although thats not always full proof either.

    Thanks for commenting

    RR

  • As always, I enjoy your videos. I have not been doing the "twist" ! Thanks for the tip!

    Sherry Parker Daniel

  • @DanielDesignSAV

Thank you so much. I hope the "twist" suggestion was helpful for you this Christmas as you wrapped your gifts.

Best to you in the coming new year!

    RR

  • beautiful!

  • Beautifully. Thank you for a very beautiful show.

  • @Dubercik2

Your welcome. I hope you get lots of practice this Holiday season!

Thanks for watching and leaving your nice comment.

    RR

  • Beautiful results, however I would like to see this demonstration without so many edits in which the camera was stopped and restarted... do it from beginning to end as you would do it for real. Additionally some close ups of the process would be very helpful.

  • @CaRose

    Your comments are very helpful.

The choppy editing was done purposely by my 24 your old son who introduced me to youtube. It was his opinion, this style of video was hip and current. He also recommended the video be as short as possible to keep the younger audiences attention span. Since uploading this, my first video, I have recognized the need for close-ups when creating "how to" videos. All this to say, I appreciate your constructive criticism and will consider them in the future.

    RR

  • beautiful u make it look so easy thanks

  • Hi Rebbeca, This is so nice. WoW !! A very nice presentation my friend.

    Bravo *****

    And thanks a lot.

    Catherine ♥

  • Yes that was beautiful. But I think it is harder than she made it look.

    Bev

  • @124bjw

    LOL,

True, it looks easier than it is. When I learned this technique years ago, I really struggled with the finger coordination.

Today, I can do it with out even looking . . . with my hands tied behind my back . . . as it were LOL

    Practice makes it perfect.

Thanks for watching and leaving your comment. I appreciate it!

    RR

  • You make some gorgeous packages! I bet you can also do some very nice floral bouquets?

  • nice!

  • Very nice!

  • Oh, my God. When it comes to " How to make a bow " I'm lost. One reason I buy the ready made ones. After wathching your wonderful video I will give it a shot.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  • Can we all say "BEAUTIFUL"!!! I absolutely loved it, very fast and yet simple but elegant!! l can just imagine your christmas tree and the way you decorate your home for the holidays!! Must be very extravagant looking...thank you for sharing and God bless!!

    Happy holidays...

  • Thank you maloni,

I do tend to get very "in to it" for my Christmas decorating. This year however, I have decided to go simple (by my standards anyway :-) My Tree is flocked and decorated in white, clear and soft silver/gold. I used hundreds of ice cycles and snow flakes. It looks like a winter frost has covered my tree. Additionally, I am using nothing but white wrapping paper with sparkly hand made bows on each gift.

I like the simplicity this year.

Best wishes to you this Christmas,

    RR

  • Great! do you have one on how to decorate a tree? I would think your Christmas tree is really beautiful. Do you do a real tree or artificial? I hate the fake ones. Anyway, I'm betting yours is beautiful either way.

Hey, my fingers are too big to do this bow thing but I get the concept.

    Thanks robesondesign. 5*****

  • while I absolutely LOVE your bow and the package turned our beautifully, the camera angle is a little off for us novices to really get a close look. I will keep watching to hopefully catch it all. Thanks anyways

  • Daywater, you are absolutely right. This was the first video I ever made. Since then, I have gotten better at knowing what the viewer needs to see up close. Sorry it's not as clear as it should have been. By the time I filmed "how to sew on a button", I was much better with the close ups ;-)

    Thanks for the helpful feedback!

    Have a Merry Christmas,

    RR

  • the bow is awesome

  • Thank you 4countrygal4, Good idea to do it along with the video! That should lock it in your mind better than trying to remember later. Do your friends a favor and send this video to them in an email. People love to know how but don't know where to find the "Good " videos. They will appreciate you thinking of them!

    Happy Wrapping!

    RR

  • I love the fact that your son was thoughtful enough to take the time to look on youtube to make a bow for you! Darling!

  • You are so right!

The fact that my son wanted to make a bow for his christmas gifts was so sweet. Then to know that he found YouTube to be the place where he could type in any subject and wahla! there would be a real person showing him just how to do it. It was a light bulb moment for me.

Shortly there after I created this channel and 11 months later more than 60,000 people have tuned in to learn not only bow making but button sewing, table setting and interior decorating from me. Thanks son!

  • LOVE!

  • Wow... thank you SO much! I love wrapping presents, but I've never been able to find a good tutorial on bow-making. I'd end up throwing an ugly store-bought bow on my package and ruining the whole look of it. I can't wait to try your tutorial out, but I can tell that it is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  • You are so welcome Tink4574. Actually, you can thank my son! Last Christmas my 25 year old son arrived with beautifully wrapped gifts. I was curious who wrapped them. He reported he had watched a YouTube video on how to wrap a present. I was appalled, another woman teaching my son on a subject I considered myself to be an expert. Within 48 hours, I shot this clip and joined the YouTube community. 10 months later I have 12 videos up and 42,000 channel views, all because of a bow!

    Best to you RR

  • Thank you so much for this video!

  • You bet,

hope it helps as the holidays approach,

    RR

  • wow, youtube made me jump through hoops to leave this comment but I wanted to say, the lady at the end of the video seemed so happy to get such gorgeous gift. I am going to try to do that from no on.

Thanks for the kick in the butt to do it right!

  • You're good at this too!

  • woah.... it really duz make the gift look more expensive. great idea

  • PRESENTATION! Once again I bow to you. I wouldn't want to open the gift....it looks so lovley. Thanks for sharing your secrects with us.

  • This is great! I always wondered how to make a beautiful bow. Thank you Rebecca!!

  • WOW again. Your wrapping skills blew me out of the water, and now the bow. Twisting is the key, i will remember that always now. You are so AMAZING.

  • That was really good. I'm going to try to make one of those bows! Is that your house in the background? It is beautiful! I love how warm it looks with the fireplace and stockings. Definitely a Christmas video. Thanks, do more.

  • Thank you. yes this was shot in my home 2 days before Christmas. I plan on doing more. ... I see that you have subscribed to my channel, this well alert you to any new videos as they are added. BTW, if you have any suggestions of topics you would like to see me cover, feel free to make suggestions

  • Awesome! I have always wanted to know how to do this-thank you for sharing!

  • You're simply amazing!!!
