Stating that this vehicle does to the Nissan Patrol, what the Lexus LX does to a Toyota Land Cruiser, is a better comparison than stating this is a Lexus rip-off!!
It's not a lexus rip-off, if anything it would be a Patrol rip-off, as the infinity is the luxurious brand for Nissans!! The previous version was inspired by the armada, as you could probably tell by it's rugged albeit squared looks, sporting the same sideways angled exhaust. For this new 2011 model the QX team took to the 2010 Nissan Patrol design, same rounder look, and more importantly sporting the same side vents on the front wings.
the 2010 exterior was the worlds best looking suv the new is good but no where nearly as good as the old exterior but interior is just phonomenal in the 2011

When iit all shakes out over the next year, this vehicle will be, by far, #1 in the luxury SUV category. For those of you on the fence - looks are more impressive in person, driving it is an experience you'll not get in any other. Go classy with white exterior and dark interior :-)
I have an Infiniti QX56 and it has been the biggest piece of crap! We have spent several thousand in repairs strictly on computer issues. All within one year, twice within 6 months! We will never buy another Infiniti/Nissan product ever again! Trading it in this week and I can't be happier about it! Looks and comfort don't mean crap, if the thing never runs right!

This new QX based on the foreign market Nissan Patrol should be a big improvement over the previous QX based on the Nissan Armada.
That interior is very opulent and the exterior looks unique. The new model's price range seems to be creeping closer to the Land Rover Range Rovers now! I'm not sure if I could justify a QX56 when a Range is just a few thousand dollars more...
@gedaman From what Ive seen though, the safety features of the QX are better than those in the Range Rover ex. lane departure warning which can also keep you in your lane. a Feature RR does not have... Also I like having the option of bringing four adults as well as a couple of kids along. (Damn the LR4).
@rayamanelly They're both nice vehicles, but the Range is in a whole other category in my opinion. How often are you going to need 8 passenger seating anyway? I do think it is better than the Lexus LX 570 though...
@gedaman I will need to carry 7 people not 8 more often then a gent will need to climb a sheer rock cliff only to replace the airbags after 60,000 miles as on a Range Rover...I have a Durango( 5 passenger) at the moment and anytime I see family down home, I hate the fact that we have to take to cars to go anywhere.
This new 2011 QX56 is a rebadged Nissan Patrol which is what Nissan sells in other markets such as Japan, Australia and the Middle East. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Nissan Armada any more and is now built in Japan instead of Canton, Mississippi like the 1st gen. QX56.
well,,I drive a 05' QX with 0 problems. Just got back from Atlanta and the drive from Atlanta to Houston was spectacular. It handled that drive and asked me for more. And I look good driving around Atlanta with a Texas licence plate. Same for New Orleans. Next road trip..Florida...Yall look for me in Florida. I'll be the one in the white QX 56 with Texas plates.

The Infiniti QX will not be called a Nissan in another country, the Nissan version of the QX well debut across the world, it is called the Nissan Patrol but it is a similar design but it is not an exact version of theQX it will be like the Armada compared tthe Qx here in the US. Infiniti has sepearted the QX from the nissan division and has made its own design belonging to Infiniti across the world, Europe will have the infiniti QX debut in 2012 and the Nissan Patrol will also debut in Europe.

Some dealers will begin selling the new QX in the first weeks of June,others will try to keep selling the current 2010 QX till they are out of stock and then they will begin selling the newley redeisgned 2011 QX in July.

Looks like a beluga whale/airbus thing to me. Overall a nice improvement over the previous generation which was hideous in terms of design/style. I am sure this vehicle is so much worth the money. 400+ hp, lots of gadgetry and tech, 208+ inches in length (bigger than escalade and toyota land cruiser/lexus lx) better gas mileage than both and available 4wd system. If you can get past the looks, you'll know this vehicle is the "Star" in the segment it competes. Well done Nissan/Infiniti.

I thought everyones favorite whale was the Baluga?? Why are there so many negative comments on the 2011 Infintiti QX56, I see everything I would need and want out of the 2011 QX56,"I see luxury, i see performance, i see everything good i dont see in a M-benz GL, ML, Audi Q7, Lexus LX, GX etc etc."The QX doesnt substitute for any other car,its simply the best in this segement all around, 400HP, more cargo space and towing capacity, extreme luxury & refinement, high end technonolgy? This new QX based on the foreign market Nissan Patrol should be a big improvement over the previous QX based on the Nissan Armada.
That interior is very opulent and the exterior looks unique. The new model's price range seems to be creeping closer to the Land Rover Range Rovers now! I'm not sure if I could justify a QX56 when a Range is just a few thousand dollars more...

@gedaman From what Ive seen though, the safety features of the QX are better than those in the Range Rover ex. lane departure warning which can also keep you in your lane. a Feature RR does not have... Also I like having the option of bringing four adults as well as a couple of kids along. (Damn the LR4).

@gedaman I will need to carry 7 people not 8 more often then a gent will need to climb a sheer rock cliff only to replace the airbags after 60,000 miles as on a Range Rover...I have a Durango( 5 passenger) at the moment and anytime I see family down home, I hate the fact that we have to take to cars to go anywhere.

This new 2011 QX56 is a rebadged Nissan Patrol which is what Nissan sells in other markets such as Japan, Australia and the Middle East. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Nissan Armada any more and is now built in Japan instead of Canton, Mississippi like the 1st gen. QX56.

well,,I drive a 05' QX with 0 problems. Just got back from Atlanta and the drive from Atlanta to Houston was spectacular. It handled that drive and asked me for more. And I look good driving around Atlanta with a Texas licence plate. Same for New Orleans. Next road trip..Florida...Yall look for me in Florida. I'll be the one in the white QX 56 with Texas plates.

Junk! I had to get rid of my 2008 QX because of the constant transmission issues.
Prior to that I had a 2004 I35(had it until 2008) Great car that is why I bought the QX in 2008.
I will not buy another Infiniti again. I will buy a Lexus first. Maybe the RX?

It looks like, the Lexus LX from the rear and, looks like, the FX from the front. By the way the grille look..., It's going to look really imposing from the front, in real sight of it! ;-) Nice engine hp. increase but, it looks like, that engine is crammed in there pretty tight! It's no room to work in there! Overall..., I'd say, it's a Sexy looking SUV.! ;-)

The Infiniti QX will not be called a Nissan in another country, the Nissan version of the QX well debut across the world, it is called the Nissan Patrol but it is a similar design but it is not an exact version of theQX it will be like the Armada compared tthe Qx here in the US. Infiniti has sepearted the QX from the nissan division and has made its own design belonging to Infiniti across the world, Europe will have the infiniti QX debut in 2012 and the Nissan Patrol will also debut in Europe.

Some dealers will begin selling the new QX in the first weeks of June,others will try to keep selling the current 2010 QX till they are out of stock and then they will begin selling the newley redeisgned 2011 QX in July.

Looks like a beluga whale/airbus thing to me. Overall a nice improvement over the previous generation which was hideous in terms of design/style. I am sure this vehicle is so much worth the money. 400+ hp, lots of gadgetry and tech, 208+ inches in length (bigger than escalade and toyota land cruiser/lexus lx) better gas mileage than both and available 4wd system. If you can get past the looks, you'll know this vehicle is the "Star" in the segment it competes. Well done Nissan/Infiniti.
