Существует больше, этот роман, чем кажется на первый взгляд. Александр Солженицын пишет на уровне, что и Толстой. Мне нечего критиковать.Книга представляет собой шедевр.Фильм верен книге.Лагерь существует в замороженной пустыне. Иван Денисович является скромным и стоическое. Он выживших, кто научился адаптироваться и даже ценить быть в этом лагере. Для него это лучше, чем быть с убийцами.

The ice chopping ordeal is therefore similar to what drill sergeants used to do with their men just to piss them off; move a pile of sand from here to there and back again. If you were doing it for fitness that would be ok, but when you're starving, it's only punishment for no reason.

Zeks never wore socks. Instead, what they wore were called foot clothes. They also had to sleep on solid boards, not mattresses. Their entire existence was dehumanizing & painful. 10 year sentences were the norm, but 10 extra years were quite common. Look at the landscape; it is all white. There were plenty of guards, but where would one go if given the chance to escape?
