ime in my 50s and i think that at my age i must have experianced both ends of the music scale i grew up with super bands pink floyd, beatles, who, hendrix, phill lynot etc ,now what is there ? nothing and i mean nothing ,
wonderful version no doubt; but let's face it, the original with Frankie Miller is superior. The beautiful peaks and valleys of Gary Moore's fills, the crisp and sharp
My god how good is this,, lizzy fans,, dont you agree Gary could just slip things in,, you know impravise,, we had the best band ever eh,,,, again thanks blacksab,, respect mate
I think gary moore is amazing. He makes that guitar sound like the sax in this song....i think the saxaphone is such a sexy instrument. His music moves me for sure
Brilliant....Gary's the best guitarist in my book. Why does the cover above though have what looks like John Sykes picture on it? Have heard several versions over the years that have featured him playing this song rather than Gary M. Still damn good though......Thanks........
@chrisderrick57 well i agree with you about the picture, looks like Sykes, but in my personal opinnion, the live version featuring Sykes in 83, it is the best version I have ever heard, even though Gary wrote the music, Sykes is amazing playing that version in 83. my favorite
You're both right, but it was also on the double vinyl single of Out in the Fields. Military Man was the b-side; Still in Love with You '85 and Stop Messing Around (live in '84, Ireland) made up the second disc. This version of SiLwY surpasses all versions for emotion, and Military Man added more still. It's hard to describe how awful Phil's death was, just a few months after this was in the charts. RiP.
Well then I'm just wrong again...lol. No really, thanks for the information. It saves me the research...I was in diapers in 1985, so it helps to have people around that might have seen/purchased these items at the time of release.
I think this was released. I've got it. I'm 99% sure it was on the 12 inch "out in the fields" Unfortunately my record collection is in the loft and I can't get them to look.
Brilliant

tonality...and that was recorded in 1974.

Moore has the greatest sound. He can go any direction. That raw Marshall or break your heart with that tender shit.
I've seen all the great ones. He ranks right up there any way you look at it.

Hey John Sykes. This is the way to play the song.

Because the track came off that particular disc as pictured. It's part of a 4 disc set.
