  • @mikethebeast1012 everyone keeps misreading that fucking comment. youtube is dumb. it was directed @ metalhead2016, he had posted a video of him racing an "si" that was clearly an r18, blue gauges, LX rims and all. he removed it after getting shit for it non-stop in the comments. it's obviously an si in this video though, no surprise it got left in the dust. can't do much without factory boost :(

  • Stock on stock is definitely drivers race.... even if your pussyfooting a DSG. No offense. It's all about shift times, not about actually driving your car anymore. I appreciate the technology thats involved with these automated transmissions, but it's extremely pathetic.

  • F1 cars use a much stronger form of DSG so to talk shit on DSGs is stupid, its everything a manual wishes it could be, sorry it'll be 10+ yrs before honda makes something like it but its fact

  • true but in that case your LSD, traction control are also to blame for the same shit. its not that im lazy that i have one, it allows me to do other things while im driving and when i want flip it into manual mode and do everything a manual can. mostly its a day to day convenience thing seeing as how its my daily driver. if all you are looking for is to feel 1 with your car than get an 80s air cooled Porsche, otherwise you are nowhere close

  • anyone can put paddle shifters on an automatic trany (and almost everyone has), to put the DSG in the automatic group is to prove your ignorance about cars, the only company to have anything like it is Ferrari and the VW DSG is still faster. i wish my DSG was recalled, do some research the recall was a sensor, which was replaced free of charge AND extended power-train warranty up to 10yr/100,000mi i wish i got that, no other company handles recals like that by giving you a bonus.

  • to continue what tranys are you speaking of i have owned 3 VW all from different time periods and never had any problems or read any except the DSG recall (again i wish mine had). as far as the old porsches, before you were talking about the "driving experience" not the "shifting experience" in this case 2 feel 1 with your car you cant be in anything modern the only time ive ever felt this was in an old air cooled porsche a car you only drive @ the track because on roads it would beat you 2 hell

  • well the DSG you drove must have been beat on because it is not rough at all, i have never read a single REPUTABLE review that says anything about rough driving or slow down shift. actually its nice because when cruising in D some asshole showing off pulls up next to you just put your foot down and the DSG handles everything, true IM not doing as much work but ive said it before unless youre driving an air cooled porshce dont even start to talk about the great "driving experience"

  • i meant what i said, it does take over where my admitably sub-par shifting skills would fail me, however thats how i prefer it, the civic that won that race i highly doubt was anywhere near stock, and im willing to bet race car drivers will agree that new cars come nowhere near the old days of racing.

  • I'll end the debate with this: Them Civic's were modified, of course. Just like every other car there. And that event included a lot of different manufacturers... including VW. The old days were the best, no strict regulations and the cars were not advanced, it was a blast to watch. But driving them was not. The new cars go faster, turn harder, and drive nicer. Everything a racer would want!

  • i drive an 06 GTI and i absolutely love it, no other car has the mix of quality build, speed, and fuel economy that it does, i drove an Si, ms3, and turbo baltSS. they were all cheap feeling, and GTI had the best fuel economy

  • you mean like lambos with dsg and porsches with dsg and paddles your saying that those are easy to drive cause there autos. your and idiot. I love my dsg gti. I autocross, I leave it in sport mode and that leaves me with both hands on the wheel i lap better then some z06, vipers, and nsx's at the track. but then again i also have 2500 bucks in suspension upgrades

  • How is GIACs DSG flash? I heard that its really harsh when driving, I cant say from experience though. I also heard that it makes DSG hard engage when switching at low gears

  • its nice and aggresive when in sport mode.but when in D mode it tends to lag and stutter a bit. no worries, i always drive in manual mode ;)

  • si vs gti really depends on the driver.. both cars are not that fast its fun to drive cars. BUT.. i believe in this vid.. GTi is way more modded than the Si.. stock to stock it really depends on the driver..

  • I agree 100% going in we both knew i had an advantage. we both did it in good fun. stock vs stock it be really close, but i might give the advantage to the gti if its dsg. theirs a neat video about dsg vs. manual. its got that japanese drift king or whatever. i guess hes one of the fastes shifters in the world. check it out!

  • @mreyes14404 That video blows cock. The only reason he lost was because he can't launch a FWD car for shit. Had they eliminated the potential of driver error by doing a roll race instead of a dig race...I can guarantee you that the results would have been dead even between DSG and standard.

  • You do realize that the stock GTI has 200hp@5500RPM/207 lbs of tourque @1800RPM vs. Civic with 190 HP @ 7200RPM and a sad 140 lbs of torque.

  • the GTIs have virtually NO turbo lag, torque is available from 1800rpm up

  • torque is only good for low end. u arent going anywhere without hp. and the civic has 197 hp @7200RPM. its peak torque doesnt hit till vtec which is why its good from a roll. from a dig the torque gives the gti an advantage tho. both very fine cars. i just prefer the n/a of the SI as oppose to a turbo car making 200hp.

  • ur numbers are kind of off the SI gets 200hp@8000rpms vtech kicks in at 6000 u can redline to 8500 not sure if u get anything extra but i doubt it

  • no its not. i own an 06 civic SI. it has 197 hp and its peak torque is 139ft/lbs (130 to the wheels) its torque peak is during vtec (5800 rpms to redline which is 8500) vtec is where this car makes all its power and it will pull hard until the redline, the high rpms is what makes the car quicker than what its numbers say.

  • the new si's dont have kpro. and the si with 197 hp with 141 tq and the gti with 200 hp and 207 tq not really even even if the si was moded then again its all on the driver.
