  • December 1979,coming up to Xmas i do remember this !

  • Just what REAL Xmas songs are about.

  • Jingle bells snooty bells lol.

  • ... Brian Downey, Scott Gorham ...

  • Wishing all my friends a jingling merry Christmas, and always remember Phil Lynott's spirit is always with us.

  • Who gives a damn where they are from, just listen to the music you bunch of racists, who gives a shit, where they are from it's christmas lets enjoy it.

  • @daintytaxi

    Well said

  • @kegzasaurus If you're going to be pedantic at least get your facts right. Excluding their very early days with Eric Bell, Thin Lizzy were pretty much always 50% Irish, 25% American and 25% British - the British component being either Northern Irish (Gary Moore), Scottish (Brian Robertson, Midge Ure) or English (Snowy White, John Sykes). So stick those 24 thumbs up your paddy arse.

  • @lukemusic67 People get way too stupid about this. According to some of these jokers, is AC/DC not Aussie b/c most of the band members hail from Scotland? Is Tony Iommi not one of the the greatest British guitarists ever, because his parents are ethnically Italian? How about Brian Johnson? Is he not Scottish because his mom's Italian?

  • @decristo1021 - AC/DC renounced their aussie status as the oz government done everything to stop their style of music, which was encouraged in uk. If the founding members say the band is scottish i reckon it's their decision, same ges for TL - Irish band, always will be no matter how the line up changes!

  • @decristo1021

Brian johnson is actually english as he was born near newcastle

  • @lukemusic67 - you forgot brazilian then you dumbass. Thin Lizzy are an Irish band same as Sex Pistols are british, end of, stop being a douchebag - HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

  • @cisco9x What? Thin Lizzy and The Sex Pistols? Thin Lizzy were and are more Irish than The Dubliners and the Sex Pistols were a massively anti British band.

  • Thin Lizzy were respected among the punk community which is quite something as punks despised & rebelled against most rock bands. That's how powerful the mighty Thin Lizzy were, are and always will be. Thin Lizzy until I die!

  • hi i think that is a yamaha b4 bass is similar to precision ....

  • phil clearly isn't using a fender precision bass, does anyone know bass he is using???

  • @hailknopfler2 Yeah he is..

  • I had never even heard of this til today, and I love both Lizzy and the Pistols. This just further confirms my belief that the whole "punk" thing was never anything other than primitive rock at first. I love Paul and Steve and think the Professional's album is awesome. Same with Paul and Steve's playing on Johnny Thunders' So Alone sol album, which as we all know featured Phil and Steve Marriot on one tune.

  • @decristo1021 Do you know where rock came from?

  • What fun!

  • Much better quality than my old Betamax copy! Such a great track; it's just good rockin' fun. The cover by the Pretty Maids is great too - they play it in the same vein; no jazzing it up or embellishing it, just played as a good rockin' cover.

  • Here all I'm saying is my family have lived in dublin forever, Phill considered himself a dubliner and my aunty looked after his kids.

  • This makes me wanna celebrate christmas :)

  • I never forgett ~~ ''2 from our band comes from irland, me self and the drummer'' XD

    Rip phil & Gary Moore

  • @kegzasaurus what were they southern ireland?

  • i <3 it when the irish get defensive ...but all in all they are are right thin lizzy is irish and therefore will always = awsome ( and im welsh/irish ) \m/

  • 3 founding members were all Irishmen you bunch of idiots. Their songs were based on ancient Irish legends and growing up in Ireland. Typical of brits to claim what they like about Ireland as theirs! Go and fuck yourselves, thats my concluding statement.

  • @kegzasaurus so true my man a proper Irish band , i now eric`s got is own stuff now and brian still does the lizzy stuff, Phil my friend is sadly missed when i was 14 and i heard these guys i thought these fuckers are going places and when gary joined lets do it. Anybody into rock will tell you the finest rock band to come out of Ireland.

  • @millbrook79 How?

  • Oh great tune by the way, Lizzy/Pistols merge!

  • Nobody and I MEAN NOBODY considers Phillo to be anything other than Irish, something he proudly pointed out many many times on stage.

"Anyone have any Irish in them?"

"any of the girls like some more!!???"

  • @kegzasaurus

    Lynott = English

    Robertson = Scottish

    Gorham = American

    Downey = Irish

    Thin Lizzy = Multicultural PMSL

  • @stratabacca thin lizzy are Irish

  • @stratabacca he may have been born in england, but Lynott was as Irish as it gets man.

  • @stratabacca Phil Lynott was not English! Why dont ye read up on him. He was born there only because Ireland was a strict Catholic country and his mother was pregnant and un married. Dont insult the man!

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

  • @kegzasaurus Phil Lynott Born in West Bromwich..Just like Robert Plant,Julie Walters,Frank Skinner and Judas Priest ..Boing Boing! :-)

  • thin lizzy = philo the dub, downy the dub, bell the northy.

  • Love the advance stage lightning ;-)

  • British, Irish...Lizzy were an international phenomenon! (Though I have always regarded Lizzy as Irish, and I am a proud Englishman). God Rest Phil, and God bless you all at Christmas! Lets all always enjoy the talent of this remarkable bass player.

  • And Scott Gorham!

  • And Scott Gorham

  • Lynott was born in Hallam Hospital (now Sandwell General Hospital) in West Bromwich (then in Staffordshire), England, and christened at St. Edwards Church in Selly Park, Birmingham.

  • @excrutiated Raised in Crumlin, and always considered himself IRISH. Therefore, Thin Lizzy = Irish.

  • @NineTails20

just saying whats on his birth certificate.

  • @excrutiated Hey just coz ur born in a stable don't make u a horse...ask that Jesus Dude !!! :-p Everybody STFU n Have a Happy Fkn Xmas!!!

  • actually phil lynott was born in west bromwich - england

  • @nezbleu ,Though he called himself a Dub and and Irishman, which he was, through and through,,

    Care to respect his wishes?

  • actually phil lynott was born in west bromwich -england!!

  • @kegzasaurus You forgot the legend part..Merry Christmas to everyone that watches this...

  • @kegzasaurus except Brian Robertson who was Scottish , Snowy White who was English as was John Sykes and Darren Wharton and not forgetting Scott Gorman who was American. Otherwise they were an Irish band.

  • @45rpmSINGLES and any other doubters - "Thin Lizzy are an Irish hard rock band who formed in Dublin, Ireland, in 1969. The two founding members, drummer Brian Downey and bass guitarist/vocalist Phil Lynott met ..."

From Wikipedia. I was just clearing up a little error and not intended to offend anyone. If I had said 'best of Irish' I am quite sure you would have retaliated even though I could claim Johnny Rotten was Irish, blah, blah, blah...

  • @kegzasaurus And don't forget, Eric Bell was Irish too...

  • @legindyoll - Yes sir, like I say, not starting a political discussion, just clearing up a little error. Both great bands regardless. Happy Christmas all.

  • @kegzasaurus YEAH! :))

  • I bought this on 7" vinyl way back then. The B-Side had phil saying "We always ask for cash at parties" and the song was the A-side backwards LOL!

  • @kegzasaurus get a life!!

  • Poor Paul, he got to play on the pink drums XD

  • @kegzasaurus with a yank and a scot making up 50% of the classic line up !

  • @thestool Do a bit of research pal.

  • Bubble machine FTW.

  • Back when legends made Christmas records & before the X Factor tosh took over!!

  • wow, theres finally a christmas song i can tollerate... who'd a thunk

  • There's something not quite right about this.

  • @xArmagideonTime Yeah why should they have fun and let their hair down and be a bit silly. Really punk if you think about it, nobody expected this

  • @28if Haha dont get me wrong, it's fun and I like it, just rather unexpected, as you say!

  • Dont forget Brian Downey on the other drum kit!!

  • poor Cookie...

    Pink drums!

  • awesome drum orgasmic <.<!

  • AND SCOTT GORHAM HIM WITH THE HAIR

  • This is cool I wish more hardrock/meatal and punk bands would collaberated . Its all rock and roll

  • @die2no Thank you, so many people don't understand that.

  • This is an awesome song. What's wrong with having a little fun with a classic? LOVE Thin Lizzy and the Sex Pistols both!! After all, not every band is the Beatles.

  • lol. it's playback xD

  • @wormey93 One Irish man does not make an Irish band.

  • @bioux101 No but the band bein formed in Ireland as a three piece with three Irish members does. There were more than one Irishman anyway.

  • As big a fan as I am of Thin Lizzy, I am very happy never to hear this again.

    Ever.

  • Merry Christmas all:-)

  • brian downey too

  • Merry Christmas Philo - God bless you pal

  • I think I just threw up

  • If you hate it so much than why are you watching it?

  • Beacuse I just clicked on it to see if it was really true.

  • Why are we watching a Christmas video in Sept? I'm watching for the musicianship of Thin Lizzy and of Cook and Jones but why are you watching this way before Christmas?

  • Phil defo gets u in the spirit, what a legend

  • Awesome! I love Phil!

  • steve looks lost and bored and paul is just w/e with this shit hahaha

  • the description for the video doesn't mention Scott Gorham

  • or Brian Downey

  • Kind of... kitsch... sort of...

But I guess you can get pretty drunk listening to it... Hiigck! Anyway, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  • Phil was a gent when sober, but a twat when wrecked, just ask Pete Townsend, but he is sadly missed, especially at this time of the year

  • backsreett girls..!`?i have done some serious party party with bjørn muller.great guy!and.,of course fro fredrikstad.:)but phils voice and tight riff makes this song better than backstrees version.but of course.,backsreet plays hardcore boogie,so this version is another story.
