Oh man. This video makes me want a screen doubler/flicker fixer so i can get a proper display for my amiga. Cranking my neck when i have it hooked up to the only tv that displays Protracker sucks :(
Damn. The Amiga owns in music creativity. How did the Atari ST stack against this? Just imagine the PPC architecture evolved to 2009 levels. THis will kill all MAC G series PC's!!
The Amiga was EPIC, and the PC is basically using the HEART of Amiga Technology, check out the PC Demo Scene, like WOW, amiga has it's god given right to a place of Awsomeness though!
@GlockNinja Apple almost went bankrupt too, but then Steve Jobs called his buffy Bill Gates and asked for a few million extra cash. Instead of going bankrupt in 60 days they gained an extra year of life so Jobs could clean-up the mess and save the company
I've been using Impulse Tracker a long ass time but could never get into Fasttracker or the clones. I love the way Milkytracker can be configured and how it looks - i only wish someone would do the same for IT.
This MorphOS loads so long... My Workbench 2.1 does it in 4 seconds on Amiga 600 with Emtec extension card (68030/25; 4 mb fast ram) and I use Digibooster that allows me to edit 8 channels instead of 4. I cannot hear anything special in modules played on your configuration. Just like other protrackers played on my Amiga 600 before expanding(68000/7.14; 2 mb chip ram).
You're comparing apples with oranges - I have Protracker and Digibooster and many other trackers on my other OS3.9 installation. Digibooster can give 8 channels, but isn't very accurate at XM playback/saving. If you want a 100% FastTrackerII compatible tracker, it gets no better than MilkyTracker. This demonstration is more proof-of-concept than a claim to be better than anything... but you say you don't hear anything special about the 22 channel song? YouTube doesn't do justice but still... :/
As i said , got my A600 + ext.drive + 2 joystick's + exp.RAM + scart-adapter for about $4.5 , may sound unbelivable , but i got it from my school ^^ , mint condition not used for about 11 years , and they didn't know what it was , so i bought it =3 , best deal ever ^^. really swingin' modules you got there mate.
dopefish well done! I hope there was milkytracker in 1996! FT2 made me the tough decision of buying a P166MMX just to use those cool features. 16bit samples stereo sound. I used Octamed Soundtudio for MIDI and tracking but FT2 blew me away at that time. God damn! If theres was this at that time.
I had an A600 and tow A1200 and still have an A500, Cd32 and A4000 - 040/25Mhz, Cybervision, Scsi2 2gb HD and CD and 32MB Ram. Amiga, best computer ever!
My 7 MHz Amiga 500 can play MODs too, but it seems you missed the point.
Milky requires a high amount of power to run, and it's designed for modern PCs. IIRC the author recommends a G4 1GHz PPC minimum. The fact that it runs *at all* usably on my Amiga's 233MHz PPC accelerator card under a different OS for which it was designed is very cool.
It's not the fact that MODs play that's impressive, its the fact that the program runs in spite of all the hurdles.
This isn't really a "classic" Amiga 4000 if you ripped out its classic 680x0 CPU and replaced it with a PowerPC
.
electrictroy2010 2 months ago
@electrictroy2010 The 68k is not ripped out at all. The PPC is added alongside it to act as a coprocessor.

Lucky bastard. I'd kill for any Amiga, let alone an A4000. :(
Shit's impossible to find over here, and when you do, it's ridiculously expensive.

shootangaems: ebay?
I got mine for $15
It's not that expensive :-)
nervmichnich 2 years ago
How in the hell did you manage to get an Amiga for $15, let alone on eBay?!
Even the ones that don't have an astronomical starting price or BIN are quickly driven to that level by the dozens of people bidding on them.
What'd you get? The A500s are generally the cheapest, but even those...
SHOOTANGAEMS 2 years ago
Yep, it's an A500.
However, I'm from germany and they're quite cheap here on ebay.
And I got the computer, crt, printer and some games and books for only $15 ^^
