  • Hey i just found your video and i thought i would leave a comment. when i was 3 i was told i had scolosis! And i dont remember but my curve was severe. when i was 7 i was told my curve was at 60 degrees. So i had t go through surgery. I was terrified! I had a rod put in my back and prior to my surgery i had a brace! but anyways my surgery i had a rod put in that didnt go well. They numbed my foot and b=part of my stomach I was fine after that but two years later i needed a fusion i had that

  • I think everyone can agree that scoliosis is just a pain in the ass that us special selected people get.You can't understand it unless you have it. I barely have scoliosis because I have an s curve that is 9 degrease. I have to wear a brace only at night thank god but still it makes me get less sleep. I feel ya!

  • OMG i have scoliosis to!!!

  • sweetie I feel like i feels your pain, i understand on this scoliosis adventure path, and please, I am kinda looking into spinecore brace im interested in doing that additionally, .... im still updating my info about my treatment journey.

  • u always have the hickups! lol

  • well this video has helped me because i have scoliosis and i've had it since i was in 1st grade and i am now in 7th grade. i've had trouble with this ever since i've had my brace. between me being active and people making fun of me 4 it i have just wanted to give up some times but i pulled through and my doctor said i've been the most improved patient she has ever had in the children's hospital in hartford connecticut. so thats my story and bye and tks 4 the support and good luck with every1

  • whoever wants to ask me any questions on scoliosis plz email me on scoliosisspine@yahoo.co.uk --------i have had the surgery 6 months ago! not a docotr just want to help! thx

  • thank you for the spinecor website. im 23 now when i was younger I didnt want an op, in the last 3 years my spine has gotten worse, I want that op. if your spine doesnt change you are right that is not worth the risk, visit the doctors at least once every year to monitor your spine (touch wood) your spine gets worse think about the op then.

  • Hello! Please check out my website, w w w. scoliosisupdate. blogspot. com (please remove the spaces). My website can also be seen from my Youtube channel, under the About Me description. The blog contains some information on scoliosis that may be helpful for you. Feel free to comment. Thanks!

  • ily

  • I had 2 surgeries for this....i forgot how saver it was but i think it was a 90 degree. They couldnt fix it completely though. Im still doing good anyway.

  • oh shit ive been mean to this girl :(.........But i didnt knew...Man i am a pease of shit some times........SORRY!

  • i have scoliosis , i had surgery 1 month ago i had a 66degrees curve!

now i have a 10 degrees curve! i recommend surgery , yes there is a risk of being paralised and in EVERY surgery there is a risk of dying! but ....i suggest u go to the doctor and see what they say! good luck to anyone and everyone who is having problems with thier health :)

  • @1703lily Hi !! I've heard that with the surgery you can't run or jump or bend is that true???? my doctor said I don't need surgery ! I don't remeber how many degrees I have! but believe me I am twisted!! ¬¬ can you have a really normal life?

  • @SauceLlorona1990

well , u can do everything u do before the surgery! ur life will be normal!!! gdluck! :)

  • @SauceLlorona1990 Nope that's NOT true!! It depends on which part of the spine you fused, but running and jumping is never a problem, unless you fuse down to the sacrum! Bending may be limited, depending on where you fuse too!

  • PASTE!!!

  • Wow. I cannot wait to get this brace!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for this testimony. Your sweet

  • i can relate to you because I'm legally blind so im down for you. amarillo333 tooo.

  • I am 13 and have been dealing w/ scoliosis for 3 or 4 years.. I am acually getting a brace this week.. Wish my luck.. Lolz.. I have a friend who had surgery and it went ok but that doesn't mean that it's safe.. It depends on what kind of shape your in and how bad your curve is.. Just my thoughts! Thanks so much for sharing the vid! Knowing everyday is a good day for you makes me feel the future for me is poitive!

  • hey im 13 i have scoliosis i have a dubble S shape my top curve is 66degrees and my buttom is 44. i have the spincor brace but its not helping me bc of my degree is realy bad so im going in for surgery at sickkids but i have yet to hear from them since they told im 2 on the list for them ..... ive been on that list for number 2 for now 3 months. they say i would need 2 medal poles in my back but they think i might need more then 1 surgery for it :(

  • i have it im 11

  • ok, seiously i have had scoliosis scince i was 8, and i hated every bit of the way. now im gonna get an operation and im sooo happy, cause instead of using a stupid brace for who knows how long i get to get it all over in a few months.

  • I got rid of my Scoliosis at 38 without surgery using a Theraflex Machine.

Search mjYU_fWhjU4 in the You Tube search box to see me having a treatment session. My back used to disappear behind my shoulder blade and a few sessions on this and now it’s visible along the whole back. Before and after photos on my Facebook Group : Scoliosis Cures and Pain Relief. Get your Doctor to get one and give you a few sessions

  • This video looks like you are talking to yourself in a mirror, i mean because it's inverted-reversed-flipped!

  • Hey I feel ya girl! I have rotary scoliosis and spondlyosis... They want me to get my spine fused but I am too scared to do that... I have the cloth brace but it feels like a gertle.

  • You think surgery is the easy way out? I just got it a month ago after wearing your precious Spinecor brace for 4 years, and it was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I did it because I HAD to or my curve would have progressed one degree worse every year for the rest of my life. I'd rather risk surgical complications than be miserable with pain and heart and lung complications when I'm older. Get your facts straight and stop trying to scare people out of surgery. Mine was a total success.

  • I respect your feelings and views, but your video made me a bit mad. I have had scoliosis since i was 5, and have had a brace since I was 8 (18 hors a day). I am now 14. Surgery is not the easy way out. Frankly, the doctor making the decision knows more about it than you do and only has their patients best interests at heart. You should check you facts before you post the video (9 months of bedrest? Please). What if surgery is the only option for someone?

  • theres a video on youtube of these girls picking on scoliosis. they call it retarded scolosis. SCOLIOSIS IS NOT RETARDED

  • if you have serious scoliosis you'd have no choice but to have surgeries, i was born with serious scoliosis i've had 8 spinal surgeries ever since 2 hours old, to 17 years old. You have a 50/50 chance of being paralyzed, and i got lucky. I go through pain 24/7 le sigh, but you get used to it. It's not fun though.

  • I have scoliosis too, I am really scared, I'm going to another doctor tommorow, I don't want the surgery and glad they have an alternative! What will they do to me????

  • luck-ee, wyattgannsgurl. they found yours early enough. they found my scoliosis when it was too late for bracing. i had surgery. WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have scoliosis too but I wear a Boston brace it's plastic and I wear it for 23 hours a day I'm about don't with my brace cause I'm about done growing!

  • I had the surgery done back in August and I'm just fine. Surgery is pretty risky and I was scared to death when I went into the OR, but it was sooooo worth it!

  • i have scoliosis too, its not niice! i've had it since i was boorn, but i've only recently had surgery!

  • hey guys, i have scoliosis and had to wear a brace from when i was 9-15. i have a bunch of undershirts that were made just for under my brace, if anyone is interested in these just message me and i would be happy to send them to you. also, its no use to ask for these if you dont intend on using them for under your brace, there nothing fashionable, just comfortable. message me!

  • @PongoANDScout -

i dont think u know this but every one is different and some people recover in 1 week and some in 1 month. it really depends on your curve and how healthy you are.i hope u know how mean and annoying ur comments are when people are just trying to express their stories and feelings.

  • exactly, i have it too, and my surgeon says it may make me worse.

I know a girl who had it almost a year ago and she still hasn't fully recovered. The medicine made her sick, then she caught a bug in hospital and she just got really ill.

  • Dear umm i dont no ur name,

Im riley and i had scoliosis to a 120 degree curve and it went beyond bracing so i had the surgery but due to such a serios curve i came out paralyzed. that was only because of the curve severity. And you dont have 9 months of bed rest you usually get up the next day. Unfortunatly i just had a bad curve but surgery worked out good. comment bakk

  • sugery is so worth it :) my curve was really bad it went beyond bracing...

  • One more thing. 9 months bed rest? No thats a total over statement. Its 2 weeks bed rest for major surgeries like my upcoming one. And 6 months of no super hard core physical activity. (no bungy jumping, no foot ball, no sports,)

  • Messed up? The only limits to you are the ones you make I work out...I bike 12 kms walk 4 without pain. You have little expierence, I know I didnt feel your pain or maybe it was different because girls you know are just just bitches.. I have scoliosis people stare 24/7 and I dont care. I could lock myself in my bedroom saying over and over Im not normal but the truth is...who is normal? No one has a flaw, if you were created the way you were by God then how are you imperfect?

  • Surgery always has risks (infections or worse) and unless you have an aweful doctor, your covered your safe. They are very very very careful using pressure gauges that messure the pressure on the spinal cord. They are always on guard. Im getting ready for a surgery and Ive never been ashamed of it. Ive hated it. And... feeling ugly? You can run your life from it or face it, whats worse hating yourself when its not your fault or accepting it... Surgery is not a dangerous as you make it sound.

  • 9 months bed rest? lol omfg screw that

  • im glad that u posted this video! it made me feel better. i figured out that i had scoliosis a week ago&im 12. i felt really bad cuz all the options ive heard were HARD back braces and of course surgery (no offense to the people who had the surgery but for me since im still young and i have never had a surgery before, it's just kind of scary for me) now knowing that there is something that would help, is flexible & also people cant tell that your wearing one has made me a happy gal. thxs again!

  • Its wrong what you said about the surgery , most other techniques dont work for most people and im having this done in 6\7 weeks ..... watch what you say because this is hurtful

  • I think my mom mentioned she had scoliosis when I showed her your first video on it, but I think she recovered with a uncomfortable metal brace version of what you have. Glad you're getting better. :)

  • you shouldnt say surgery is such a bad option when you havent gone through it. for me it was the best choice i could have made. And it was by no means an "easy way out" it was very hard at first but each day it gets better. =)

  • And 9 months of bed rest? You are walking the next morning-and it is an amazing experience.

  • I had surgery in January and can testify to how great it can be. Your words upset me. By no means is surgery an "easy way out" or "screwing with your spine"! I would say spinal surgeons are the most talented in the surgical field. And as far as the scar goes, I am PROUD of my scar. It shows how much I went through and I love showing it off. Surgery is a big decision but assures a better life for adolescent scolio patients.

  • i have scoliosis.

i use to wear a boston brace.

i had surgery last june and i think u r making the surgey sound worse than it is,it isn't nice having the surgey but the risk of getting parralised is very low and the thing bout the airports i asked my doc and he said i wouldn't go off.

    so yeah

  • I realised, while watching the video, that yeah, you are really a perfectionist ;D haha :) Um... But that about the surgery stuff... It's not bad to make THAT kind of surgery. Because it helps you. And yes of course you get scars. But why would you show your back like that? Do you show your back when you have a brace on? Well I don't :) Don't get this wrong. I'm just saying what I think.

  • cool microphone thingy!!

  • Yeah; you have NO clue what you are talking about... so yeah. Maybe you should learn about your condition first. I dont know if you want people to pitty you... but you sound ridiculous. YOU wouldnt recommend surgery? Or would you rather be hunched back and incapable of walking? And it's not nine months of bedrest!?!? I've had a brace for years... which hasnt helped one bit; so my only option is surgery... Your NOT a doctor...You obviously have NO clue and NEED to get a life...

  • Pongo, I agree....It was pretty upsetting to hear how the surgery I got 5 months ago is so "messed up, and woohoo, a huge scar, -I'd like to meet someone who doesnt have a scar on their body, and good luck at airports? Newsflash girl- they dectors dont even pick it up. and nine months of bedrest..that ridiculous.. I laid around home and recovered for 2 weeks and then i was back at school doing fine. I dont know who you think you are, but get your facts straight before you go voicing your opinion

  • I was actually just diagnosed today with scoliosis and i am 23 yr old girl. I have no other way of treatment b/c I am no longer growing.

  • Brookers! I have mild scoliosis and even this little bit is way uncomfortable I have so much sympathy. Thanks for being open about it.

  • I had server scoliosis, had surgery at Shiners Hospital in Portland, OR. I was in the hospital for a week. They had me walking the day after surgery!? I now have a huge scare its gory! The surgery went great, I am taller! I do remember there being a patient who I met while in the hospital going in for his second surgery due to him growing- the curve reappearing. I suggest looking into wearing a brace before considering surgery. Good luck to you all!

  • I would highly recommend Quantum-Touch. It even helps children with SMA

  • heyy i have a pretty bad curve and ive decided to get the spinecor brace.....im actually going to get it on thursdayy and im not really sure what to expect. I'll also be going to manhattan to the same office!

  • can u make a video and show us yer brace?? i wna see if der da same :]

  • im glad i only have mild scoliosis! i dont have to wear a brace and i havent had surgery.but i really wouldnt want surgery! and i dont want the brace either! i heard of a message you can get to possibly help/fix it but i heard it cost a lot!and my back literally hurts right now and all doctors do is say "come in another 6 months to get an x-ray and see if it gets better" but i guess its getting better even though it doenst feel that way! and btw,is it bad to run/power walk when u have scoliosis?

  • im getting surgery sometime this year 2009 my curve is severe.but dont believe it wen the doctors say you'll grow out of it. they told my sister that and gave her her brace to late. shes 18 now and her scoliosis is irriversible. oh and well i dont kno about you but wen i run my back literally aches. so yes

  • I was diagnoised with Scoliosis when I was 11 and had my surgery when I was 12. I have a harrington rod that goes from the base of my neck and down and over my tailbone. Mine was severe and I would have had to do the surgery even if i did the brace. Now my spine is curving back and I have read that this can cause my rod to bend and/or break. I have read yoga is good for your back and your scoliosis even if you do have a rod and/or fusion in your back.

  • as far as the bed rest, i was walking all over the hospital the day after surgery. and i was climbing stairs 2 days after. i have no limitations now either. i can do everything i want. and the best part is i dont slouch what so ever, i am perfectly straight. so i think those rumors you've heard about the beeping in the airport and the 9 month bed rest is crap. because i had no bed rest what so ever.

  • i was diagnosed with scoliosis when i was 7 years old and i wore a brace until i was 12 when i had the Spinal Fusion surgery. I am 21 years old now, and i can honestly say that i have not once beeped at an airport. the metal they use your back is titanium steel, and it doesnt trigger the alarm. from my experience i would recommend the surgery.

  • ya i just got spinecor a week ago i only have a 28 degree curve i really like it cuz the other brace just looked SCARY! but i HATE trying to hide it! but its pretty bomb as far as back braces go:)

  • wow i feel really bad for you...

  • I have scoliosis as well:((((

It really sucks! I have to wear this hard backbrace 23 hours a day! it's horrible. But I've almost given up...I don't were it so much anymore since it's so terrible.

  • i had my surgery in 1998

  • yea, i stoped wearing that brace for the same reason.

  • y did u stop wearing da brace??

  • it was really bothering me, and i thought i rather have the surgery then wear that brace till 18.

i just had my surgery on the 26 of january 2009, and i have to say its way better than wearing that brace; the pain is barley bad, and i grew 2 1/2 inches

  • I know how you felt/feel I currently have it it really affect my life i understand im 13 and had it since idk but It is hard to have it its painfull and I cant even walk straight

  • I'm so sorry for you your videos really made me cry, cause... but i hope everything goes good for you, =D

  • i'm sorry how horrible scoliosis has been for u and im glad ur feeling better. i have it too. the Boston and Spinecor braces didnt help me so im getting spinal fusion done soon

they are NOT "screwing with ur spine" & it's not "the easy way out"

and they DONT fuse a metal rod to ur spine

the new procedure involves small metal screws and fragments of bone but NOT huge rods of metal

and it is NOT 9 months of bed rest

its good ur trying to help people but dont try to scare them either

  • I have to agree with smiley about this. I just had surgery and its not like you described it. Its 4 weeks since my op and i went to skl 2day. personally i dont think u can say "i dont recommend it to anybody because..." when u havent had it done.

These ppl know what theyre doing. No way can it be described screwing with ur spine.

I had to make the decision to have surgery the day after my 13th birthday. It was the hardest decision i ever made. But i know it was the right one. I recommend it.

  • Im scheduled for surgery in 3 days and most people that have had the surgery nowadays get out in like a week. Im supposed to get out in 4-6 days. Most kids that get the surgery these days go back to school within 3 weeks(not 9 months). So I really think you should do a little more research on what the surgery does because it really doesnt seem like you know what you are talking about. I have a 73 degree curve and at that point, surgery is the only option. Dont scare people that need surgery.

  • I found out yesterday I have to get a brace :(

  • heeeeeeeeeey ur videp is really gd i hope u get better............

  • i have mild scoliosis , and yr video was REALLY helpful !! i'm being fitted for the soft brace saterday

  • 9 months of bed rest after surgery? What are you talking about??? That was maybe 30 years ago. I had surgery 10 years ago and left the hospital after 2 weeks. Don't scare those that have to undergo surgery!

  • i had scoliolsis too but i had surgey in november of 2007 to fix it.

  • Oh man i totally feel your pain. My curve was 73 as of one year ago. And I have surgery this year. And I don't want it done, but it's the only option left. And about the clothes, you're right. They don't fit right. Most of them look weird on my back. p.s. my friend got the surgery, and it doesn't set off metal detectors ;]

  • i can relate to u cuz i have to get a boston brace in about a week becuz of my scoliosis...it kinda sux

  • i had to wear the boston brace for a few years

its not as scary as it seems

(though it does get a little sweaty in summer)

it feels a little awkward at first but in the end it didnt feel bad at all and was really comfortable, esp as my back changed with it

getting fitted for them if messy though, with all the plaster

    haha

  • hey there! i have scoliosis too and it sucks!! and it is hard especially if u a girl, i mean u wanna look cute in clothes but things dont always fit right and u feel a little self concious. im going to have surgery next month, im so excited im finially getting it taken care of, but im really nervous at the same time. well good luck with ur spine and hope all goes well!!

ps. u remind me soo so much of my friend samantha! xD

  • I enjoyed your video very much. I have scoliosis, though it's mild. It remained stable. I have my good and bad days, but they're mostly good. I had to wear a brace for 2 years. I was the only one in my school with scoliosis, so I felt excluded. Years later, i'm glad that it didn't get worse and that i survived it. You're a smart girl. I'm glad spinecor is helping you. All the best

  • Great to see you happy about Spinecor...my daughter was just fitted last week and just started the whole scary ride...I am going to hook her up with you!

  • hey, when i got pneuonia and had an athsama attack we went to the doctors and he told me i have scoliosis. i had surgry and when i went through the air port, the beeper went off. lol but i couldn't be happier about my surgery, i cured my asthma and my back pain. now i do karate, trak, gynastics, and chearleading

  • hey guys! i also have Scoliosis 75%! i wasnt sure if i should do surgery or not! its a risk but it dose make your back straighter! (i hope) what should i do?? plzz help

    Comment

  • I have scoliosis too. i have to wear a night brace. :(

  • Go to a pediatric orthopaedist or children's hospital find the guy who does scoliosis and ask questions. Then get a second opinion and ask a kid who's had surgery and ask her.

  • oops i meant BEFORE the bones matures... sorry ! ;)

  • I had the rods put in 14 yrs ago. Im 28. I run exercise, yoga, you name it, EVERYDAY. I thank god Im able to and i have ZERO pain. Everyone with severe scoliosis should have the surgery at that young of age (being the bones mature) if they need it in order to prevent future problems. good luck :)

  • hey brooke, i totally get what you were saying in this vid, even though its really old lol. im 15 and i like have to have surgery or basically my innards are gonna go boom or something. i cant breathe anymore hardly so its like, eek. so yeah. but id go for a brace if it would work. i really dont want crap in my spine but unfortunately, gotta do whatcha gotta do.

  • i was gonna add that id like to ask my parents about this but my next appointment to see the surgeon about my back is in like 15 days and i doubt my parents will give into this and completely forget the surgery thats been planned but...i really hope this could be an alternative

    thanks

  • GULP.

  • that is the most gigantic mic ever. Its a gigantic white ball. You can knock someone out with that microphone! or play soccer or something lol.

rock on quietriot, your spine will get 100% soon ^^

  • I have hope for you or anyone else with scoliosis. Please watch my video. You can reduce the curve of your spine without surgery or bracing. Please give it a chance.

  • Hi Brooke - I'm gonna send you an email too - but I'll say something here for everyone else too. I was born with a compound curvature, got my first brace when I was 6 and had fusion surgery shortly after. I wore braces 23hrs/day until I was about 16. At 15 I had rods and clamps etc installed. I'm 38 now. I don't often talk about the negatives - but I have severe osteoarthritis now - if the brace works stick with it - tell others - it's good for your soul

  • so many people have scolious :S like i watch tons of poeples videos and they always say they have scolious i feel realyl bad for you

  • I was 13 when i had my operation i was so scared but now im so glad i had it done i can now fulfill my dreams of bein a model x

  • aaaaaaah that blows...I have scoliosis too, ...ill make a video of me kicking my braces ass(even though it doesnt actually have...an ass...)....why?BECAUSE I CAN.......scoliosis suuuuuuuucks.

  • wow that's gotta suck but i hav scoliosis too only i was born with it and started wearing a brace for it about 3 or 4 years ago and i'm almost done with it and ur defineatly right about the clothes and hieght thing i'm only 5'1 and the clothes i try on never fit quite right i kno exactly how u feel :)

  • scoliosis is hard for guys too. We're supposed to be so tough and invincable.

  • spinecore. hell yeah, new music genre.

  • is that a tear? i'm sorry brooke. good luck my friend

    mwah!

  • i had to get surgery about a year ago. my top curve was 75 degrees and my bottom was 65 degrees.

  • i have scoliosis too. i went to the doctor yesterday and they took ex rays and i have a 58 degree angle in my spine. i am going to have the surgery in a couple months and my mom told me about all of the scoliosis videos on youtube. yours was the first one i watched

  • i forgot to say im really sorry and i feel your pain. i had numbness too. and scoliosis especially is hard for girls.

  • cool video =)

im sorry for anyone who has scoliosis. it is so difficult. its one of those problems that look very small on the surface but scoliosis can affect a lot of things so its important to take care of it. i had a boston brace but it caused muscle atrophy which is why i do not reccomend hard braces for anyone. now i have the spinecor brace. it works! my curve has gotten so much better and you dont have to worry about people seeing it too. good luck to everyone =)

  • heyy

i have scoliosis too blechh...i wear a boston brace and it sucks A LOT.

hopefully, i just have 1 more year. gahhh i want it to be OVER. uhm and yeah, your a great inspiration!! good luck =)

    you're

  • I have a 15 degree curve in my spine

and I was diagnosed with it when I was just 15

    i'm 5'2''

It's minor, but I have alot of the problems you do

    Don't feel bad

    Good luck♥

  • Wow. That sucks that you have to go through that.

  • OMG!

    I feel ya :(

Had scoliosis sense 7th grade apparently, but we didn't figure out what it was until a few months ago =|

I'm not sure how crooked my spine is but its not bad enough for surgery. I have to do exercises for myself and they're hoping that my spine will correct itself.

But I think that's why I'm so short. I stopped growing around 7th grade and I've been the same height sense then.

My dad is really tall so they say I'm supposed to be tall. So yeh. It sucks don't it?

  • srry to ask, but wat is that? and its good that u can talk about it girl speak the truth!

  • you are my hero. i have a boston brace now and i hate it. im checking out spinecor. xD

  • my sister has scoliosis. it's good to see someone with scoliosis talking about a treatment that's been helping, I think I might show it to my parents and her.

  • i guess i'm trying to say it's not very obvious you have scoliosis in your blogs.

    keep kicking ass

  • LOL "good luck at airports"

i had no idea you had problems, but i haven't seen all of your vids yet. good luck to ya

  • Totally support non-surgical treatment

  • Brooke Speaks Italian ? (NUMERO UNO)

  • it spanish lol

  • lol thats spanish! xD

  • i think i have it, i aint sure though

what are the symptoms? b/c when i work out my left side works out more than my right and my shoulders dont feel even

i dont have any pains though

  • yeah ive had the rods for years and i've never set off a metal detector

  • :))

  • so now it's been a year since all that and now because of the surgery i have perfect posture, even though i kind of already did before the surgery. :D. once in a while my back does hurt from either being ran into by people in the halls or sitting upright for hours and hours on end. wow, i typed a lot... sorry, i hope you had a good time reading all of this. haha. bye!

  • strangely the scars are along my side, not really that close to my spine. i couldn't swallow pills or take medicine so after the week in the hospital with morphine i had to go home with no medicine what-so-ever. i spent the summer in my house recovering.

  • after the 3 years it got worse and on July 26th 2006 at 6:30 in the morning i had to go to the hospital to go through with the surgery. the surgery lasted 7 hours, with the surgery they put screws and a rod along my spine to correct most the curve. i have 2 scars now, one from the cut they made to get in me and another from the chest tube.

  • well, i had a straight back growing up, but when i finally grew with a growth spurt during one summer i grew like 3 to 4 inches. so i think my body couldn't catch up so it made my back curved, kind of like a "S" but it truly wasn't noticeable if you had the chance to look at me. so a doctor found out during one checkup which led up to me having to wear a back brace for 3 years, 23 hours a day & 1 hour of freedom, to try to prevent the curve from getting worse.

  • OMG I think I might've saw you at the Manhatten office today! *GASPS!* I'm not totally sure that I did, but I was in there today to get my Spinecore for the FIRST TIME! It's SUCH a drastic change from the Boston brace, and I feel great already! I have a 35.6 degree curve, and the other doctors lied and said I had 26 degrees. *AAH!* I'll send in my story.

  • I wanted to get spinecor! But my doctor told me that HE was the doctor and NOT to go to ANYONE else, because Spinecor does NOT work! Im so mad at him. :(

  • Your doctor sounds selfish, no offense. Shouldn't he be looking for anything to help your scoliosis not just HIS stuff? Just my opinion . . .

  • SpineCore totally works. I've been using it for 6 months now (hehe) and my curve has gone down to the early twenties from the mid thirties! WEE!

    I feel straighter.

  • Heres some words for you brooke.

Pain can come and go. But Feelings will stay with you,Stay strong and soon enough you will be strong.

OKAY i totally made that up on the spot okay? But brooke you are soo great and u opended my eyes. Stay strong brooke, I will always think your great no matta wat! okay this is kinda whiny but who cares? <3 good luck

  • thanks for the help i have it really bad but i HAVE TO get the sergarey but i hate waring my breas:(:(:( plzzz replay back aka im onley 12!:(

  • Makes me want to cry. For hiccups take a 1/4 slice of a lime, bit into it and swallow the juice, works every time. Get yourself a rack and spend an hour a day on that, plus an hour a day having someone rub and push your spine strait. If anything a good rub helps with the pain.

  • i was diagnosed with scoliosis when i was 14 and i havent gotten any treatment cuz when i was 17 they couldn't do anything about it b/c i was too old for the pediatric hospital and too young for the adult one...my sis has it too and well. her treatment was observation. our scoliosis isnt as serious...like...around 40 degree angles..i still have to get re-referred to the ortho surgeon again. i think if i had a brace i could sit up longer...i find myself studying in my bed n falling asleep.

  • I did the surgery in 2006. Best thing I did in my life!

  • Like she said, it can come out good. Obviously you were lucky. Because I know people that have had surgery, and it was the worst thing they did in their life.

  • Omg ur amazing you were in pain but you still made viedos even tho i wanna be like you =) you inspired me to make funny viedos REALLY! i bought a viedo camera i just need some help so if you have any tips tell me plz!

  • Hey Brooke, I just saw Martha's comment and realized... it never occurred to me to let you know.

But, I posted a video response too and haven't seen it show up. I'm not quite sure if maybe you didn't see it, or.. w/e. So I thought I'd let you know that it's out there, although it's not as cool as Martha and Katie's (I think was her name?) since uh... I don't have a cam.

  • Hey Brooke..I posted you a video response, but dont see it yet...not sure how long its supposed to take. I have started to video my long sordid scoliosis story which I hope can help folks who already had the surgery...so much FUN! (not).Anyways, I hope you check it out on my site and write me if you have any questions...Martha

  • Those people as one who look at the clear night sky and do know we are as one part of the universe Those people separated from the others - it seems who think they are alone are not What is it in the humanity that we need to look at the sky and remember that we are all One
  • thanks!i learned a new word!

  • This is amazing, I'm so glad this is working out for you. I'm also incredibly glade that you've made these videos as it has given me a new option for my own scoliosis. Although my curvature isn't very severe at all I've had a lot of pain, numbness, and nerve damage. For years now I've been looking for a non-surgical option. So I sincerely thank you for putting this out there, really.

  • i took like all the video for me too realise that what you were holding was a microphone i though it was a hairdryer

  • Hi QR I left this comment on KitKats channel but thought I should post it here also: I wonder if being thin or low weight can be a problem in a way since maby if the person can increase their muscle mass it might offer some help or prevention, im not sure at all, but maby it could make things worse, maby a doctor knows

  • Sorry, but i think the rods are very helpful. As far as i know, my curves are so bad, it will get worse unless i get surgery. The screws are titanium so the detectors at airports dont beep and the scar disappears after some treatment. I heard people who had done the surgery reccomend it, besides, I do not want to wear a brace forever even if it does make me feel better.

  • good luck!!! one of my best friends has scoliosis and shes doing great!!oh and your so brave! hope it works out for you!

  • Not sure if this will help, but read Deenie by Judy Blume - it addresses scoliosis.

Hope everything goes well for you :)

    xxx

  • You are the bravest, Brookers!!!!!

  • good for you Brook, I'm glad it's helping you so much and talking about it can only be a good thing. If you help just one person it's worth it... :-D

  • yeah my mom had Scoliosis when she was like 8 and she had the surgery so she has the metal rod on her spine and they had to take bone from her hip as well, my mom was the letter C not S and she was like a 78 degree curve, and luckily she didnt beep going through airports, but if she didnt have it done she would have died. shes now 38 and yeah, so im wishing you all the best, and yes she has a HUGE scar along her back, and after her sugery she grew 3 and a half inches.

  • That is an enormous microphone.

  • my granny had scoliosis. she had to get a rod in her back too. plus we went to the airport! we were goin threw the metal detector and the thing went off and they did a cavity search on her. i was all like " EW"

  • wow. i feel bad for you. im sorry about that. dont stab urself please! brooke please be carful with ur surgery!!! WE BELEIVE IN YOU!!!

  • good luck with it!

  • It seems the medical establishment is always in a hurry to cut or medicate. This is very good news indeed!

  • Here's a comment to help your cause. I don't have scoliosis, but everyone tells me I have halitosis.

  • I like your mike
