It's funny how so many ppl complain about how it's the wring notes.. ITS A FREAKING ROAD PEOPLE!!! how many roads do YOU know play music when u drive over it???
It has been moved! due to complaints from the end house from where it starts the lady didn't like hearing it so I think the new location is over on ave G on the way from frwy 14 to fox field air strip
there's one in Lancaster Sierra highway and W avenue G Take Sierra highway towards rosemead city and make a left on W avenue G once u make a left u will see signs of directions on which lane it is...
I'm with ya someymehra, Lancaster has become the armpit of L.A. County. AND it's called "The William Tell Overture", not the Lone Ranger. Lancaster jackasses, or, better yet, L.A. rejects. Thanks for fucking up my town.
I took my best friend out there one night after midnight (We'd just gotten off work). She had not heard anything about this road. So I psyched her a bit. I said "Sometimes I get a song stuck in my head so bad that I think other people can hear it! I'm thinking of one now. Can you hear it?? Concentrate!!"
This was a somewhat successful attempt to have the grooves play the "William Tell Overture" (theme to the Lone Ranger)... but they apparently never consulted someone who KNOWS how the tune goes. It's off in its intervals and its rhythm at the end. It's close enough for people with no musical ear to say, "Uh, the Lone Ranger?"
I was sooo pissed when they paved over that. What a waste. This town need to lighten up and appreciate cool fun stuff like this. Well at least I got to drive over it before they paved it.....
I think all you critical folks should lighten up. Doing the math for this is pretty intense and would require experimentation. That would be expensive. I think that they got it this close is pretty cool. Beside if Mr. Tell had in deed shot his son, perhaps a minor key would be more appropriate. So Honda just missed...
Do a little research of your own knuckle head - Honda designed it to be played with a 2009 Honda Civic. The wheel spacing and tire size allows it to be played in the proper key....
True, knew that, and I know that speed should be 55 MPH, but, changing the wheel spacing (2009 Honda Civic = 106.3")or the speed, would not change the interval relationship of the notes relative to EACH OTHER, which is what they got wrong.
If you drive over it in reverse you can hear the voice of satan...

it has to do with the movement of air caused by your car driving. the grooves in the road were made such that they echo back those notes

Damn, if I knew about this, I would've wanted to drive over it before I moved away. Shows how much I know about my own hometown. D:

They re-did it further out of town away from the homes and added a divider with a turn lane so you can turn around safely.

Liverpool should avoid doing this with Beatles songs. Imagine how many people would drive along in reverse listening for Satanic messages.
taipeislim 3 years ago 42
They'd just have to cross over the lane on the wrong way.
JustMakingComments 3 years ago
That's what I mean - traffic would be helter skelter.

Music is wrong! It's in a minor key - should be a major key. Do alittle research, Honda.

Its the speed of travel which determines the pitch, not the wheel spacing or tyre size.

Very cool!
The city of Liverpool, England ought to do some Beatle songs this way!
I wonder if you could create some crude speech, like "Slow Down"...
