  • In general, Linda has good views. Hess is way too business focused. Yet both talk about "standards," "achievement," "performance" and do not emphasize (at least not in this debate) those things which help people become/be good human beings in the world: inquiry, creativity, critical thinking, connections, supposition, social justice, relevance, community, cooperation, etc, etc. Systems can be good or bad, depends on what they are driven by. A person can be a high achiever but a terrible human...
