I used to live in Shreveport too. Delbert has some other songs about that South Louisiana thang too. .. Solid Gold Plated Fool and Honky Tonkin' (I guess I done me some)
Hey carann5 I dropped by your channel and I just had to hit this, OMG What A Great Song, Hell Yeah Delbert Cooks AND Rocks like a big dog! The accompanying visuals were up to your usual standard: SPOT ON! Keep settin' up Bad Girl and I'll do my best to knock 'em back! Kudos to The Tube, the Mother Ship!
Thanks for your comment, Dave! I didn't even know of Delbert back in the 80's. I don't know why because he's been around for a while and I love his music. I guess he never really got the recognition he deserves. You are so lucky to have had contact with him. I wonder if his son is still in the music business. Does your brother still talk to him?
Been a fan of his since the70's. (my name doesn't really mean sixties only, it just means I hate today's music.) Anyway got to go back stage and meet him in Tunica, MS a few years ago. Great guy and easy to talk to. I had a CD in my hand and without even asking him he grabbed it and autographed it.
Sorry it took me so long to respond to your comment but thanks!
You are so lucky to have had the chance to meet and talk to him.
I would love a chance like that but wouldn't know what to say to him. I would be in such awe and would probably say something like, "I just love your music," which he has probably heard a million times. LOL! Thanks again for your comment!
I've been following Delbert since the late 70's and have only seen him once in concert...'86 or '87 in a little club in FL. This is an excellent video of one of my fav songs. I`m so happy to see more people have `discovered` Delbert. He``s a priceless gem whose songs have lifted me when I`m down and touched my heart when I`ve been in and out of love. After all these years, he still makes my heart flutter and my pulse quicken. Now, THAT``S talent!
Lord, gotta get those old line dance sheets. Love, Love, Love, Love this song. I use to listen to Delbert all the time. Life went on and Delbert got pushed to the back of the closet. Don't have to dig him out as long as I have YouTube. Thank God for modern tech.
Delbert, thanks for tearing it up for us at BB King's Friday nite. Tight and terrific band, and the man still can emote and belt out good old rhythm & blues with the best of them or better yet, take it down to a soulful ballad that even Sam Cooke would commend.
One of the all timers who should be seen whenever he's booked anywhere nearby.
Hi. I am a great Delbert fan too. I was able to see him perform in Odense (Denmark) in 2003 and in 2008 - fantastic! My husband and I have a lot of Delbert-music - GREAT! Kirsten Bay
@undrurspl If u want 2 go on the cruise u need 2 bookmark the cruise web page & watch daily 2 c when tickests 4 the 2012 cruise. They usually start selling them when they dock. seriously check it daily from now until tickets go on sale 4 2012. I may be wrong but the 2011 cruise has been sold out since 2/2010. They give the people on the cruise a chance to buy tickets for the next years cruise before the dock. Unless they get a bigger ship or some 1 dies getting tickets is about like bristol.
I've heard about his cruises and would love to go but wouldn't know who I could go with since I lost my husband 3 years ago and no one in my family appreciates Del's music like I do. Also, I could not possibly plan on anything in 2012 since I don't plan for anything more than a month or two in advance. But thanks so much for posting this info for those who may want to go. I'll just look for him to appear in concert somewhere near me.
Delbert stayed with us one day and one night in New Orleans at our apartment on Saint Charles Street many years ago. He slept on the couch, got up the next morning, had breakfast with us, read the newspaper, and took off. He told us he was a song writer, but at that time he was still unknown. We didn't even ask to hear any of his songs. Next thing we knew he was famous. I really like the way this video is put together. Excelent job Carol, you too Delbert.
Hi Ray! It's so good to hear from someone who had a connection with Delbert. I don't know when that was when he spent time with you but I know he's been around for a while. Too bad I was not familiar with his music back then. Just discovered his music about 4 years ago and have loved him ever since. I was able to see him perform in Maryland in 2006 and looking forward to seeing him again. He's great! Thanks for your kind words!
I went to see McClinton in Hell in Norway, not long ago.... I fell in love with his music, and his voice... My poor foot couldn't stand still for a second :)
Yes, he does deliver! Gotta love that Delbert! I saw him once in concert and hope to see him again sometime. Please check out two of my other "Delbert" videos and thanks so much for your comment!
Great video. Thank you.

His son was in my (much younger) brother's "garage band" back in the early 80's.
When "Dad" came to pick him up... I instantly knew who he was!
Completely freaked me out.
That's Texas for ya.
One of the best of Texas, ever!

It was the 80's... and I wish I could give you a great report on both my brother and D's son... but, I cannot.
Unfortunately, my brother has passed on... I think that "Monty" is still out there... somewhere.

Catch him live if you can, buy his CD if you can't.
