This is an amazing work for a 10 year old. I play too, and I didn't play Paganini, well, caprice no. 24 till I was 17 years old, I'm 23 now and have been playing for 18 years already. I can tell you you're doing good work, anyways you need to put some more practice on the spicatto at the 2nd variation and the 3rd variation is a lil' bit out of tune... And got to tell you most of the 2 string parts are not as clear as supossed. Anyways, this vid is old, I'd like to see you playing it nowadays.

Does his left elbow look extremely pulled in towards his right arm? It looks distorted. And, sometimes his right arm goes above his head, theres just something wrong with how he plays.

What kind of musician I am? One that has been playing for 16 years, that has finished conservatories in Paris, has won competitions and that is working in a professional orchestra.
I am not mocking him and its good that he is "attempting", but the reality is that he is amybe talented but this performance is not good at all. There are places where its even almost impossible to recognize what he is playing.

Not mature enough to play this piece yet. Talented for his age but he is like any ordinary violinist who started at the age of 4 or 5. Also there are many technique issues I could point out but whatev.
but actually I think you need a good teacher, who will tell you what is right for you to play now. It's very good video for a 10 year old kid, but there is a lot of mess. You are great violinist, but you will make far more better impression if you play sth a bit easier, but perfect. I'm sure you can do that :)

Hola.. I have to say that I was really impressed. I was a concert violinist for 4 years after playing for 13 years in total.. Stepan has real talent than can take him very far someday if he continues to work as hard as he has been. coincidently I'm in buenos aires right now, I've given up violin to study gastronomy at a school in zona norte.
Un consejo: no sé como será en Salta, pero nunca te inscribas en un conservatorio, excepto q tengas suerte y te toque un buen profesor. La mayoría( hablando de violín no, no sé otros instrumentos) solamente te hacen sentir frustrada porq no tirás bien el arco, cuando por ahí sos re afinado y le ponés enorme expresividad a la obra. Te consumen realmente. Peor la verdad, q buenísimo, Seguí así, colega!
Han puesto cada pelotudes! Como se nota q hay varios de los q firmaron akk q no tocaron un instrumento en su vida. Nunca se tomaron el trabajo de estar como mínimo cinco horas diarias estudiando una obra. Sos un groso! Realmente es increíble.

He did very good for his age on a very challenging peice! i couldn't even come close to this peice when I was 10! so there is deffenetly no negativity when it comes to his playing...but i hope this kid is aware he is all over youtube..because the worst thing you can do as a parent of a child prodagy is push the instrument on him soo hard and videotape and put him on the web to make him famous..it will not do him any good! hes just a kid and let him be a kid..but let him also enjoy his music!
paganini would never be so famous if his father didnt pushed him to the limits and even beoyond until his fingers bleed his parent want to do same i sopose
I play the violin and piano. Stepan has very good intonation considering the quality of the video and the fact that he was ten at the time. This is a very difficult piece of music, most kids his age are playing Suzuki Book 2 and 3. You also have to take into account that if he is playing on smaller than a 4/4 violin it's not going to sound as good. Plus, if he is playing a 4/4 violin, his hands aren't as big; making it even more difficult.
It sounds real bad to me. You should practice with pieces that are for your level. Go home and paractice 5 hours a day more and then maybe you can play it in 2 years. Dont be angry about what I´m saying but it makes me more angry if somenes try to play pieces that he cant. Your intonation are realy BAD!
Alican Yilmaz, are you really so insecure that you have to trash an 11 year old kid, who as you said is playing a difficult piece. I don't understand violinists and thier negative attitude towards other aspiring violinists. He attempted it and did a good job for his age and probably for his level.....at least hes not covering justin timberlake songs....ahem.
I am a studio musician who happens to have perfect pitch,you must have the most amazing ear in the entire world if you can find any real big problems with his intonation my friend because this kid played this piece damn well

nice job, but i think you should spend a lot more time on technique, etudes and intonation. your just managing to barely get through thease peices by doing a half ass job. if you were to learn the essential technique before you attempt thease difficult peices then the outcome would be a lot better.
obviously its great for any 10 year old to attempt to have such passion for music to attempt this piece. im just a strong believer i guess in working your way up to thease pieces not just playing them mediocore when your not ready
while I would have left out the halfassed part do to the fact that the ten year old might be reading these, you are right. It is a good to build up to these pieces. HOWEVER. The advantage that learning these early gives an aspiring professional is that everything else seems easy. Seriously. Even ifeverything isn't quite there yet, he learned the notes and that will serve him well later. The refinement of experience will come as he gains more experience and grows.

Not only does he manage to get through the music, the majority of it sounds competent and strong. Part of the intonation issues come from the room itself--it's a little too resonate for Paganini's quicker passages.

i think that he is aware of his mistakes, but he can't improve yet since he is firstly quite young and maybe needs more time on the piece...
his arm posture, technique and the piece is overall poor... the teacher is bad for pushing him to do this.

Not mature enough to play this piece yet. Talented for his age but he is like any ordinary violinist who started at the age of 4 or 5. Also there are many technique issues I could point out but whatev.

but actually I think you need a good teacher, who will tell you what is right for you to play now. It's very good video for a 10 year old kid, but there is a lot of mess. You are great violinist, but you will make far more better impression if you play sth a bit easier, but perfect. I'm sure you can do that :)

Hola.. I have to say that I was really impressed. I was a concert violinist for 4 years after playing for 13 years in total.. Stepan has real talent than can take him very far someday if he continues to work as hard as he has been. coincidently I'm in buenos aires right now, I've given up violin to study gastronomy at a school in zona norte.

Un consejo: no sé como será en Salta, pero nunca te inscribas en un conservatorio, excepto q tengas suerte y te toque un buen profesor. La mayoría( hablando de violín no, no sé otros instrumentos) solamente te hacen sentir frustrada porq no tirás bien el arco, cuando por ahí sos re afinado y le ponés enorme expresividad a la obra. Te consumen realmente. Peor la verdad, q buenísimo, Seguí así, colega!

buddy, its obvious ur dad forces u to play this stuff. dont play frigging paganini caprices at the age of 10. play some simpler things and focus on building personality into your playing.
BTW that violin is WAY too big for you

He did very good for his age on a very challenging peice! i couldn't even come close to this peice when I was 10! so there is deffenetly no negativity when it comes to his playing...but i hope this kid is aware he is all over youtube..because the worst thing you can do as a parent of a child prodagy is push the instrument on him soo hard and videotape and put him on the web to make him famous..it will not do him any good! hes just a kid and let him be a kid..but let him also enjoy his music!

I play the violin and piano. Stepan has very good intonation considering the quality of the video and the fact that he was ten at the time. This is a very difficult piece of music, most kids his age are playing Suzuki Book 2 and 3. You also have to take into account that if he is playing on smaller than a 4/4 violin it's not going to sound as good. Plus, if he is playing a 4/4 violin, his hands aren't as big; making it even more difficult.

It sounds real bad to me. You should practice with pieces that are for your level. Go home and paractice 5 hours a day more and then maybe you can play it in 2 years. Dont be angry about what I´m saying but it makes me more angry if somenes try to play pieces that he cant. Your intonation are realy BAD!

I don't understand violinists and thier negative attitude towards other aspiring violinists. He attempted it and did a good job for his age and probably for his level.....at least hes not covering justin timberlake songs....ahem.

I am a studio musician who happens to have perfect pitch,you must have the most amazing ear in the entire world if you can find any real big problems with his intonation my friend because this kid played this piece damn well
May be a bit out in a few parts,but he can play this piece better at 10 then most could in a lifetime keep it up Stepan, your the man ;)

nice job, but i think you should spend a lot more time on technique, etudes and intonation. your just managing to barely get through thease peices by doing a half ass job. if you were to learn the essential technique before you attempt thease difficult peices then the outcome would be a lot better.

Dude, he's ten. And for a ten year old to be playing a virtuoso level piece and doing the job he did is amazing.
Granted, it's by no means the best, and he has much upon which to improve. But, half-assed? Come on.
He's at least got the heart to attempt one of Paganini's caprices.

obviously its great for any 10 year old to attempt to have such passion for music to attempt this piece. im just a strong believer i guess in working your way up to thease pieces not just playing them mediocore when your not ready

while I would have left out the halfassed part do to the fact that the ten year old might be reading these, you are right. It is a good to build up to these pieces. HOWEVER. The advantage that learning these early gives an aspiring professional is that everything else seems easy. Seriously. Even ifeverything isn't quite there yet, he learned the notes and that will serve him well later. The refinement of experience will come as he gains more experience and grows.

Not only does he manage to get through the music, the majority of it sounds competent and strong. Part of the intonation issues come from the room itself--it's a little too resonate for Paganini's quicker passages.
