  • Kramnik is a beast but carlsen has some talent too:$

  • The analyse was in the Corus 2007 in Wijk-aan-Zee (NL)

  • where is the analye?

  • I NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS SO MUCH NOISE AND MOVEMENT WHEN CHESS PLAYERS PLAY :S

  • @rsobhee they are not really playing they are analyzing there game

  • In Soviet Russia, CHESS plays YOU!

  • @Fupper16 So true, man, so true...

  • @Fupper16 What do you mean by that? I'm ignorant.

  • "ooh ok very computer chess.." just don't want to admit your opponent was better?

  • I Highly respect those guy even though i dont know them.

  • How come they aren't using a chess clock? And how come they can retrieve moves? I thought that's against tournament rules.

  • this is after the game, they're analyzing....I hope you were joking..

  • this is post-match analysis

  • fischer would probably have been wc for 20 or so years if the damn soviets didnt put microchips in his brain, which caused him to go insane.

  • Yeah no, the Soviets totally did that

  • Kasparov was a great player. None can deny it. But one never forget the immense soviet support system that was constantly at his disposal. Counsel from the best players in the world - including the personal attention of Botvinnik was no small advantage in Kasparov's development.

    Fischer walked alone.

  • @logant44

I'm sorry, last time I checked Fischer wasn't the best player in the world for over 20 years, or maybe that's just my ignorance

  • He wasn't, no, he certainly had the ability to be had he chosen to defend the title.

  • @logant44 Actually the Soviet school favored Karpov and tried to hold back Kasparov in favor of him, Kasparov had to prove he was the best anyway without their support.

  • yep, and despite training 12h a day he was whooped by amateur Euwe wo was a math teacher and sportsman also.

  • Alekhine was amazing, the greatest genius chess player ever. Alekhine is more than a chess player, he s a monster human. Alekhine had a prodigious memory. He spoke almost perfect new foreign languages, played in his legendary career around 50,000 serious parties. A record not dream Karpov, Kasparov, Fischer and many others together. Alekhine knew by heart all parties played the tournament 15 years ago the masters and those played 100 years ago the great masters.

  • @mosu10 alekhine was a no life he study average 12 horus of chess per day. this guy was complety absorb by the game and he is the only wc to died with his title and a bank deposit of 3$

  • @mosu10 did you knew that "Dr." Aljechin wrote his dissertation about "criminal proceeding in China".

  • rotfl!

  • @antoniocherry

    LOL!

  • @antoniocherry

    lol. good one

  • Morphy, Fischer, the greatest players of all time. And also throughly American! Go Yankees! Carlsen is a wonderful fusion of the two.

  • Carlsen just smoked the competition at Pearl Springs (including Topalov) and is now rated 2801!

  • @theprez98: i know, that's insane. second highest rating in the world, right after his teacher.

  • It's over 2800!

  • @theprez98 In the March FIDE rating list he is in 2813, the second best in chess history after Kasparov's 2851 in July 1999.

  • @x6801 In addition, since chess ratings have inflated quite a bit since 1999, I think that Kasparov's rating then might be close to 2900 today.

  • @theprez98 and now his 2813... and has current live rating of 2824,1 with just to more game to plays ( white and black ) and it the last tournament before the fide list of July. Carlsen is a beast

  • @theprez98 Woot another one breaks 2800!

  • Are you kidding me? Carlsen in the World Open. He will go 9-0 with his eyes closed. A few years ago, Ivanchuk played in the New York Open and won every game and never used more than 45 minutes in any of his games.

  • carlsen 9-0 thats funny, he is the dullest player on the planet next to leko (yes MUCH more boring than kramnik).

  • Fischer is the greatest GM ever. When someone wins 19 straight games against GMs then we'll start making comparisons. Fischer in his prime would demolish Kasparov(whom I idolize), Karpov, Kramnik, Anand, and the rest of 'em. Fischer left the game to early otherwise he would have proven me right. He became a loon, but his chess was brilliant, and noone can take that from him.

  • Oh. A Fischer fan. Lots of these on youtube. :)

  • This has got to be a joke? 19 Straight games is great, take a look at Kasparov's personal record against the top players, he has a combined score of 42-0 against Shirov, Gelfand & Bareev!! Not including draws...

  • well this isn't worth debating, i may have exaggerated a bit but you can't deny fischer's greatness. at the very least he's kasparov's equal, and had they met on the board it would've been a great battle.

  • Yea, Kasparov is one of my favorites, but it sucks that he couldn't beat Kramnik when he faced him.

  • GM Wesley So, the upcoming chess star will beat magnus carlsen one of this days,gm so is just turned 15 and is 2641 elo rating, even higher than kasparov, fischer, carlsen, radjabov and karjakin when they turned 15

  • Do you mean win a game from Carlsen or win a match? There is a difference. The proof is in the pudding. We'll see what this kid is made of soon.

  • Rating is not the most accurate guage, Karpov, for example has never been particularly good in his rating, but the Russian is world champion for 10 years. And dont compare Wesley to Fischer, there can never be another of him. US Champion at the age of 14, less than 10 years later he's said to be the best in the world, at 29 he rampaged his way to the World Champion title after beating Spassky 7-3 with 11 draws. 3 years later he disappeared from the chess world... (and reappeared 20 years later)

  • Karpov was 2790, is that not a good rating ? lol

  • 1000 better than me. lol

  • According to the FIDE website, Carlsen is No. 4 as of March 21 2009. He is only 20 points below Topalev, though. Which means he'll probably be No. 1 very soon.

He is the highest rated teenager ever, better than even Fischer or Kasparov.

  • Well when Kasparov got 2710 in January 1983,he was alone with Karpov.Today there are 2650 chaps I've never heard about....

  • I'm not sure how that is relevant.

Even Fischer, in his days, was head and shoulders above everyone else. He had a 2700 rating while Spassky et al. were in the 2500s.

  • I believe gabisubis is speaking about rating inflation. For example, if Fischer's peak strength in 1972 could be preserved and he played at that clip currently, his rating would easily exceed 2800

  • Well, the rating is based on the number of victories against opponents whose rating is known.

Fischer beat his opponents x number of times, hence his rating. You may be right, but I'm not so sure. It's not the number of opponents you play that matters. It's the number of victories against them. Players today don't necessarily play more games per year than before. Kramnik & co play 20-30 games/year, not 300.

  • you can't compare carlsen to fisher. it's a different era. fisher did his own analysis without computers and teams of seconds like carlsen. even nakamura is easily carlsen's equal.

  • Carlsen is rated third in the world now.

He was born in 1990. Fischer was never that good at his age.

(Carlsen's opponents benefit from the same computer analysis. He is still the third best rated player in the world).

  • Rating inflation is due to a greater number of players. This introduces a higher total of points to go around, especially to the top guys. With one level feeding off the one below it, guys ascend to new heights but then level off as they play the other top 15 guys or so.

Btw, Fischer achieved the status of Grandmaster at a younger age than Carlsen. To this day, he is the youngest championship candidate EVER. Carlsen is a talent for sure, but he has some ways to go to catch Fischer.

  • Carlsen achieved the title of GM at 13 years and 4 months old, while Fischer was 15 years and 6 months old. As for championship candidate, it doesn't matter as Fischer did not win until he was 27.

  • Players get better ratings faster nowadays but they aren't as experienced as grandmasters of the past. Fischer was an unrivaled talent in his day. He was a grandmaster when then next youngest grandmaster Boris Spassky was 6 years older. It does matter that Fischer was a champ candidate, he could've won without soviet interference before 1972. When Carlsen wins it all, get back to me.

  • Are you insane! Nakamura = Carlsen! lol. I like Nakamura but that's a stretch!

  • It's not a stretch. Carlsen protects his rating by playing in category 18 or above round robins. Nakamura plays in opens and plays more against improving players so that they are stronger than their rating would suggest, so his rating takes a hit with draws and losses. Nakamura has no fear, and I suspect he doesn't worry about ratings that much. I want to see Carlsen play in the World Open or something similar and see what happens to his precious rating.

  • Wow Magnus is 18, I thought he was 12. :S Maybe he should grow a beard or something... :P

  • When this video was made, he was only 16.

  • anand nr.1 for now

  • why are they moving each others pieces?

  • cos they are THT good. hahah

  • "cos they are THT good. hahah"

    LOL!

  • they are analyse there played game and try some variations

  • Not that your English is much better ("shot mine head").

  • Comment removed

  • Magnus is Nr 1

  • No, he's Nr 4

  • Maybe now.. but He as been nr 1 once! and Im sure He'll be that again!

  • In your face to all you naysayers. He's currently number one in the world!

  • very right...

  • my name is magnus and i come from norway!

now Magnus Carlsen is ranked number 1

  • ranked 6

  • hes numero 2 now! Move over KRAMnik, move over Anand... here comes the WONDERBOY!!!!!

  • ranked 2 ..

  • now he is ranked as number 6 i think! on the live ratings!

  • 5 actually.

  • 1 as of now

  • top 10 would be a closer catch

  • I don't understand why carlsen isn't even talking.

  • That's just something that comes with a lot of chess experience.

  • It seems most chess players from non-english-speaking european countries all know how to speak english to a certain extent. That's impressive.

  • Kramnik is the best out there. Anand is good in tournaments. Still Kramnik didn't show his stuff yet!!!

  • Vladimir is teaching this boy

  • 'This boy' is ranked top 20 in the world.

  • he could play with me

  • Wouldn't be a very long game.

  • haha you don't know who im! :)

  • Are you ranked higher than him in the FIDE rating system ? If not, then I don't need to know who you are to know you probably can't beat him at chess.

  • i was ranked higher

  • Ok. I apologize for assuming he could beat you.

  • yes he could,im out of form

  • From a lei mans perspective this looks like nonsense but alot more is going on here than most people think

  • After the game is over, the two players talk to each other and move the pieces around and make moves that did not actually happen in the game. Sort of like "alternate endings" to a movie. Each player wants to see what the other player was thinking, or see if he has better moves than he actually played in the game.
