  • tyeye need to put a love it button on here

  • groovy

  • 11 people didnt get the puzzle piece...

  • I absolutely love this song. -3

  • This video would be so much better with an actual 45 gun in his face

  • :)

  • which one is the female?

  • they play like Seether xD

  • Its rare to find any really good music these days with all the bs being produced, but this is awesome.

  • one of the best songs ever, brent has the best voice!!!

  • This song shows how a great artist can reach you and make you realize your not alone. Others feel the same as you so never give up.

  • this Video reminds me of Bullet for my Valentine - All the things i hate

  • Ahhhhhhmazing

  • @AshhTastic that's the best thing about music, you can interpret what you want from it and the same song can mean so many different things to so many different people.

  • its not about a gun u dumb asses

  • Comment removed

  • 3 it!

  • Video sucks they never showed the gun only a blonde bich, good song though.

  • I can't stop listen this song...... :(((

  • People will always view things differently. It very much could be about suicide for the obvious reasons and clues, while others disagree and say it is just a phrase. Whatever it may be it's a beautiful song and has a very powerful meaning, in both aspects. No reason to argue over it.

  • i bet that hurt

  • Suicide

  • Good one

  • awesome song

  • such a real song anyone who has has a hard life can relate to

  • I keep listening to this song... my boyfriend left me and this song helps somehow.... Damn :'(

  • @mollyosaka youll find someonne better than he was. trust me i know. im sure a lot of ppl know and you most likely do to. :)

  • @ricardomagnesiumII

thank you, I appreciate your kind words.

  • @mollyosaka welcome

  • Love this song. It has gotten me through a lot of shit

  • @kgp227

yeah, I know. Hang in there.

  • I love the band and their music and this song hits hard into my heart. There are a lot of times I feel like I am staring down the barrel of a 45 as I struggle through the difficult times I encounter and I have learned that there are some things in life we can't change and have to accept the way they are.

  • I've NEVER cried because of a song before.

This song changed that. Its powerful enough to release the bottled up emotions I've held back for so long, only song that comes close to the caliber of this song, emotionally ravaging wise, is Epiphany by Staind in my opinion.

Im actually crying as I type this, for me this was a "Face Reality" type song, I love it.

  • @WWFattitude2000

yeah, especially during heartbreak somehow this song helps release emotions.

  • It's not of suicide, it's of a phrase like when your going through alot in life people say "man i'm staring through a barrel of a .45" so it's not a suicide but about getting through life like in the music video and stuff.

  • Now that man can sing. <3 it !

  • im sorry but can anyone tell me the point of this song im not hating or any thing shinedown is my fav band i just wanna kno the point

  • @ZeldaFreaks100: In short he's at the point of commiting suicide (staring down the barrel of a .45 gun) and wondering if hes doing the right thing because he knows sometimes life is beautiful.

  • That is SO AMAZING!

  • Everybody is going to get a different message when listening to this song. That's what art does, it makes people react differently.

  • @froztbite15 my recation was i like the song

  • @froztbite15 and this song just breaks me down into tears :) it's a briliant song just like most of their songs

  • There is no real reason to accept the way things have changed.

  • it not about killing hemself, it about not wanting to change to become comfortable with yourself. its about overcoming and moving forward NOT SUICIDE, the .45 is not to be taken literal it is a metophor for the world.

  • Now that one breath at the end sounds like a mild cry...

  • If no one knows what this song is about, it is about him killing himself because something happened to his family, most likely, his son dying.

  • awesome song. very bad video, boring even :/

  • @NinaSurf413 If you don't like the video then look up something else........ But the songs fucking rocks

  • Great song!

  • amazing!!!! *______*

    ♥♥♥♥ love shinedown 4ever ♥♥♥♥

  • At firs I thought "damn that red haired chick is ugly" then I saw his face... Now I feel stupid

  • Memories. Oh the memories.

  • not one of their best songs

  • @starkiss69 i believe they are but i cant give you a guerented but this song is amazing

  • are they a christian band?

  • @starkiss69 no

  • they had a rage agianst the machine painting in the video

the guy painted on the wall with words on its body

  • 7 people can suck my non-existent cock

  • love this song, his voice is soooo awesome and he sort of hot too.

  • @Rainbows379 was hot

  • this song makes me think a lot

  • @pixelles10 do you think about how shitty the song is?

  • @Motza322 I don't know :)) i felt complicated but not anymore

  • this is the first time I've ever heard this song and I absolutely love it! I am a huge shinedown fan but I got so caught up with the new sound of madness cd that I never gave the older CDs any other thought bcuz some songs I just couldn't click with but this song is so beautiful and inspiring I'm so happy I finally heard it.

  • @diamondsilverbullets well you might want to so back and listen to the old stuff it's way better!!!!!!!!!

  • absolutly best song ever

  • my god. look at how short barry's dreads are.

  • does the singer remind anyone in this vid of Jeff Hardy....wen he was cool....like 204 or around then

  • GREAT SONG

  • im going to see shinedown in concert tomorrow!! i cant wait!

  • I love this song - one of my close friends likes this song too.

  • This song is not about abortion...did you not see the box on the mantle? Looked to me like an urn...this song is about moving on from loss...about feeling like you're "staring down the barrel of a 45" and being strong enough not to pull the trigger...even tho "there's no real reason to except the way things have changed"

  • you who think it's about any gun it's not. It's that his girfriend is pregnant and he isn't ready to become a dad.so kill yourself by not being a part of your childs life or except the changes your life will take. It's very clear in the video, and with her throwing the glass on the wall was him suggesting an abortion.again very clear in the video.

  • this song is soo true

  • addictive

  • Świetna.

  • A lot of people think this song is about suicide or abortion but its no it is really about HOPE look it up

  • if you want to see them do this song live from 2006, check out this vid youtube.com/watch?v=fyOrkeftnbY

Its not much, just the opening 1:40 of the song live at Jones Beach, NY

  • well the literal meanin is for my dog he was shot with a .45

the unborn child as the new dog cuz he wasnt born at that time

young mans heart... mine swallowed by pain cuz we were close

the present wrapped in guilt cuz i was not there and as he slowly fell apart cuz i lost my grip on what life was meant to be after that happened so this song has deep meaning to me... and second chance was playin when we got back into the car after we walked out the vets office

  • this band looks like they take themselves serously not like the other crap thats out's there

  • at one time this was me but not anymore

  • honeyhole thats a great remark! for me im 45 now and comfortable in my skin.

  • its good but reminds me too much of the past for me lmfao

  • wonderfull!!!!!

  • @Incubs nah man, 45, in meaning a .45 revlolver!!

  • Brings back alot of emotions... Funny how music can bookmark feelings...

  • I <3 This Song More Then Anything or

  • <3 this song

  • i love this song

but the video.... not so much

  • When I first heard the lyrics to this song, I thought it fit perfectly with the theme of suicide, but Brent Smith said that it wasn't about that. It has more meaning. It is an analogy of life's ups and downs. This band comes up with the most creative lyrics. "I just saw Haillie's comet she waved". "There's a piece of a puzzle known as life, wrapped in guilt, sealed up tight". The best rock band today!

  • i heard that when he wrote the song he was actually thinking of suicide, correct me if im wrong :P

  • Considering he himself is in the Music Video, I have a feeling yes.

  • i hope ur a girl rjaXwtkXblgXlove

  • homophobe

  • jeez stfu, its a fucking word stop being so sensitive, get over yourself. I know plenty of Gay dudes and gals that OMG dont give a flying crap what anyone says or thinks!!!! (sometimes if you act like a grown up... you end up realizing that you dont need to give a crap what others say and that namecalling such as homo, faggot, fudge packer....doesnt bother you they are just fucking words)

  • wait.. whats a word? aha, homophobe, or hot?

  • @Sparton11000 ii am a girl

  • great song...not a great video.

  • he looks hot

  • this kinda sound like pink floyde to me but its still good.

  • shinedown is, in my opinion, the greatest modern rock band out there. they have great musicianship and they rock hard. their lyrics are truly powerful and their message is inspirational. and they have amazing stage presence. i would highly reccomend seeing a live show if you haven't. fantastic.

  • words of truth

  • I love Shinedown's music it is very nice good job.

  • This song is about so much more than killing your self! If idiots weren't so stupid you would know this!

  • shinedown has a diferent style! i like it and its musics too ... nice .45

  • was there a .45 in the music video?

  • Staring down "The Barrel of a 45" dude wanted too kill himself!!!!!!!

  • this song has so much more emotion than anyother song ive heard except for if you only knew. 45 sound of madness and if you only knew are their best songs. i love shine down cuz they r true to themselves

  • @jrlovr88

i'm sorry dude, but the sound of madness album was crap. i loved leave a whisper. that was their best album by far. i like us and them too, but i hated the sound of madness, they totally sold out. i hope they go back to their roots.

  • @jrlovr88

i would have agreed with you had you put burning bright, 45, shed some light, and lady so divine. check the solo out on lady so divine

  • @jrlovr88

Go check out Blackbird, Wayward one, and The End is Here by Alter Bridge. Very emotional and frickin epic

  • @jrlovr88

Have you ever actually LISTENED to any of their other songs? I mean, there are soooo many more that better than Sound of Madness. Don't get me wrong, I love If You Only Knew as well as Second Chance, but have you heard Burning Bright? Or Call me? I can't even name them all, but believe me, there is more depth to this band than it's most recent album.

  • Thank you Honeyhole92. I was wondering about that. Yeah, you feel like that somedays and it's hard to cope with the world.

  • Direct quote from the singer-

"The inspiration from the song really came from I think a lot of people kinda take a literal sense because of the lyrics but the song is basically about the day that you wake up and you look at yourself in the mirror and you finally decide that you want to try to become comfortable in your own skin, and realize that youre gonna have to make yourself happy before youre going to make anyone else happy.

  • And basically, the 45 isnt an actual literal term for a gun, I used it as a metaphor for the world, the .45 is actually the world and what it hands you every day of your life. When you get up, its a gift to be alive to begin with. A lot of different people, when Ive talked about it, they said, Do you really honestly mean that?

  • And Im like, Well, yeah. Because Ive been in that situation where I didnt know if I wanted to continue going on and I didnt know how to necessarily make myself comfortable with who I was, trying to find a way of learning more about myself.

  • And you come from a dark place sometimes, and thats really the reality of the song. Its about overcoming and about moving forward. And its basically about understanding that its not always going to be good, but you really have no one to blame for yourself if you dont move forward. Thats where the whole, Nobody knows what I believe, [comes from] because were all individuals. So thats really where it comes from, its about moving on, really."

  • Its about a mans downward spiral in life and thinking of suicide as a way out

  • this is my new fave song i love this band from the song second chance and i heard this song on the radio the other day and had to hear it agian its one of those ones that you could listen to over and over again and not get tired of it
