  • I love your videos! How long did it take you to learn to be so great at doing makeup?

  • wow... this is so helpful. Thank you.

  • Very helpful video, Another classic tutorial :)

  • so if nc foundation is cool then why is it yellow based when yellow is suppose to be warm

  • What I still don't understand is how to match your eyemakeup to your blush and lipstick :(

  • Amazing! Thanks for such a descriptive tutorial on the color wheel..... you learn this in many different kinds of art classses, and I was just telling my husband that the color wheel applies to makeup artistry too (in explaining my love/fetish with the art of color blending). Thanks!!!!

  • @lilpumpkinpie05 and others: where did you buy your color wheel? I know you said craft stores but I live in illinois and we dont have many stores..if we do, they aren't around where i live and i do not want to drive all over looking for one. is there a website or something that you can give to me? thnks

  • @Younique2011 ...google maybe?

  • I finally brought my color wheel today and this help me understand how to put eyeshadows together. I added this video to my favorites.

  • im sorry but i heard yellow is neutral.

  • @fev1588 you were told false information.

  • Now I have to go dig up my color wheel I had bought for art school. Lol

  • Great video! This helped me so much!

  • Thanks for this information. From now on, I will start using the colorwheel for everything: make up, decorating and fashion.

  • This is helpful for finding the best color for your under eye circles. Using your regular skin tone foundation/concealer will only highlight the problem. You bmust use a WARM tone to counteract the cool color under your eye. Blue circles need a more orange BASED hue like a salmon, purple undereye circles need a more YELLOW based hue. Not literally straight orange or yellow but yellow/orange BASED...hope this helps!

  • omg! thank u soo much this is really helpful i apriciate it so much...i wish u the best and hope u keep doing these helpfull videos

  • @Aangkat :) glad you found it helpful

  • Thank you for sounding so intelligent, it really makes a difference. Some of these makeup gurus are talented, but it's easy to judge them when they sound like a ditz.

  • @333333lalala aw that's sweet, thank you. thanks for watching

  • thank you sooo much for this video. im starting makeup school in january and this is very helpful to me! i was def pausing and taking notes! I actually did that on most all of your back to basics videos!! thank you thank you and thank you again!!

  • This was great! When I was in high school a MAC artist told me I should do reds and blues in my e/s to go with my yellow dress... And I never really could gather why, lol. But now I know.

  • Thanks sooo much! This was THEE MOST INFORMATIVE video thus far! Having a "foundation" and basic knowledge is very important! Keep it up!

  • You did a wonderful job

  • This information is what I was looking for? And the way you explain it make sense and I am know Wiser! I was wondering.... Have you study at the university? and have you done a public speaking course? or have you learn by yourself how to present information in the manner you do in your vids?

You present the information so profesional.

keep on with the great job! i love you.

(remember to anser the questions lined above, please? is really important for me to know)

  • this vid was ON POINT!!

  • I am soo happy you made this video! I love painting and you are soo right about the color wheel. I just view the face and body as a whole as a large blank canvas.

  • wow..i am a painter and I always use the color wheel when doing shadows on different skin colors of my subjects, but I didnt think that I could use this for makeup...I have been watching alot of your videos in the past few days to re-learn how to do my makeup ..it's been a while..thanks

  • I guess my chemistry wasn't bad after all but I hated that b*tch lmaooo, thanks for this HUGE help!!!!

  • very interesting. i really don't know much about makeup esp. eyeshadow. i never thought something i learned in physics, bio, and even art would show itself useful/ necessary in real life... funny

  • @ClassicDame08 thanks hun, welcome to my channel :)

  • WOW!! Amazing! I usually don't comment on the videos I watch but this was great. Like you said, a light bulb went off. I never thought about going back to the basics like this.

I have seen a lot of your videos and they are great! (love seeing Black makeup artist, it helps me out) Anyway this video helped because I want to be a makeup artist part time and I'm still in the process (just practicing on friends and family). Anyway (again) thanks for the vid! :)

  • OMG you rock this is a great video. YOU are officially my new makeup channel to watch. THis really made sense to me after watching your video.

  • This helped a lot and also mad a lot of sense. I just have one question (which you may have answered already along the post) but are there certain shades you should use or stay away from depending on if your Cool/Warm undertones, or is it just by eye color? I hope that made sense. Like, if I have warm undertones should I stick w/ or stay away from cool colors-or does it matter? I hope that makes sense, lol

  • @REEidentified definitely! personally I stay away from blaring white colors, and I like cream or off-white colors. also I noticed sometimes beige colors on me kind of wash me out. trust me you'll definitely know what "your color" is when it's something you get the most compliments on !

  • Gosh you are amazing. You have totally jumped up my list of favorite YT makeup gurus. I've been wearing makeup for years and I never really knew what looked good with what or why. I would just copy what I saw on others. LOL! Thank you so much for the incredible helpful video!

  • @MrsLogic13 aww that's so sweet thank you!

  • Very helpful...I'm going to pick up my color wheel 2morrow and then I'm going to watch this again. Thanx so much for helping those of us that are trying to break into this business!

  • You are the bomb!!! Thank you so much for sharing this vid, ever since I got into makeup I always wondered how the youtube makeup artist match colors that go together so nicely now I know why its all about knowing what colors compliment each other. I ordered my color wheel! lol I love your videos your very talented.

  • this was soooo helpful!!! thanks for the insight girlie!! but i was wondering, for ppl with your complextion with dark under eyes, what shade on the wheel will conceal that?? thanks a bunch :D

  • @MySheezy I'd try anything that is NW

  • OMG! I love you!!! I just stumbled across your videos ( u know; watch one video than watch another, and another...LOL) I`m so very glad I did!!! Thank you so much for this video!!!! • Thats why I like Bobbi Brown Pressed Powder and Creany Concealer (almond)because they are more yellow based. The MAC Artist told me that I was a NC45 and I was like NC??? Fortunately for me I don't wear foundation....but this info is good to know. Thank you

  • @Sharellyo NC's are actually yellow based as well

  • that's amazing I LOVE THE COLOR WHEEL!!!!!!!!!! thank you for that video

  • This is a great video I never thought of using a color wheel thanks!

  • @EbbyRo you are very welcome, LOVE your channel girl

  • Thanks for posting this. I have been trying but I am still very new and I am not artistic AT ALL.

  • Jackie, thanks a million for this video. This info will really help me bcz I am new to the art of make-up. Stay blessed!

  • @AllxThingsxDainty thank you sweetie, same to you

  • Thank you for explaining the color wheel. I will definitely get one. The photos of your eyes are so beautiful! I hope you start your own makeup line someday.

  • @gorjis1 you are very welcome, thank you, I am definitely not intersted it starting a makeup line lol but thank you sweetie

  • This is so helpful!!! Very orginal and true!!! Very Professional!!

  • @mrssilas1808 thank you :)

  • hey girlie! ik this is off topic but i love your rings!

  • ok i can completely understand now that i have a color wheel in front of me .thanks for taking the time to explain.. Question? what tips can u give to someone who wants to apply for mac?

  • wow extremely informative thanks i will definitely be purchasing the wheel

  • hi! thanks for making this vid! however, i'm still a little confused with how the color wheel helps you coordinate what blush to use with an eyeshadow.. can you please explain that to me a bit more?

    :)

  • @nikisayschill when applying your blush and even lip products you can still use the color wheel! for example, if I do a blue smokey eye, the opposite color of blue is orange. now I'm not gonna just orange all over my cheeks but what I usually do is pick blushes that have peachy/coral tones in them. make sense?

  • @lilpumpkinpie05 hmm, so basically i should choose colors that are complimentary to my eyeshadow?

  • Color theory is important in art, design, makeup and fashion. Thank you for making this video. I had to pay to learn this stuff. lol but youre so right about it all.

  • Excellent!!!

  • OK, i just bought mt wheel and I am sooo lost. Im not worried tho, i plan to study it day and night, lol.

  • Great video. Very informative.

Thank you for taking it back to the beginning!

  • Jackie, I have watched a couple of color wheel vids on UT and your vid is the first one that made so much sense.. Im excited now and will use my wheel more. Can you do one about outfits?

  • @butterflyat40 thank you :) I rarely do outfit of the days because I don't really like them lol but I will try do them a few more of them frequently. It's just the only time I really go out is for work, and I wear all black to work lol so they would get boring after a while

  • Hey Jackie this was a fabulous tutorial! So fabulous that I went to Michael's and picked up a color wheel. It is the same one you have...yaaayyy. It was really inexpensive, especially with the 40% off coupon. I am going to get good use out of this. I love it. Take care sweetie.

  • @TrayTrayBaby woo hoo! yay for coupons! lol I love Michael's too bad we don't have em here on the islands

  • You did a wonderful job. But i have to be honest, once you get done saying all the different combos....it feels like everything can go together. I like to do complimentary colors. Until I figured out color I never understood why I could never wear burgundy colored hair/braiding. I am dark skinned (w/ true medium brown eyes) and I'm warm and I can only wear golden tones. I think the burgungy is too cool for me. And I always thought green was warm...you taught me a lot. Thanks!

  • i have blue viens under my eyes. so i bought the organge corrector from makeup forever. and then used a concealer on top. is that right

  • @msanjoseph that is correct

  • wow you look like Toni Braxton a little bit at the beginning of the video

  • I have a request, I know this may seem weird to ask but can you tell me some terrific highlight e/s colors for WOC. From watching YT vids, the one that I mostly hear a lot of people use or recommend is Ricepaper but I am just getting into this MAC addiction and would love some suggestions for us brown skin divas. Thanks!!

  • @rayqueenbee Ricepaper is great too, you just have to sweep it on gently instead of packing it on. I love Ricepaper, Arena, Bisque, Vex, Seedy Pearl etc etc

  • Jackie this was an awesome video!

  • @honeygirl1104 thank you so much!

  • this video helped alot! i'm definitely getting a color wheel now. thanks :)

  • Oh thank You,i am blind sometimes=)Thank You very much!

  • The brown hair with the blue shadow looks great!!!

  • @nichellemicole thank you :)

  • is it true that its better to put shimmers on ur lids and mattes on ur crease, or do believe in whatever works?

  • @HeyMishLA my experience with eyeshadows yes. I find that whenever I use frosts or shimmers in the outer crease, it tends to look all over the place and kind of messy. plus it's all about placing the right type of textures in the right areas of the face to accentuate them. applying a frostier color on the rounded part of the lid will brighten the eye and using a darker matte on the outter corner will give your eyes more depth.hope that makes sense lol

  • This is an awesome video, girl I learnt a lot in this one video. Thanks for sharing.

  • @rayqueenbee thank you for taking the time to watch!

  • This is a great video, thank you for doing this tutorial! I agree, it was very helpful!

  • i can still view the video

  • @chellybaby I know, the problem has been resolved, thanks!

  • Thanks so much hun for makin this vid! :)

  • @TreezBeAuTy thank you for taking the time to watch :)

  • You and your makeup are just fabulous. Your eyeshadow is ALWAYS perfect. I can never get mine that way. You must do a tut on the very last picture that you showed us, the yellow, orange, and blue-green (teal) look, BOMB. Or unless you have one already...

  • @MzShortcake310 thank you so much :)

  • This is awesome! You are so smart and such a good teacher. I am definitely going to get a color wheel.

  • @Laina034 awesome, you will love it!

  • Very helpful, thank you!

  • Thanks for the video! It was really informative and helpful. I'm getting a color wheel.

  • @mzbrwnsugar2007 thank you for watching!!

  • Jackie

do u have a tutorial for this look?

  • nah I don't plan on it either cause I have enough blue lol It's just a little Contrast on the outter V, and Deep Truth on the lid, Brown Script on the crease

  • This is really helpful!!!

  • @beautiijunkii thanks!

  • Ok so i must say that you are stunning in every photo you showed, should be a model. And thank you for doing this video, its really helpful x

  • aww thank you :)

  • This is EXCELLENT and answers questions I've been confused about for such a long time. Very healthful. Thank you for sharing with us.

  • wow thats awesome, I'm glad it was helpful!

  • hey Jackie

Thank you for taking the time to make this video!!! I enjoyed it and it was quite informative. Quick question with colors like brown, black, grey and white how do you coordinate those. I have a formal party to attend on Saturday. I am wearing all white dress with silver accessories but Im confused how to do my makeup. Should it be a neutral face or can I use silver eyeshadow without looking too crazy. (I will be taking lots of pics and I want to look my best. PLEASE HELP!!!! xoxoxo

  • I would keep the silver to a minimum because you don't want to overdo it lol or you can do like an all black smokey eye

  • you made so much sense!! 5 stars and i favorited the video to come back for tips..omg i love it!!

  • Great Video! It was so helpful! Lol I had my colorwheel right next to me during your video. lol This is how I learned to apply eyeshadow colors from a colorwheel. 2 years ago another makeup artist told me to buy one because this would really help me out with what colors go with what. Thanks for the video I learned something new. I didnt know what Analogous but now I do. Thanks!

  • awesome :)

  • Great vid hun!!

    thx 4 sharing!

  • thank you for watching!

  • thanks for this series. I am a newbie to this whole makeup game. You are awesome and are very clear and concise with your tutorials. Much Appreciated

  • Makes perfect sense but I do need to buy a color wheel.

  • that makes sense girl i am going to get me one i don't know y i haven't thought about that

  • Thank you Jackie, this is SO HELPFUL!!

  • you're weclome!

  • SO HELPFUL!!

  • Thank you!!! This is exactly what I need!

  • Thanks for geting back to the basics cause i didn't know none of this.

  • no problem!
