the idiot posting as alcoholevel who said nobody ever died powered paragliding is wrong. It is statistically safer than paragliding, but people die doing it. I've been flying paragliders for years and know of plenty accidents and a few fatalities in paragliding and I personally know 2 people who've broken their backs while powered paragliding.
@BlazingBovineRanch Yes it could have been stated more clearly for sure. The key point was zero people have died on WPPGA Certified equipment. With a certified glider, WPPGA certified paramotor and a reserve you won't find one single death has ever occured as of 10/8/2011 and only 2 real injuries have ever been reported. They quality of the equipment you fly makes a huge gigantic difference in the safety of the sport. It is EXTREMELY important to fly only WPPGA Certified gear.
Awesome video. I teach the kiteboarding on the island and saw this video. Your video inspired us to learn paragliding. Thanks for the info in the video. Well done.
I haven't thought of paragliding for a moment in my life but after watching a few of your videos I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do this... still a little worried about the danger of it though.
@AlcoholLevel Paramotoring is the ticket and as long as you get the right equipment and training zero people have ever died. Only 2 injures to date and both were people doing really stupid stuff. Both continue to fly. It is an incredibly forgiving and safe sport if you get the right gear. Soooo dang fun!! I've broken nearly every bone in my body on motorcycles but in 10 years of flying like a maniac on paramotors my worst injuries have been a bruise, sprain and scraped knees. Booyaaa!!
Nice one! Reminds me of of the pioneering years flying hang gliders in the BVI. That was in the 80's. We also flew USVI. That was with Larry Flewelling, Stevie Coan, Doug Heath, Don Carslaw et al. ATB Bill Bullimore.
YOU NEED A HELMET MAN!!!NOT A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE OF HOW PARAGLIDING SHOULD BE DONE!!!SAFETY FIRST OF ALL, THEN YOU CAN CHALLENGE YOURSELF!!!AND SHOW THE VIDEO TO PEOPLE!!!!
Yes that is the exact same K2 you seem me doing the figure 8 foot drags with. The K2 is freaking awesome for everything. Best all around glider I know of. I could only bring ONE glider on this trip. The glider I chose was the small K2. I weigh 175. Now that the trip is over if I had it to do over again my ONE choice of glider to bring next time would be the small K2. It was freaking perfect for everything I did. Tons of speed, stupid proof safety, crazy glide ratio, bodatious handling.
Wow it looks like it would be sooo much fun to fly!!! Right now I'm into atvs and jet skis. Someday I'll buy a K2 and a flat top (when I get enough money)! Keep on flyin SuperDell and GREAT videos!
How often do you really get to use them though? I found with my ATV I rode it about 3 times a year and the Jet ski was lucky to see water even once. It is just an all day thing to break out those toys. With my Flat Top I can launch out the back of my house and fly away in 2 minutes. Plus I don't have to deal with the dock people or rangers kicking you off of land. Get a Flat Top and you seriously would never touch your other toys again. It freaking rules!! Sweet flying today again for me:)
No! It is an ultralight so there is no regulation, certification or registration at all of any kind. Just a few simple and obvious FAA rules. It's flying man! You will never get boared with flying!!! I still fly pretty much every day since I started 10 years ago. So dang fun!!!

You are right I haven't rode my Raptor in over a year! :( Is there an age limit on flying paramotors?
