Mardi Gras was brought to the US by the French as they explored the mouth of the Mississippi and when they landed 60 miles inland in New Orleans, it was in fact Lundi Gras and they named that place Mardi Gras Point. Face it, Mobile is Mardi Gras's bastard step brother that nobody likes.
PS... The original Mardi Gras comes from ANCIENT ROME... That's so far from Mobile you wouldn't even know where to look!

Just learning this song will give you the opportunity to learn other stuff. Learning just in itself is an experience that requires discipline. My highschool is doing this song in their field show! It's my favorite song on the set list! I felt like listening to this so I can hear if I am doing the Tuba Ad Lib right... It seems like no one in their band can play it either
@rocki4k Well, if it's "ad lib", then thee is no structure. Make it your own. Ad lib something that is recognizable to everyone but just different than rebirth. Check with your music teacher and discuss that. I promise you, the element of surprise of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" or something classic like that will bring the house down, especially in that song! @BoogieWoogieBugleBoi Lots of these songs are structured but allow a great deal of latitude the spontaneity; sort of like the Indian Mardi Gras groups. In this case, he does say "..and look at my boner". Most people had no idea because they hear what they expect to hear. I did know this, well not the "6:16 mark" but there has always been little hidden things in New Orleans music. Eddie Bo was famous for this while being a serious musician. Good ear but I hope too many people don't read this.
@MudderWaY Music is not as much of our lives as the show makes it look like but it's a big part of our lives. As for the show, I can understand what is going but I don't see how anyone can follow it unless they lived here and kept up with what was going on. I never could comprehend "The Wire". David Simon is a freak for detail and because of that, I feel I really missed a good show in "The Wire". Ratings are hardly a "blip" for Treme but we will get a 3rd season from what I heard.

Now I know you don't want dat to happen to me, besides, you can go to one of the legal download sites and for less then a dollar you can get a copy of this much better then what you're hearing here on Youtube(64kbs).
