chen is a really great promising player...easily he could be the next world champion..but he needs to have the ability to adapt to every playing styles of different opponents. Samsonov is not that fast, he just have a much greater ball positioning and anticipation that's why he could react well enough to the killer loops of chen. Chen needs to drive much wider to keep samsonov way out of the table. but still this match is a lesson for chen. eventually he will make it there to the TOP!...peace!
chen qi is a very good player, but not a real champion (in single competition^^)..all he need to complete his game is a better passiv game (look at the blocks-may 5% of them are positiv) and playing a low-risk game..in other words constance..
i agree with allandario. He is putting the ball where samsonov can return it easily but when he does try to place the ball in the corners for that finishing shot he is unbalanced and puts it off the board.
Samsonov's ball placements is amazing. Chen Qi is fast like most chinese players that attack fast and close to the table but Samsonov got that figure out and counter it with his ball placements.
i can't believe someone can beat chen qi 4-0, he wasn't playing bad either. he was hitting the ball really hard and his footwork was amazing. i guess he could have given more trouble to Samzonov if he placed his attacks better
The problem is not in the forehand attack...Chen is poor at forehand & backhand defense, lack of control, which did not improve much in the last several years
chen is so good, he just needs to work on his backhand and his overall strategy. you cant overpower someone like samsonov, he feeds off it.

chen qi isnt thinking, he always loop the ball right into samsonov. he should loop it really wide once a while to make him run left and right
