  • The Bears beat the niners that year too

  • best defense ever

  • What an amazingly talented team this was. And what made the score even more amazing was that Bears starting quarterback Jim McMahon sat out the entire game due to an injury.

  • The 1976 Steelers are usually considered part of the conversation as they

gave up only 28 points in their last nine games, a FG per game. This may also

have been the season they had eight starters on the AFC Pro Bowl team.

  • LOL the whole Dallas offensive line false-starts at 4:37 and nobody calls it.

  • @BHoz77 Actually that was a shift in formation. This was something that you'd often see with the Tom Landry-era Cowboys (can't recall seeing it with Dallas post-Landry or with anyone else).

  • @HamptonRoadsTVFan Interesting. I always thought the rule was, once an offensive lineman got down into his stance, he couldn't move until the ball was snapped. Maybe that rule wasn't in place then.

  • That Chicago Bear team was magical. I've never seen such dominance.

Back then I was taking all bets against the Bears and giving points.

Unfortunately they were also the team with the greatest potential who should have won at least 2 or 3 more superbowls back then, but didn't.

  • lol, Cowboys couldn't block my grandma that day.

  • Best defense ever, and I hate to admit it because I despise Buddy Ryan and all of his hellish offspring.

  • thanks for the up. brought back some great memories

  • 46 defense....so epic at the time

  • The 1992 Dallas Cowboys Defense!!! Was the best ever!!!

  • @Crue95023 hardly

  • grew up with the purple people eaters of the 70's but these guys were so nasty. 85 Bears gotta be the best defense ever.

  • Does anybody know if this Dallas QB is still alive today?

  • I love Ditka told Buddy Ryan to back off his old mentot Tom Landrey and Ryan told him to stick it at halftime.

  • Me and my frined from church watched this game at an old Mr. Gatti's in San Antonio back in the day. I did not like the Cowboys then and I just danced with delight when they got hammered. He did not speak to me for the rest of the day. Oh well XD.

  • @efrem1 rofl great story.

  • When Madden's claiming that the Cowboys OL was more a finesse group than a bulk group...it's hard to determine if he was right or not, since that Bears DL was BOTH; bulk and finesse, 'tanks that moved with the speed of fighter jets', pick your poison.

  • LMAO- I remember watching this on TV. The Bears put a good old fashioned beat-down on the Cowboys. Awesome.

  • The 1985 Bears went HAM on any and everybody. WOW.

  • TSU's own Richard Dent

  • This shit looks like a damn video game!

  • If Webster's Dictionary were ever to put a video alongside the definition of words, they should put this video next to their definition of "badass".

  • Danny White, thou sucketh

  • Sweet video, what a defensive gem.

  • What week was this?

  • NOTICE no sack dances OR CELEBRATIONSOF ANY KIND FROM THE d

  • Comment removed

  • Im a Cowboys fan and remember this game well. Jimmy The Greek picked Dallas to win and the cover of SI the following week said 44-0. Right then you knew nobody was going to beat Chicago.

  • @maxflipper33 But Miami did, two weeks later.

  • Very nice game ! Wish I had it now

  • 0:55. The proof that it wasn't just the revolutionary scheme. "Only" a five man pass rush, and they had White fifteen yards in the backfield, scrambling to survive, within one single second.

  • DA best defense of all time.

  • da bears

  • The only loss I've ever seen that even compares to this (outside of college) is when the Patriots beat the Titans last year 59-0. I've never seen this game before but I have heard about it. Thanks for posting.

  • 3:02 -- John Madden's expert analysis!!!

  • I miss those days 44-0

  • To this day, I have never seen a team get owned the way the Cowboys did that day in '85. The Cowboy fans can still hear the screaming lambs.

  • @jflor98 well this was the first shut out in a good number of years for them and its there worse lost ever to this day, i'm not a cowboys or bears fan, but i do give these 85 bears respect

  • The incredible thing is Dallas also lost 50-24 to the Bengals that season and still finished 10-6 and won the NFC East. But, you're watching the Landry era coming apart right here.

  • The one "dislike" for this video must be from a Cowboys fan 8)

  • @TheRealCates Actually, I think the dislikes are from hardcore Chicago Bears fans who were disappointed that the "-" in the title of your video doesn't mean negative! Final score, 44 to negative something! lol! XD

  • I remember this game vividly! First time since 1971 that the Bears beat the Cowboys and, also, the worst loss ever suffered by the Cowboys! Tom Landry called it "An Old Fashioned Country Licking"

  • When the student defeats his master, words cannot express the mixed feelings he experiences.

  • 72 Dolphins didn't create their own schedule....Dolphins defeated Bears in 85.We didn't show up for the AFC championship, but had been more assertive in that game,I have no doubt we would have beaten Chicago again.

  • @dolphinbuc No way were the Bears not winning the Super Bowl that year. '85 was there year. The Dolphins would have put up more of a fight than the Pats, but they would have lost nonetheless.

  • Best. Team. Ever. And I'm a Rams fan.

  • You sorta had a feeling that the Cowboys never had a chance in this game

  • The Bears defense only allowed AFC champion Patriots 19 seconds in Bears territory in a 20-7 Bears victory. The Bears defeated a 10-6 Skins team coming off three straight NFC East titles 45-10 after scoring 31 points in one quarter. The Bears defeated the defending world champion 49ers 26-10. They beat a 10-6 division winning Cowboys team 44-0. This during a stretch outscoring opponents 104-3 with their BACKUP QUARTERBACK. They then outscored playoff opponents 91-10 with two shutouts.

  • whoever said the 1985 bears were overrated how bout you actually watch the video and then ull realize that the cowboys didnt even gain a yard on offense

  • Haha, listen at 2:10.

Only Pat Summerall could make a play like this sound as dry as Sunday church.

  • My god what a wonderful year of football this was. Never seen anything like it. BEARS

  • this is FUNNY!! Week in and out this unit DEMOLISHED quarterbacks to submission!!!!

  • At 59 seconds the whole Bears defensive line broke through. GODDAMN!

  • 5:30. No defense plays like that, of late. Lining up one way, then suddenly change the whole alignment, including what positions DTs and DEs line up on; "Left tackle shift to the right flank, linebackers move up on tight end, strong safety be ready." Etc. And they could change it at the snap of a finger.

  • you just dont see defense like this anymore...

  • The Bears were so fast, that it literally looked like they were rushing 8 players from the line of scrimmage! (LOL)

  • I bet Danny White remembered Otis Wilson after this game

  • HOW BOUT DEM BEARS! 15-1, BEARS RULE! COWBOYS ARE NUTTIN' BUT LOSERS!

  • @mrkingofkings We are 5 time Super bowl Champions! You need to check youself little care bear!

  • I remember this game. At the time of this game I lived right in the area the new Cowboys Stadium is now in Arlington. I remember listening to the radio in my mom's car wanting her to hurry home so I could watch the game. I was sick to my stomach watching how bad my Cowboys looked that day. Chicago was for real that year. It's a painful memory for us Cowboy fans.

  • The Bears played with reckless abandon on this day but let's be honest, this was an aging Cowboy team and it's dynasty had long since crumbled. How they won the East in '85 is anyone's guess. A 20-0 demolition by an average Rams team in the playoffs proved that Dallas had NO business being there.

  • bears beats dallas really bad 44-0 im glad go bears.

  • the best!

  • And yet the '72 Dolphins won the Super Bowl, which made them they best of their year, period. The Dolphins WERE one of the greatest teams of all time. The '85 Bears were THE greatest, a team that would've been invincible if not for the simply stubborn pride of the Bears' certifiable genius D-Coordinator.

  • @85Bears3499You had 1 great year...calm down..u can really never be america's team..you guys have sucked for years if you take away 2006

  • HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!F@#K UM ALL

  • @kishakakes yea how about em!? 11-5 and they got the best receiver in the draft! lol Dez is gonna be a monster children!

  • i'm a cowboys fan...it was the most awesome display of destuction i've ever seen..it's almost laughable now

  • @emmitt2200 What is sorry is the nitwit Dallas fans cheering after Bears scores? Dumbass fans. lol The hardcore Dallas fans are on the easttcoast. The fans in Dallas? Many are lost in space. Sorry but its true. Thats why the media got away with frying Irvin for a BS rape charge with no evidence? Incredible. . Because the fans give a new meaning ti Stupid.

  • i remember this game well. i wanted the cowboys to kick their ass so bad, you can't deny, the bears were incredible that year.

  • Remember this game Cowboy fans. The Bears were America's team. Not you.

  • @85Bears3499 yea you never led the league in sales of merchandise. The Bears have one championship since 1963 , lets not be silly. Thats freakin 47 years? lol Hardly an epic franchise in the last half century.

  • oh my god im a cowboys fan and i remember this game like it was yesterday i was the saddest 15 yr old on that very long long sunday .i had never seen a team do that to my boys before , i knew the bears would go on to do the same against the rest of the leauge, and till this day the 85 bears had the best defense i have ever seen bucs and ravens came close but not quite like the bears .

  • White comes back in only to get laid out again. lol. Cowcunts blow. 44-0. Bears Owned in '85.

  • 3:13 shows that Ryan was being disingenuous when he said "Some people are good enough to put pressure on with a three-man rush...well, we're not. In fact, I don't know if we're good enough to do with a four-man rush." The Cowboys were NOT a bad team that year, and Dent, McMichael, Fridge and Hampton just tear the Dallas O-Line apart for the sack. Yeah, they were good enough to pressure with four men; everyone just remembers the times they went 200% overkill, lol.

  • Watching the Bears destory Dallas was great. Watching your favorite team completely dominate the team I like the least is sweet. It doesn't get any better than this game.

  • Awesome!

  • Cowboys fan here, I remember this game. The Bears mauled us that day. Knocked out White and Hogeboom. We didn't have a chance.

  • The best thing about posting a video is that I can delete comments I don't agree with lol

  • @TheRealCates What an asshole. LOL!!! Thanks for posting this video. My boys were talking about this game. The funny thing is that this is probably the first game I can really remember because damn the Bears ran through the Cowboys. I was like 7 at the time and all I kept thinking was the Cowboys are going to score. Not at the time knowing a lot about football, but man this game was a betch. I really would have hated to be a Cowboy fan.

  • For that year and that day too the Bears were Americas team.

  • Dallas was called Americas team It changed that day.

  • The 1985 Bears defense was like waves washing over a boulder. Gradually, the waves would wash away the mighty boulder. They would wear you down!

  • @duckman531 the buccaneers 2-14 team nearly beat them twice with deberg, whilder, and com shreading buddy' s defense like yarn

  • Wasn't so easy for the Redskins, Cowboys, Rams, Giants, and Bill Walsh's 49ers, was it. That defense didn't give up yards and it didn't give up points in 1985 & '86, and it lost only 3 regular season games those years. They won a Super Bowl one year and only a cheap shot by Charles Martin kept them from winning another. You'd like 'em if they were YOUR defense.

  • Damn right!

  • @27BigE The 85 bears had more trouble with their own division than they did with the rest of the nfl even though they won every game.

Packers, Vikings and Tampa were all close games........except the Lions

  • man even after dis great season us bears fans still get no respeact at least jay cutler is doing better cuz we beat the vikings

  • Yep, pretty much everybody says this team is "overrated" and all that...which is BS.

  • @TheRealCates wow, playing the bears was like fighting Rocky Marciano, you didnt just get beat, you got "punished"

  • @TheRealCates this team couldnt be overrated, beacause they played a killer schedule that year, and destroyed evryone. the 72 dolphins played a joke of a schedule.

  • @kevlarunderwear22 Agreed.

  • I remember Ditka saying years later that he sort of regretted that the score got out of hand (playing against his old team and mentor [Tom Landry]).

That defense had to be one of the best ever.

  • @09rja After the game, when they went to shake hands, Tom Landry just said 4 words to Ditka. "You guys are good." Then Ditka tried to appologize and said to Landry "Coach, I'm really sorry." Landry just repeated those 4 words "You guys are good." then he walked off the field. Ditka called the win bitter sweet. While he was happy they won big, he felt really bad for Tom Landry. The Cowboys did go on to win the NFC East this year, their last playoff appearance under Landry.

  • @09rja Buddy Ryan wouldn't let up as the DC. Ditka couldn't get him to stop the blitzes.

  • @kevlarunderwear22 The 85 Bears were awesome but they failed to play in another SB? Dallas played in 5 Super Bowls from 1970 to 78? The Bears played great for that one year but couldn't sustain it. The NFC Central was a weak division too. The Lions, Packers, Bucs and Vikings? No one had a winning record in your division in 85? lol Dallas was a faltering team. The following year the Cowboys went 7-9. But the Bears defense was great in 85.

  • Comment removed

  • @kevlarunderwear22 If they were overrated, they never would have won the Super Bowl that year. No other team ever dominated one season so convincingly as the '85 Bears and I don't think any team ever will again.

  • @kevlarunderwear22 Anybody who claims the bears played a easy schedule simply does not know what he is talking about -- whoever he or it is "realcates" is completely out of line !

  • Man were the Bears good then. Their defense just flew all over the place.

  • hahah thats pretty funny how its madden doing play by play

  • Nice video. The cowboys were not undefeated at this point;just the Bears were. This was a BIG game cuz Dallas were talking smack on how the Bears were 10-0 but they really hadn't played anyone. After the game,Dan Hampton said,"Dallas was right. We're 11-0 and we still haven't played anybody!"

  • Yep. My bad. I fixed it in the description.

  • DAAYYUUUMMM !!!! Go Bears !!!!!
